The exterior of the new Sportage establishes new design boundaries, giving it dramatic presence on European roads.
Tense and crisp lines ripple along the refined body, amplifying exquisite styling tensions. At the same time, clean but muscular surfaces join forces with intricate graphics to give the SUV a dynamic and assertive road presence.

From the front, new Sportage showcases a precise and intricate design form with its detailed-orientated black grille graphic stretching across the width of the face. The technical graphic pulls together the main frontal features of the new Sportage, presenting a striking look. The grille links Kia’s modern signature Tiger Nose grille to the distinctive futuristic-styled boomerang-shaped LED DRLs (daytime running lights), which in turn create solid boundary lines for the striking Matrix LED head lamps also known as intelligent front lighting system.
Paying homage to its sports utility heritage, the side profile of the new Sportage creates a stirring road presence with taut lines cutting across clean but refined body surfaces that seamlessly blend the contrasting volumes together.
The European Sportage maintains its strong road presence at the rear with a muscular swooping fastback design that flows into the rear lamps, which have been crafted to give the impression that they cut into the body with fine precision. The razor rear lamps are connected by a slim horizontal design, giving the new Sportage a stunningly wide impression from the back.
Depending on spec and model, new Sportage rides on 17-inch, 18-inch or range-topping 19-inch wheels, with a choice of six different alloy designs, colours and finishes.
The interior of the new Sportage plays with boldness in character, softness in qualities and innovation in technology, creating a driver-orientated space that is truly state-of-the-art. The cabin has been carefully crafted to fuse breakthrough tech with luxury features, premium materials and modern style.

In my opinion the cabin design is much better here than in the Tucson.
The external design is excellent too with properly positioned rear indicator lights - come on Hyundai, get your act together.
I was really sure the Tucson was going to be my next vehicle, now I’m not so sure.
The only part of the Tucson I prefer over the Sportage is the front lights. For everything else the Sportage wins for sure (in my opinion).

How quickly you filmed and posted the video of the Kia Sportage) Thank you! After driving the Sportage, are you still of the opinion that the Peugeot 308 is more interesting and preferable? Considering the Peugeot 308 has a rear beam and the Sportage has a McPherson and all wheel drive. How tangible is the difference in steering and ride? Both cars are attractive in their own way, but the Sportage is insanely stressed by the glossy coating, which must be coated with a film. It's a pity that Kia doesn't offer an alternative to glossy. ☹Peugeot in turn uses high-quality, beautiful and practical materials, which is very nice! 🙂🥰

Sorin it is hard to say. Both are almost identical. Only the design is different. I dont know for me what I will get ...probably the best price 🙂

Hello, since you have driven both cars - which is better - Hyundai or Kia? I am wondering which one to order - Kia is more expensive in UK, probably because it is newer but Hyundai is a bit more prestigious. What do you think. Talking for the same trim levels
Marev both are very good and very similar ....can't say that is a big difference in driving feeling

Hey. Great review. Strange question, do you find the seats to be shallow under the legs? I'm 6'4" and always struggle with lack of under leg support for long journeys. Thanks

Hello, when you activate the adaptive cruise control, can you use your current speed or do you need to choice everytime manually the speed? Can you see the distance between the Kia and the car before you, on the display/dashboard? I’m driving a ds7 and you can always see on the display what’s the car is doing. It’s showing the distance and also an image with green lines if the car is able to detect the lines on the road…
Yes Kristof you can choose the distance between your car and the car in front 👍Also you can set your curent speed and also choose what speed you want
Hi, thanks for the review. You said you have a Tesla Model 3. I’m considering to switch my Model 3 RWD with an hybrid car for convenient reason when traveling in areas with poor charging network. In terms of handling, not performance, is there a huge gap between the 2 cars or not so much. I would target an AWD version of the Kia like in you test.
Florin In terms of comfort Sportage is better 👍 it is a good idea actually. Also I feel like quality is better in Kia then Model 3. Go for full hybrid not plug in

Did you notice any big difference between the chairs on the gt vs platinum ( the below trim ) ? Im interested in comfort over long roads. How about the chassis/driving train , or what are the real differences ? Ive found the sportage a bit easier/lighter on the steering compared to rav4. Not sure in spott mode/or gt. Rav4 feels very controllable and accurate and it gave more feedback from the wheel. The sportage feels ok and better than tucson but rav4 steering wheel turned harder and provided better feeling for me. Not sure vs the sportmode or gt though. Also visibility was better in rav4 and i didnt like thay you couldnt keep the left elbow v well on the window supprt. The electronics though were spot on. Lane assist, cruise ctrl, lcds , everything felt pc like, and 2022. And it has “matrix” leds( they call them differently though- IP)
Mihai you are totally right about the driving feeling...on sport mode will be different but not very much... better you test drive both and see which you like more

Based on this Video I ordered a Sportage Hybrid GT-Line today. I was thinking of getting the Qashqai Epower instead, but the interiour and exteriour of the Sportage convinced me. Now I need to wait aprox. 12 month until delivery :(

Can you use Adaptive cruise control and Lane keeping assist in traffic jams? Like they do it in a new Honda CR-V. It allows your car to drive slowly in traffic without you pressing the gas pedal and actively steering.

Both have similar quality materials and in terms of driving are also very similar because they shard same systems and engines. It is just a matter of design and taste 🙂👍

yeah, just based on that door closing sound, it's still a lower brand, yes it has way more features than most luxury brands, but the details and driving experience will never be the same as a luxury brand. But korean definietly leading the market for the lower brand

Ummm not convinced that real mirror looks reliable and you can gauge better. the camera is ok but I would rely on the external glass. No flickering displays Hooray!
