  • Happy New Year!
Let's start the new year and decade off with a futuristic bus ride. Like them or not batterry electric buses are going to become increasing commonplace in this decade as transit agencies seek to reduce their carbon contributions. While I welcome environmental preservation techniques our battery technology is not yet up to where it needs to be for mass implementation of long distance capable personal battery electric vehicles. Buses which stay around a relatively compact area with opportunity for mid day charging are a good example of what we are ready for though.
I'm still not necessarily sold on Proterras, I haven't seen enough of them just yet, but they don't seem too bad. I haven't heard of as many issues with them as with BYDs. I am still curious to ride a battery electric New Flyer and Gillig, which I expect higher quality from.
Also, this now serves as documentation of a dead route. VTA just made drastic changes to their network including abandoning the 10 in favor of combining airport service into another longer route, the revamped 60 serving from Winchester LR station to Milpitas BART.
