Whoever uploaded this is a legend in their own right. A classical album. I come here often to be transported to my youth. Who am I kidding, I still listen to these bands every day.
same
classic not classical... but can you imagine these songs being played all Bethoven/Mozarty? hahaha
@dneck yeah, predictive text error. Like your Bethoven, I'm guessing. Punk rock Mozart would be excellent though
@baz6004 hangin out with Moz, down on 6th Street... 🎹 🎻
That base slide on "stickin in my eye". That's Bach
Nofx kills the first half of this album. Then Rancid manages to turn the knob up to 12. This album changed my life. I listen to it at least once a week. thank you to everyone involved in making this happen.
This 👏
Bruh the rancid side of this album is AWFUL.
😅😮
First half of the album Is just "Epic"!!
Agree whit you !!! 👊🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
agree @@OpieRed1
This is legit one of my favourite albums
It doesn't matter who did whose better. They're both great, and it's awesome they did it.
NOFX did it better.
NOFX destroyed Corozon De Oro but th other songs work pretty well.
Weston Long ...right
NoFx shoot the 🦅 everytime. 😆
@@melchizedekful Actually, the Corazon Del Oro cover wasn't that bad.
When this album was released, I was at Warped Tour, and at the end of the festival we were hanging out in the back by the tour buses, there was a box on the ground full of posters promoting this split. Probably 1,000 of them. They became my bedroom wallpaper, lol.
I have one around here somewhere, I think it's orange though.
+Andy Gross (avisioncame) Ia would have done the same exact thing.
send me a couple dude
Yo man send me some too!
broooo i want one :D
Wee need nofx/rancid volume 2
Read read
Best idea I’ve heard in weeks
Yeah. It would make a good idea
Espacially with the new Rancid album 😁
That's how Nofx should wrap it up. I d go to that show
So good. Two of the best bands. Love the bass duel between Mike & Freeman.
Agreed and in my opinion Freeman came out on top but both are great bassists.
@@coldkissofsteel Matt is the greatest bassist of all time. No contest
@@lumc7933 yeah him and Matt Riddle are my top 2!
Mike is every bit as talented when it comes to studio stuff, but just not as flashy as Matt. On Tenderloin, his chops (pun intended) are probably something Matt could struggle reproducing.
0:00 I'm the One NOFX
1:50 Olympia NOFX
4:50 Tenderloin NOFX
7:40 Corazon de oro NOFX
10:50 Radio NOFX
13:46 Moron Bros Rancid
15:42 sticking in my eye Rancid
17:33 Bob Rancid
19:36 Don't call me white Rancid
22:24 Brews Rancid
24:32 Vanilla Sex Rancid
6:18 Antennaes NOFX
Corazon de Oro is probably my favorite.
Not so much this song but Mike really holds his own on the Bass parts, I don't think anyone excepted him to be able to keep up but he really impressed me.
I can't remember what year this was, I kind of remember it being 2001 or somewhere around that time and I clearly remember going back to heavy petting zoo after this and finding a new respect for his musicianship, especially on that album.
I think most people consider Punk in Drublic to be there best album but Heavy petting zoo definitely has more personality. I think the Black and white is my favorite song of there's
@@jimmyjarrett-ws2izHeavy Petting was my first NOFX en has a special place in my heart next to the split album
My favourite of their covers!
So right bro, was only saying to someone the other day that the black and white and freedom like a shopping cart are next level writing, but for me bleeding heart disease has gotta be in the top 10 best songs ever written by Mike, the wordplay and intelligence are just god tier
Olympia, (by NOFX) one of my favorite punk songs ever.
Still listen to this album all the time right here. Still love it as much as I did 12 years ago. Helped me through some tough times
Other bands and albums give me goosebumps like this one. But they are just great at everything damnit.
the bass on stickin in my eye. wow
Kirsty Jones right shits crazy
Matt Freeman is a fucking monster. One of the best bass players ever, no matter the genre.
Gila sih emang
Matt FUCKING Freeman is a legend
Bro, on the brews cover too holy shit I love rancid and nofx
God I've not listened to this for well over a decade. I always remembered thinking that NOFX made the Rancid songs sound like their own - as if they'd written them themselves, while the Rancid versions of the NOFX songs sounded like covers. The Rancid version of Stickin' in my Eye is so awesome though. Every time I used to play it on bass, I always threw in the Matt Freeman intro instead of the Fat Mike version
Lol what? Bob could have been on rancid 2000
@@seraphimdunn I guess the instrumentation is pretty similar, but the lyrics are so obviously NOFX lyrics.
I have no comment on your musical opinions, I just appreciate that you're a Spurs fan. Thank you and Crom bless.
I recall fat mike telling the story of them being approached to do this split with rancid, and according to mike he said: "as long as i dont have to play matt's (freeman) bass lines note for note." paraphrasing of course.
I couldn’t have worded it better my fellow punk rockin friend
One time I saw NOFX & they started with Olympia, WA. it was so dope.
Me too. It wasn't the opener but it was el jefes birthday. Was dope!!!
Saw them in Washington last summer, no Olympia WA but they did play radio which was fucking amazing
@@hyenamgehring9303 this would have been around the time of the split coming out….whatever year that was at house of blues, saw them at house a blues a few times so they kinda blend together. maybe that was the one with frenzal rhomb & mad caddies, ya think so.
It'd be rad to have a split like this with like the Descendents and the Vandals.
Word!!
That would be cool, id love to see The expoited and The virus do it too.
Fuck yeah
omg that would be great
there is a descendant circle jerks album that's pretty nice
matt freeman you're awesome!!!
bopher100 he kills it in don't call me white
That ''Bob'' cover is just amazing !!
2 of the best bands making perfect covers of each other !
wOw
Fuck ya dude so good
That Olympia WA is fuckin awesome. Makes me wanna kick holes in everything as I dance around.
+ES1sub does it remind anyone of Scooby-doo 2 monster island?
Living here has a similar effect
U hear him hit the wrong note
Olympia WA and Corazon de Oro still give me the same shivers that got the first time I listened to them! Love this Album
I've been listening to both of them since high school... and I just found out about this album
what a treasure :)
This is the best BYO split, Rancid & NOFX cover each other fkn fantastically , even like some of them better than the original
in the liner notes for this, Fat Mike writes something along the lines of, "When Rancid asked us to do this, I asked them, 'Do I have to play Matt's bass parts?'" and Matt took that personally on "Stickin' In My Eye."
Haha, onlly a handful of people in the world could play Matt's bass parts.
Grew up with this shit so glad still seeing people listening to this! Such a simpler time!
Damn. Haven't heard this album in a long time. Used to smoke pot and listen to this at the library. Good shit.
the legacy will prevail, since the joint is lighten up right now
NOFX's version of Tenderloin is probably my favorite
Corazon de Oro.. Fuck, it's just... perfect
@@shuukito THANK YOUUU! I've always thought the same. It's such a perfect reimagining. The tempo and Smelly's playing (along with Hefe's solo) is so damned good. I think it gets immediately overlooked the second Radio starts.
Somehow one time I was in Baltimore for NOFX, army crawled through peoples legs until running into the front row barricade. Hack squared some chick out of the way. Mike gave me his vodka cranberry from the stage. Also met Lars once outside of the 9:30 club. Super nice guy. Punk rock is still awesome.
Amazing finger skill bass Matt freeman on stickin my eyes, the best bass player on this genre...
hell yeah that intro noodlin on the bass is so sick - then the rest of it comes in and the song HITS!!
2 of the greatest punk bands making an album together= pure awesomeness
Best split ever imo ♥️🤘👊🖕
Love both these bands. NOFX obviously killed it!
Holy shit!!I love Antennas!!! that song is sick! I did not know it was on this and here I thought I heard all the split......
Aphexxxxx
Antennas-->Corozon-->Radio is one of my favorite sequences of music of all time. Hefe is so badass---whether he's playing trumpet, singing harmonies, singing LEAD, soloing . . . He and Smelly keep that goofy-ass band together. 😁🤣
Yea antennas, great song.
Just learnt it on guitar.
Olympia wa by NOFX, BOB by Rancid, this album is historical heritage
It was so gratifying hearing them do their renditions of the others' songs. It's like a new song but you already know you love it
I honestly never noticed how much NOFX does double-time drumming until they used it in the Rancid songs
One of the best NOFX albums
SO many memories, man... this is pure GOLD!
I own this CD...but finding it on youtube just made me a happy lady!
I vote, that they should do a live show together...I would enjoy that.
For real! I could walk into my front room and spin the disc, but instead I'm laying (Is it "laying" or "lying"? That one always throws me off. ANYWAY . . .) in bed, fartin' the place up, wishing I was on the highway back to Olympia or the Tenderloin, Tenderloin, Tenderloin. ✌ (Let California fall into the fkn ocean)
Agreed. Would love to be there for that show! Especially now 2023!
I've only heard a few of these before, mostly the rancid ones this a cool piece of history thanks for the upload
This album is FREAKIN awesome
the end of nofx's version of antennaes is a nod to youth brigade's sink with california. :3 ~the more you know~
That Fat Albert laugh "Hey hey hey" gets me everytime
Awesome, I remember this! Two of my favorite punk bands. Nice trip down memory lane.
this masterpiece is not forgotten, so, I was so happy when it comes out I was 25 now 47 in 2023 it still rocks best face to face covering songs from the BYO Split Series. its about the quality of these two bands the sound is so fucking amazing.
I love both of these bands albums, but this one is so damn awesome. I wish I hadn't lost it. One of the best.
I love this album with all my heart!
this album was my introduction to both these bands. I jammed this constantly when I was a teen-ager and it may still be my favorite punk album. I still think they did each other's songs better than the originals
INNIT BRUV
i love how nofx described going in to record these songs..
they wanted to them like perfect...even fat mike learned matts bass lines.
Rancid went in and said 1234 go!!!
i think both covers are perfect.
Talk about an awesome album as far as introduction to punk goes!
I was looking everywhere for Nofx doing “Radio” as it had been stuck in my head. I’m glad you’re out there putting this stuff up. It’s history and some of it is so hard to find.
this is an awesome album remember hearing it in highschool matt freeman is just amazing covering fat mike and the greatest thing about it is hearing the creative difference between the 2
Also, Matt Freeman singing on Don't Call Me White is awesome.
NoFX's version of Radio is, in my opinion, best done in the spirit of Rancid and the Clash's reggae roots.
Operation Ivy
olympia wa i just like more than rancids original version
Thank Don Letts...
the best punk rock album ever
This album was so cool
i f^in love this split, after high school life seemed hopeless, punk want the same, then this split gave me hope again
I guess I'm trapped in the past but I can't stop listening to this album I think I was in 6th grade when I first heard this!
I'm stuck in the past too, my friend. I'm almost 43. The other day my mom said, "I always thought you'd grow out of punk rock," yet here we are; it's 2020 and I'm sitting on the john at 6:36 a.m. trying to wake up for work, listening to music I've loved for damn-near 30 years. ✌
I’m Italian, and I’m here at 32 YO in 2022 in fucking in Shanghai. What do I have to say
I bought this album while I worked in NYC 2003 I'd leave this little island in a instant to go back to that moment in time , sadly being a punk is more a fashion statement these days still love this mashup
Punks not a fashion statement dude, i almost dropped my eyeliner reading that!
I always thought I was super lucky to grow up with punk rock parents. My first show ever was AFI and Sick Of It All, first album was Op Ivy Energy. I've seen some amazing times in Punk Fuckin Rawk, but it definitely makes the low times (like right now) seem and feel much lower than they really are.
Plenty of real punks doing it these days for the right reasons. Just gotta keep your eyes and ears open.
jonny webba fashion has always been a big part of punk rock from the very beginning but fashion without statement and social commentary is just nonsense
jonny webba plus now it is compared to any other time and punk rock history it is way less of a fashion statement that I used to be even in the 90s, that's just some old man shit although I do agree music was better for the most part
I play Tenderloin every day.
I live on Jones St.
San Francisco CA
LMFAO the Fat Albert "hey hey hey' on 'I'm the one' by NOFX always kills me.
This was one of the greatest concepts in the history of punk
EXACTLY!
Wish they would do another record
I remember getting this when it was released :) would do what school kids do and argue who is best NOFX or Rancid.
Frazer Scott Only album I've ever camped out for.
I like more the NOFX side, not just because I always liked NOFX more, but because the songs they picked and how they made them sound. Rancid picked simple songs, more "commercial" and their versions sounds like the originals.
RANCID is and always was better
Rancid one of best bands ever👌
L Fredriksen solo albums awesome also👍
Love both bands.
Don't call me white. I loveeeeeeee it.
This is one of those songs that ends meaning more to me now in the current climate than it did growing up.
It's getting more like 'Don't call me human" haha
Matt's vocals
Again I always see u on the good stuff! Cheers!!
Remember buying one of each color when it came out. 20 years ago…no shit!
haha did you ever buy two different colored pairs of chucks to wear 'em mismatched? Reminds me of that...
it's so great that they released this on BYO
Best crossover bands. Remains 19995, smells glue hahaha
Smells like glue
I'm so glad I just discovered this!
loved both NOFX and Rancid for a long time, when i first saw this split album, i was blown away, fucking EPIC. LOVE IT!!!!
I always wondered if the guys from both the bands got together and listened to each others songs for the first time. That would have been a day in music history (for people who like these bands) to be a part of.
joshua hillyard doubt it very much that would be cool but those dudes have been in for a long time they don't even all live in the East Bay anymore tims from LA they're all over the place
Joshua hillyard Ukiah?
I like how Rancid slowed down Don't Call Me White a bit but sped up The Brews!
I could not believe it, my twoo favourite punk bands togheter. I FUCKING LOVE IT
😂I still remember bought this cassette at Under the bridge of Blok M Plaza Jakarta 🤘 wish some day rancid come to Indonesia like NoFX did..
I traded a girl a sum 41 cd for this one when I was in 8th grade. Historic trade. This album changed my life still a favorite till this day. I remember being confused though when I heard the orginal versions of the songs cause i didnt initially know they were covers 😂
Talk about blast from the past. Used to be a little skaterat and listen to this. Pretty sure i downloaded it off Winmx, altho it may have been limewire, who knows...
Fucking Limewire, yes mate.
Hell yeah, I didn't know this exists!
welcome home
I 💕 Melvin‘s voice. 😆
NOFX doing the rancid songs is the way better side of the album
i thought so growing up too but as I get older the rancid sides hit way harder. Olympia WA is too fast and not as good as the OG
Umm, Mike clearly just has more urgency to get back to Olympia, as the lyrics intended, so your argument is invalid! 😂 /s
2022 AND STILL BUMPIN'
Matt Freeman singing always cracks me up. Cookie the punk rock monster.
Lars brings the vocals on Stickin in my Eye !! love it
The original album cover was orange. I actually saw them perform this album live in Las Vegas (HOB). Back in '02.
That's the version I own. The orange one. I don't even remember where I bought it . . . 🤔 And I *might* have been at that show. I saw NOFX quite a few times at the Huntridge and HoB in Vegas. I grew up in St. George, UT and we'd drive down to Vegas all the time for concerts n whatnot.
(Did Lagwagon open for them at that particular show?)
They were released at the same time. The colors changed which band was first on the album.
muy buen album me gusta mucho los dos grupos
This is precious! I used to listen this at the school with my friends. Fucking good!
only listen to the nofx part of this album totally kick ass nofx love u so much
If you give rancid a chance, you'll get it.
It took me a while to get into rancid, now I am, I love them.
I get it but I’ve seen rancid in shows like 9 times great times when in Canada warp tour happened and like small show I remember my first rancid concert in Saskatoon Saskatchewan diesel boys was there GOB and DBS fuck great times love all William
19:36 Matt Freeman is the greatest punk rock bassist to ever live, and I think he should just stick to what he's good at >.>
Bill D agreed but Fat Mike's no slouch either definitely to of the best punk rock bacists ever probably the to best
Smelly is one of the best drummers
Karl Alverez??
I would have to argue and say that Scott Shiftlett is the greatest punk rock bassist to ever live. For those that don’t know Scott is the bass player for face to face and one of the guitar players for Me First and the Gimmee Gimmees.
And Fatty might be #2
This is brilliant from both bands
This album brings me back im 15 again thinking im the coolest kid alive in my leather jacket smoking camel cigarettes and drinking steel reserves
So awesome to actually be able to understand the lyrics to those Rancid songs for once, haha. Not that I don't love them both, but I only get about 50% of what Tim sings most of the time.
really great hearing 2 bands that respect ea other playing ea others songs. I like there takes on ea others songs. TY for posting this. Of course its 2 bands from Epitath
roger white EA sports
i love how they have to complicate the stickin in my eye bassline for matt haha
Overplayed much
@@InfiniteBeak *PERFECTLY PLAYED
This one of the best things that ever happened ever
Wonderful album !!!!
Matt Freeman is such a beast
my 2 favorite bands
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE TIM. ALWAYS HAVE. ALWAYS WILL
Love this version of radio with hefe singing:)
This was my middle school we dream. One of them at least
The best punk bands on one LP.
, thanks for the upload!
woo hoo!120k th play!!
the best punk bands in one cd what can be better
Nofx Opend with radio 2nd time I saw them It was amazing
I'd flip my fucking lid if I saw them open with it! The crowd and put must have. Been memorable!!!
Rancid playing NOFX , cant be a better marriage !
Olympia WA is top notch!
