    Lee Krasner is a genius. When I travelled to the states 10 years ago I cam across these paintings by an artist I had never heard of. How was it one could know Rothko, De Kooning, Still, Rauschenberg and Frankenthaler and Pollock and not know these amazing paintings. Pollock collapses next to Krasner,s works.

    Love Ninth Street Women, which should be a mini series, and this video that brings it to life.

    Lee Krasner finally getting the respect she deserves, it sure took long enough.

    Geweldige artist, love the season & sun painting she is underrated as an Artist woman in that period not so easy. When Willem de Kooning gives an Artist a compliment its huge. Please why are people leaving negative comments on this great artist is so sad.

    Most have called this art movement abstract art or abstract expressionism, but these interpretations do not match because this art movement is called neo-impressionism or neo-expressionism. In Berlin in the 1980s, a group of artists called Neue Wilde was known for this art movement. Today they are no longer relevant for the art market because back then it was marketing and is still today.

    Drinking, smoking, womanizing.- You wonder what made her become attached to Pollock.

    Her paintings are too big for the average home....that might have been the reason for not selling her work.

    Forget about abstract art and the meaning of it. But if she was sad, and painting a picture that was happy, doesnt that make her an objectively bad painter? One that isnt even able to express how she really feels? Polar opposites. Bad painter but great marketing, that's the real art in all this

    IN THE NAME OF GOD...HOW DOES THIS LADIES WORK TRANSLATE TO GREAT ART???? THERE'S NO INTELLECTUAL RIGOR, NO PARTICULAR FORM, NO RULES FOLLOWED, NO COLOR HARMONY. JUST SCRATCHING WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN PRODUCED IN FIVE MINUTES. IT MEANS YOU ARE JUST SELLING A NAME.

    • @audreywoodward
      @audreywoodward 5 років тому +1

      Where i agree with you about Krasner's work not being that great, I dont think you need that full list of criteria to be a great and important painter. And in fact I believe not following rules is a good thing. There are plenty of important painters who's colour harmonics are questionable, and form is non existent.

    • @NnaemekaAmamasi
      @NnaemekaAmamasi 5 років тому +1

      NO SIR I'M AFRAID I MUST DISAGREE. CERTAIN CRITERIA, EVEN IN ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM COME TOGETHER TO CONSTITUTE BEAUTY, TO FORM HARMONY. AN ENJOYMENT TO THE SENSES THAT IS IMMEDIATELY EVIDENT. I WONDER HOW SUCH WORK AS KRASNER'S QUALIFIES AS ART. OR DO WE JUST REWARD HER FOR WALKING TO THE CANVASS WITH A BRUSH?

    • @audreywoodward

      Are we talking about the full fine art sphere or just abstraction?

    • @NnaemekaAmamasi
      @NnaemekaAmamasi 5 років тому

      NO WE CANT POSSIBLY GO INTO THE FULL SPHERE OF FINE ART, ITS VAST, LIFE ITSELF IS ART. AND AS HUMANS WE UNCONCIOUSLY RESPOND POSITIVELY TO ITS MANY FORMS WHENEVER TRUE ART SHOWS ITSELF. ALL I'M SAYING IS THAT GREATNESS IN ART SHOULD BE BASED ON ACTUAL TALENT NOT JUST SOMETHING CONTRIVED AS SUCH. AT BEST THE WOMAN REALLY LIKED ART BUT THAT ALONE DOES NOT MAKE HER AN ARTIST.

      @@NnaemekaAmamasi And yet the experts and institutions disagree. Ironic that your opinion reflects such a reductive description of this kind of art...
