Lost my cheetah just there to watch, but with 6500 hostiles in system stuff was not going to end well for me, but that is fine and expected, survived an hour or so even though keepstar at 0 was not the best place :)

Man I started tonight, and the community is so nice. Met someone who bought me my first mining ship and took me on a mining run with a fleet. Super dope game.

To summarize what's happening: there's a war going on right now between the Imperium coalition and a loosely collated organization of coalitions collectively known as PAPI (I'm speaking as a member of one of the two biggest alliances in PAPI, Pandemic Horde). At that poont we'd pushed The Imperium back all the way into their home region of Delve, but Delve is not an easy region to stage a full-scale invasion of. We needed a Keepstar citadel in the region itself if we wanted to effectively project force into Delve proper, and so one was placed in the system of FWST-8 for this purpose. This system is owned by NPCs permanently and so can't be blocked by Imperium forces. The Keepstar is necessary even though the system has NPC free ports in it, supercarriers and titans can't dock in them. Allowing this Keepstar to come online would effectively spell doom for the Imperium, with a foothold in Delve itself PAPI could threaten all of Delve and with our superior numbers could push the Imperium out of Delve altogether given enough time. This means the Imperium had to kill the citadel before it could become fully operational, which is the battle you're watching. The Imperium (I think they're red here but I might just be used to them being red) is shooting the Keepstar with everything they have that can do damage in an effort to keep its repair timer paused long enough to destroy it, while PAPI forces are trying to kill as many of the attackers as possible as quickly as possible to lower the damage on the Keepstar. We got close, but eventually the Imperium succeeded in destroying the Keepstar and won the tactical objective. However, when the losses were tallied, the Imperium had sacrificed enough ships to kill it that they'd lost more dollar value than that the Keepstar itself was worth. This is a major reason why PAPI would gladfully do this again, three more times, until we successfully brought online a Keepstar on the fourth or fifth attempt.

In order to answer that, we have to define what winning is. Is winning killing the strategic objective successfully, or is it successfully draining the enemies ability to fight future battles? In the short term battle, they won by killing the FWST Keepstar. In the long term war, I bet they severely regret sacrificing so many ships that could have been used to further defend their space.

For somebody who doesn't play EVE, watching this is probably one of the most boring video's on games i've ever watched. But i think there is some weird hidden action and complexity behind it which i can't even understand. So thank you for sharing anyways :)
basically all players are on the same server and the community is massive and the game itself is endless so there are things like massive in game wars and people take the game verry seriously because hours of work can be lost in an instant i dont play either but im gonna start soon lol

The huge server itself is an impressive feat. The rage seems to be overall potential of massive multiplayer games. But the game itself sucks. I'm sure they'll get offended. But it lacks any sense of tactical controls like a world of warships game. Think I played some Star Trek game years ago where you took control of all the shows different types of ships, and controlled every feature of it's combat. Eve is just graphics, nothing more to it.

I remember being there when the first keepstar battles happened trying to online them, those were great times.
Fast forward several years and EVE continues to show that it in many ways outpaces ALL other games in sheer scope, even though the cost of the station can be another line item to the large corps, they still prove to be an important enough commodity to have a history of frozen space blood and scrap metal cast around them. Just because you have it doesn't mean you can deploy it easily. :)
I just started playing EVE and im so damn confused but excited! Hopefully I can be part of a war like this.
I've played Eve for a year and a half, and what I can say to you
- Don't take risks if you can't afford it
- Pirates and mercenaries are real
- Always be paranoid and don't trust anyone
Last and most important of all
- there are anime and k-pop/k-drama factions. They both hate each other so don't piss them off or you'll start another war. Yes, "another"

I'm struggling to understand what im looking at when I see these battles take place. It looks and feels like ART, but my mind knows there is so much more under the surface then mere visual expression.

What you see here are thousands of ships duking it out over that big structure. At 26.45 you see some really huge ships. Each of these ships costs anywhere between $1 to $10000 in real money. The structure is even more expense. And those bubbles that you see, those are there to hold those ships from running away.
@@dukeofthedance8062 Its hard to explain, but let me try. Currency in Eve online is called ISK and I believe 1Billion ISK is equal to around $35 or so. And no, nobody takes a real life loan to buy ISK lol. Although one can easily buy ISK using real money, but many players choose to earn it from grinding mobs.
In game player made economy is also real, so the possibilities in EVE are endless when it comes to making money. One can do trading, manufacture items, mine asteroids, transport stuff between systems or even scam other players to earn game money. I personally make my ISK from PVP and grinding mobs. There are many who have earned hundreds of billions of ISK in game so far and yes all this is achievable in just few years. But earning isk just to get into those big ships will be like having a second job.
Also ship sizes really don't matter as much as the fleet size does. So even a smaller ship like a frigate can take down a Battleship. And a gang of cruisers/battleships can take down a capital ship like those in the video. Same goes for skills. Player with fewer but focused skill points can beat a veteran player with 100 million sp all over the skill board on any given day.

I started playing EVE 5 days ago; but after seeing this I am tempted to quit. If this is the best the game has to offer, I'd rather watch some paint dry. Orange or blue - it doesn't matter.

I was a grunt for The Imperium looking to become the FC of a Defensive Quick Reaction Force for my Minor Industrial Section comprised of 4 corps. It's too bad I pulled out of New Eden 1 year ago and missed this, but then again, I would have been here on the frontline most likely in a bomber squad. Thank you for getting this footage. This looked like a war of attrition. It really looks like PAPI Coalition was aiming for the throat. They didn't care about the Keepstar, they just wanted to get the Mittani's most loyal in one place and methodically execute them. I'll have to watch the tribute video after to see the results.

Must be fun...but the years of training it takes on multiple accounts and pilots to get them up to speed on ships and skills and the unbelievable amount of currency along the way makes this game tough to play at that lvl though. Love the game cause its depth is unbelievable.
If you look at the pilot who was filming this, he was flying a rupture, a tier 1 cruiser anyone can fly within a couple weeks of playing at most and is fully insurable so you lose close to nothing of you lose it. Besides that alliances usually compensate for ships lost during fights, wouldn't surprise me if he got the ship fully fit out of corp hanger.

@@Parobro scale doesn't definte everything. I'd love large scale battles in games like starbase, elite dangerous, or star citizen. But i'd much rather have 10 v 10 battles in those games than 100v100 in eve.
Man how i wish gaming tech would develop a full dive vr gear like the one in sao. This type of gathering ingame would be so amazing if it was in full dive gear.

They planned to about 15 years back with a game called DUST but it proved too complicated to implement. It ended up a standalone PS3 game that has since been taken down. About 6 or 7 years back the dev's teased a game called Legion at a fan fest that was supposed to be a successor to DUST but I think it's been since killed off.

I will say this, the developera at Eve are remarkably efficient programmers, always have been.
Old player here 2003. Celtic anarchy Corp... was fun in 2003 to 2006 . If you are free young and single and have plenty of time. Which everyone in the world has now well almost everyone, great game to past the time, but don't expect to reach high lvl for a long time. LOADS of training books to read lol...my name in game was Kyzer . I think 🤔 😆. Many years since I last logged on.
Well the learning skills was removed 2010 and if you had trained all of them you will have 2.1mill free skill points to distribute

Watching battles like this is no different then playing a browser game at this point. You just shoot predestinted damages based on your ship configuration, it fires, it impacts, a flashing gif of an explosion plays, and eventually a wreck shows up instead of what used to resemble a space station. So glad I quit this game years ago. There is nothing spectacular about this.

@@cookiesboi5 Eve is all fun and giggles till u realize u need months of farming or money to get into the good ships xD. I loved it at my time and ill always will but dam its a crazy game.
@@cookiesboi5 First thing to learn is how to speed up skills so you can qualify for better ships, defenses, and offense. Pick a discipline and stick to it til you max. There's going to be a lot of month long training but it's well worth the time spent if you're going to play. I stopped playing when i realized that at higher levels of play, it stops being a game and turns into a life-style... 3am calls to arms suuuuuck....
And then there will be that one guy with a keepstar on their combat log

That red light explosion is most power amongst all, it is literally twice bigger than the whole station. 👌👌It look only 100 or 300 people with giant ship from a distance. If you zoom in there are lots of little ships of group in 30- 40 count.
This is something that Im not able to understand yet I find it fascinating that there are a lot of people behind this...

there was no epic battle. its just a couple thousand of eve nerds. duking it out in superslowmotion. actualy fight prolly would be 1-2 hours. but server time dilation stretches it to 14h or so, in this case. technical stuff. its impressive to look at when ur in the middle of it. but once u done these sort of " fights" a couple of times..you prolly wont be as enthusiastic about them anymore..and tend to stay away from it if possible :D

I just started playing 2 days ago. I caught on to some of the learning curve but I believe it’s just a taste of what EVE has to offer. It’s not the most action inspired but it definitely is a game worth playing. Immersion is great. This game is what a Star Wars Game should be with the addition of being able to walk around spacecraft. This game would be even better if we could explore on foot or be able to space walk. Overall though EVE online is dope.
sort of blows my mind why there was never a star wars game like eve, like have your ship and the whole galaxy as a playground (EA and lucasarts is the answer of course, but still)
cool filling part of something, wasn't there, but remember in gw2 we was 18 they was from 2 serv. 200++ we was fighting 40+ min non stop my keyboard with mouse was burning .
Most of the real battles I've been in were from jumping in without knowing a battle was happening and getting destroyed by 50+ ships

What would be nice is for someone in these damn battles to record without the overlays on. That footage taken by the Jackdaw pilot on the Komodo kill is the standard to aspire to.
I wish in some capacity a medival game could function like tjhis. Kingdoms are claimed theres an economy things you can. Then people trying to over thrown kings, Kingdoms fighting to take lands would be interesting.

I've never played EVE but this looks incredible. The ability to coordinate thousands of ships (each ship = a player?) is mind blowing.
I'm trying to stay away from so addictive games. 15 years ago I've played Ogame for 2 years I was in the top50 best players on the server but at what cost... I had to wake up in the middle of the night to check rapports, build the base, send scavengers, trade, defend the base if attacked, crazy for almost a year I couldn't sleep normally, every hour of sleep cost you so much points. So 1 day I pissed off a top4 player and he attacked me with everything he had... I lost and stopped playing games like this.

Basically, team A is trying to destroy team B's "tower"/"flag" while team B is killing as much as they can to prevent the damage. All the ships in this took months of playtime to gather the resources needed to prepare for a large scale war like this.
I just downloaded this game and if wars get like this I'm glad I'm startinf my Journey

Just Started Eve, each dot is a space ship owned by someone who's spent years developing a ship thats strong enough to fight and to live and friendships where they will not be stabbed in the back, to fight alongside each other to the death in space. Your ship can be zoomed into so it fills the screen, but this size battle with so many ships is mind boggling, Well i thinks that whats happening lol.
I have to ask this guy I know if he was there, he is a huge Eve player. His name is Yohan from Holland I believe.

So though I would never play it I was pump to hear a first hand account maybe with some footage I assume this was a epic battle with plenty of emotions flowing I'd hoped for more dialogue with fraction players
I was just docking that day to get some "Star" Bucks Coffee when I sadly got caught in the middle of a full scale assault. I lost my ship that day!

It's a great time to get back into the game right now. tons of content and fight and all.
2006 account here, and I gotta say the love hate relationship I have with eve is almost always hate. There really just inst a reason to get back into this game. If you left for a specific reason, that reason probably still exists, hell CCP has probably gone to incredible lengths to expand upon the reason you left. Every time i've ever tried to get back into it, I end up staying away even longer than the last time. The last time i was in I actually liquidated all of my lowsec assets and move my character back to highsec just so that if I ever come back, I dont have to deal with the fire sale that comes from finding out your corp no longer exists and all your shit is in hostile territory. Took me 3 months just to farm the materials needed to pull my thanatos out of fuckin storage. It's sold now, wont ever do that again.
@@kyleacampbell then again the most recent mineral redistribution that just happened in the last patch is sure to make things very interesting here in the future. With us destroying so many battleships over five keepstar timers, there is certainly going to be a high demand for highsec activities. And may I say, possibly bring back balance to the force.

Furthermore, I'm not badmouthing things I don't know about, I'm bad mouthing things I do, things I experienced, and things that pissed me off. I dont waste my time bad mouthing things I don't know about, things I couldn't have possibly known would happen, and things that weren't even in the works until a year after I left. But if you insist on acting like a little shit then I guess the only real response I have is that when it comes to things I don't know about, I keep my fucking mouth shut. You should try it some time.
