Allyson from Determined to Shine is having us watch this for our homework before tomorrow’s retreat day 2. Thank you for all of the wonderful ideas! I’m sure will be putting one of these together tomorrow but regardless I will be putting one together for myself. This is a fantastic idea! Thank you for sharing!
Allyson Bright from Determined to Shine gave us this video to watch in preparation for the second day of our retreat! I really appreciate a look inside your toolkit! I need to think about what works for me and give it a try! I really like the tea suggestion as my husband is taller than me and keeps the tea bags on a shelf that is more accessible to him than me! So if I have some tea bags in my tool kit, it will certainly be a lot easier! (BTW - he is the cook of the family so he designed the kitchen to meet his needs.) Thank you so much for sharing with us!
I love these suggestions so much. I am definitely going to build my own little toolkit. For sound I think I would include a musical instrument, like a mini 8-key Kalimba (these sound super pretty even when just randomly hitting the keys with no musical knowledge). I would probably also include a mindfulness colouring book, with a handful of pencils in soothing colours (like a lavender purple, a pastel blue, a pale pink, etc). Another option for both taste and scent is lip balm - some of them do actually have real flavour you can taste, and it could be a good substitute for the tea bags if you are out of the house and don't have access to hot water.
So I’m catching up on a lot of videos that I missed while I was taking my social media break and I just had to note...I LOVE that you mentioned the mugwort “tea” trough at Olympus spa....I associate mugwort with self care for the same reason!
Allyson from Determined to Shine is having our retreat group watch your video for homework before our 2nd day tomorrow. Thank you for sharing all of these wonderful ideas! I’m assuming we are building one tomorrow during our retreat, but I will be building one regardless. I know I want to add some incense for smell, clove gum from my childhood for taste, one of my oracle decks, one of my coloring books and colored pencils, definitely a couple of crystals and I’m not sure what else. Thanks again!
Wonderful Lisa - what a lovely idea. I have never actually consciously sat down and said to myself okay in whatever funk/ whatever situation I may be in, what is it I might need in terms of scent/ sound/ sight/ touch/ taste etc. I would really like to make myself an actual box as and when I need to. I think for me the ceremonial lighting of a soy wax tea light and some beautiful incense is up there in terms of it's ability to help me to unwind and to feel more tranquil. Bathing as well of course with herbs and oils and definitely certain decks. 💓 Thank you for sharing lovely! Hope you and Peggy and the boys and the fur babies have a wonderful and safe new year. Much love 😘 Xx
Incense is great for a self-care kit!! I went with other scented things because I can't always burn incense as it depends on how Peggy's doing (she is more sensitive to such things than me) but that's a GREAT addition!! Happy New Year!
Love this idea! For sure going to have to do this when I'm not being lazy. I have a stuffed animal that you can out in the microwave that smells like lavender and a lavender smelling eye mask. Also I'd include my cat but he wouldn't stay in the bin. My crystal Unicorn deck would be in there but I keep it out all the time because I use it a lot. I really like that 365 day book that you mentioned so i think I'll buy that. I think you did a great job of mentioning what you put in yours I can't think of anything else I'd want in mine. Something to help with anger because I don't manage that in a healthy way. Thanks for sharing!
I love this. It reminds me of the “quiet time sensory bin” I put together for my kid when he was a toddler. Just a bunch of sensory toys to ground yourself in your body and move those big emotions through your body. There is so much about parenting that could be applied to ourselves!
Love this video! I think I could definitely use a toolkit. I never think I'll need it until I do haha. I'd probably put in a stuffed animal or two--something to hug and pet and talk to. I have this lavender pillow spray that my aunt got me which is great, it's just a little mist of lavender to spray in the air or on my chair, really refreshing and great scent. Something to listen to would also be important for me, maybe I should make a playlist of relaxing/comforting music. Looks like I've got some work to do!
YES Playlist!!! I had that on my list to talk about but because it wasn't a physical item to pull out of my kit I forgot LOL. But I always have a go-to empowering/feel better playlist ready to go on my music app on my phone! And I have stuffed animals everywhere so they're just a part of my life but something to hug is a GO TO for me.
To do with the smells and your sachets - think of it like when adding herbs to your cooking - you generally crush herbs (or bruise fresh herbs) to help release their aromatics and oils - same with your sachets 😁👍 thanks for sharing your items❤
I had it on my list to talk about and forgot! But I always have a "make me feel better" playlist loaded on my phone in my music app filled with empowering songs!
Soooooo, I ordered ur book from Amazon as a Christmas gift to myself and it was nabbed by a package thief!! 😡😕 Now I'm anxiously awaiting my replacement copy. 🙄 #impatient lol!

I loved this video, it gave me a lot of ideas. I’m going to add a playlist of my favorite songs that lift me up or that I just really enjoy to the mix

This would also be SO great as a gift to a friend =)
Yes it would!!! A self-care ... care package!

TRUTH!
I love what you have in your self care kit! I’ve put a few things on my wish list already! 😄💖
Great idea! I used to have something like this, but I think I need to make one again.
Depending on what's going on, I'll setup a semi-permanent one or just put one together as needed!
