Your a great teacher, Jon. I’d recommend all youngsters starting out to watch all of your vids. Keep it going buddy your doing a great job in promoting the sport!
Thanks John, I appreciate that! Are you the JB who once owned Bishops Bowl?
Jon Arthur Angling - Yep, that’s me, lol. Bishops Bowl, Drayton Res, Meadowlands and Frog Hall. Oh! And let’s not forget 2 miles of the Avon at Stoneleigh Abbey. Retired now but still have a small stretch of river Avon for me to play on. Your welcome to come and have a go. I think you would enjoy it Jon.
@@johnbloor4376 Hi John, is your bit of River private? I did fish at Stoneleigh years ago it had some good potential for Chub, Grayling and Barbel, when I fished it Massey's put some small trout in but poaching became a problem even tho they were tiny 🙄
Michael Hilton - Hi Michael. Yes it’s a private stretch for me and the family. Just somewhere nice to go and relax and catch a few nice fish. Just couldn’t stand not having some water altogether when I retired. So found this little stretch of heaven for me to while away the days, lol.
Great insight as always, love ur stuff Jon big up Mohmar Whites, ha ha, Andy Billington, Chris Tudor, Jeff Moors RIP, Steve Daniels, Jim Keeling, the good old canal days, keep em coming Jon!
A real shame so many people won't know who or what Mohmar were, but at least we do! :-)
@@JonArthur yh good days and dedication breaking ice for 2 pound of gudgeon, when i was a kid i had the priviledge of sitting behind Kevin Ashurst and Dave Berrows whilst running the bank for Mohmar, times have changed alot with commercials but the canals are where it all came from and u were a renowned angler as i recall Jon uve took ur watercraft to another level pal all the best mate, upload another vid soon.
Jon. I’m sure I speak on behalf of everyone who watches your videos when I say, sincerely, thank you! You’re always massively informative, open and insightful and have such good production quality. You’ve really helped me and continue to do so. It’s also very refreshing that you respond to nearly all the comments - adds that personal touch. Keep up the good work and hope to see you on the bank at tunnel barn sometime soon.
Very nice of you to say so 👍👍👍
Best videos on utube! Very informative and very listenable manner. Makes you believe any pleasure angler can do it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Netting as bad as an England striker 🤣👍 love 22 on house great peg ,well done and congratulations on the masters win; great stuff.
Thanks 👍 Pegs 21 and 22 are usually nice to fish, although they've not been too clever so far this winter...
Another top video from a top angler.Your knowledge is top drawer and the info and tips you reveal is awsome. Thanks for sharing Jon and stay safe.
Thanks 👍
Massively enjoyed your videos, I loved match fishing 15 years ago, alot has changed, all these high quality videos help, can't wait to come back fishing matches!
Do you have a job ?
Just subscribed Jon👍 ,just turned 60 and decided to start fishing again or be it on rod and reel .Like a previous comment said .Fantastic info for the youngsters when starting up .Where have all the years gone 😢
Welcome aboard and best of luck with your fishing!
Brilliant jon
Cheers Mike
Another gem Jon, thank you for all the knowledge you impart on your channel, in a very humble manner. Spot on mate 🤙
Much appreciated
@@JonArthur Unquestionably welcome Jon. Top bloke, 🤙
Good to see you back Jon. I enjoyed every moment of that. I would of needed another couple of inches of line from pole 2 float. Unsteady hands.
Glad you enjoyed it. Sometimes you can rest the top kit against the grass or bank, but on this swim it was slightly full with extra rain water so the 'mud wall' was a few inches away from the grasses. Thats the only bit that you couldn't tell from the vid really.
Lovely! Thoroughly enjoyed that.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice too see you back Jon very informative much appreciated pal👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi John. I live in Singapore but it’s so nice to see your videos of my old stomping grounds, especially Makins which was the last place I fished with my dad... he’s passed now, sadly. Don’t get much chance to dangle a maggot out here but nonetheless really enjoying your videos and am interested to see you, your family, your performance in matches. Great stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it
great stuff john
Thanks JS
Jon nice light hearted fishing session, some good tips. It’s always good to catch up with fishing mates, that to me is what fishing is all about.

Always great videos Jon, thanks👍👍
Thanks 👍
Great video again mate love the low down float shots, great info, brilliant tips
Thanks 👍
Just found you're tunnel barn farm session. Great summer session on the feeder. I love you're passion for fishing , and how you explain things so easily for the return to the sport type of person like me. Need to practice the accurate casting like you.
Awesome, thank you!
Great video Jon. Really enjoyable and informative. Love the relaxed presentation style too. It always looks as though you're enjoying yourself.
Much appreciated!
Great fishing Jon you make it look so easy lol.
Thanks, it's definitely not always easy! 👍
Great video Jon. Just subscribed. That was me you were talking to through the hedge by the way. I had a great day. You were correct, House Pool (peg 33). Ive learned a lot from this video. As I said, I’m new to pole fishing. Might treat myself to a day out with you. All the best mate. 👍🏼
Thanks Andy. Nice to meet you through the trees! :-)
Worth every penny Andy, had a day with Jon at makins fishery’s top bloke.👍
Mark Ramsay It was funny. I was fishing at TBF and I was thinking to myself “that bloke behind me has been on his phone for over an hour” as I could hear him talking but couldn’t make out what was being said. Turned around and it was John. Will consider a day out next spring/summer. Need to trade my old Shakespeare ‘blue box’ for a proper box, although it’s retro is almost antique. Not been pole fishing long. I’m hooked (excuse the pun). 😂
Really nice video, keep them coming
Thanks, will do!
Nice little video Jon, hopefully get up to tunnel next week for a dabble. Will give that a try 🦈🦈
Have fun!
Cracking little film that one Jon looked a lovely evening for it, it came across great on camera. A lovely way to catch that size of fish 🎣
Glad you enjoyed it
Your videos are very informative and very entertaining to watch. Definitely going to try some of your tips and tricks out at partridge lakes next saturday.
Best of luck! :-)
Great video Jon
Many thanks! :-)
Another great video Jon, really insightful, I struggled with the idea you can fish so shallow, not see any signs of fish and still catch ! 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome as usal thanks
Thanks :-)
Nice one Jon , not that much bait on the sidetray which is good to see that you can have a nice days fishing without ££££
Thanks 👍
Great video Jon as usual I've recently bought some of the numpty pellet waggler's from Pablo great little floats.
Always a great watch and very detailed thanks!
Good stuff
I’ve just started on canals recently ( pollington) where you find Eddie Brydon and Dennis white , loving it .
Best of luck Shabba!
Spot on jon love magin fishing my self the mushy micro apprch is great when ground bait not cupping not allowed🤜🤛🤜🤛
Yes, it's a lovely tactic :-)
cool vid. enjoyed it, i like the white top kit so you can write on it. subbed
Thanks for the sub!
Great video once again jon can you please let me know where I can buy those floats thanks for all the super videos you post
Great floats called 'Tanks' handmade by Pablo RWC Floats and available here: www.pablorwc.co.uk
Another great video mate! Congrats on the record weight at the UK champs, any idea when the highlights will be up on BT sport?
This week I gather, but not got BT Sports myself
I think it was on tonight 9 till 10 on BT but didn’t manage to catch it. Was hoping to see the round you won but not sure if it was the right one?
Hi Jon, another great video, are you using a 3m keepnet? I noticed you threaded under the platform to hopefully stop the fish doing you on the platform legs, a brilliant idea 👍I usually put the net alongside the platform at TBF to try and stop them doing me but will try this next time 😎
I like the Matrix 2.5m Compact ones for places like Tunnel
@@JonArthur I was eventually able to get a couple 👍👍
Hi Andy, means my son really enjoyed your video. How shallow would you consider fishing this method? Our local pool is well down at the moment with less than a foot at the mud line on many pegs ?
Depends on clarity of water and how hungry the fish are, but they'd easily come into 10-12 inches in summer on a lot of places. At Tunnel you can be stood there sometimes thinking nothing will come that close today, then feed and they can be there in minutes!
Cracking video Jon where can I get some of those floats please?
Pablo RWC Floats. Link in description.
I was interested the way you attached the hooklength to the main line. Not the conventional loop to loop method which I have been told to use.
I definitely use the loop to loop
Happy holidays ,can I ask what your view is on fishing 8 and 10 inch hook lengths on the deck for F1s and proper carp laying the rig in every minute or so and sit and wait , I've started using fluocarbon for all my hook lengths ,do you think fluocarbon makes a difference in harder times like winter ?. Not the margin say on the 5 meter line and 13 14 meter line
Why dont you connect to the dacron with a double loop so it can be removed easily .. can cut the small loop open if worried about snagging and coming off ?
I used to double loop my rigs many many years ago but I am fortunate to have the dexterity to be able to prise open a single loop if required. In this instance there is no need to anyway as I am reducing the length of the rig, not putting it back on a winder or swapping top kits, so simply snipping it with scissors is by far the simplest and fastest solution for me. Everyone has their own systems though...
Great video what tool did you use to tie the loop knot?
Ringers loop tyer
Hi John noticed you said you coached on jennys before the vid, had a match on jennys yesterday. Had a real hard day match won with 22lb any advice on tactics for jennys? Regards Andy
Depends where you draw. The carassio are a great target if you're on a peg with a gap between islands, such as 6 7 16 17 and the pegs opposite, with either 4mm pellets on the long pole (full depth and shallow) or a small groundbait method feeder and single dead red maggot. The big carp will usually be the windward end and will probably show themselves. Pellets, corn, worms, paste, bomb and pellet etc will all work for them. Really hard days you can normally have a days fishing feeding worm and casters plus a bit of GB just 4-6m out for everything that swims and I'd expect to catch 20lb+ just doing that. Lots of options on this lake!
@@JonArthur Thanks John really appreciate you taking the time to reply, always follow all your videos I look forward to you putting them up. Keep up the good work John 👏 🙌 and thanks again for replying.
Hi John.if you have the time would you do one of the same type of fishing using 0-20 hook length 3” just to prove that you can get the same results or not has using a lighter line on prolific waters like TBF
I personally dont bother with ultra short 3in hooklengths for primarily big carp and 0.20 bottoms and 4-6in is adequate or even fishing straight through to avoid weak points in the rig.
do you soak your micros or do you feed them dry jon. ?
Almost always Soak them for couple minutes to soften up
Hi Jon, what’s inside your pole section that connects to your top kit?
On this one it's the Pole Nose Bungs cones: polenosebungs.co.uk
Are the RWC floats foam or balsa? It doesn't specify on their website John?
They're all foam. Bob at RWC uses several high grade foams and really knows his stuff when it comes to each one and their densities etc
Hi Jon,
What is the arm you have the pole sock on? Looking to get a short arm that keeps the sock nice and tight to the leg.
Cheers,
Duncan
It's an original Short Matrix Cross Arm, but I've just wrapped a bit of pipe lagging round it and some black insulating tape to make it more padded. Tbh it's not that necessary now but I've left it on all the same. Newer version is this: www.fishmatrix.co.uk/home/product/3d-r-cross-arms?c=seatbox-accessories
what shots are they Jon ? don't you had problems with them pinging off on .18 line ?
Ballabeni. No probs at all with thick 0.18 and 0.20 line, but I use pliers not my teeth which also helps.
Can you use a keepnet whilst pleasure fishing at this pool?
Yes at Tunnel Barn you can
Hi Jon whats the red tape on your pole for ?
It was to help me quickly identify diff kits on my top kit roost, but didnt really work.
Don’t give me that ‘I’m from Cov’ BS 😆
Lash+2 rigs on 1 winder=Yorkshire
PS Where’s the bananas these days?
Ate my TWO bananas during the coaching day AND I’m definitely not a Coventry boy. Born in ROYAL Leamington Spa I’ll have you know! 😬💪🤓🤴🏼🍌🍌
Jon Arthur Angling you’ll tell me owt 👍
In Russia, too, there is such fishing ,we catch fish in the bath!!
I just catch rubber ducks, but each to their own! ;-)
@@JonArthur If you could just catch a rubber duck on the Volga river!
Are you doing a decoy uk champs video?
It was so hot that day my cameras would've melted... and run out of battery well before the 62nd carp! It'll be on BT Sports however.
Hate getting my bottom destroyed
Ha ha :-)
the downside of fame eh jon! u should wear a wig so nobody recognises u! cracking video again mate
:-)
