Nice. Good insight into how cover bands dial tones for gigs. Once the volume is up and its mixed in with loud drums and such, its plenty close enough if played right! Another note-a super simple blanket mod to that sd-1 will get that tone when the gain is maxed and the tone is a little over half-

I've had a lot of luck in clubs with an affordable low wattage, master volume (15w) EL84 amp with the gain turned up a bit, on the clean channel, with a Boss ST-2 power stack with the gain at zero and the level pushed a bit. Mine is a Traynor YCV15, not to be confused with the YCV50, which is too raspy. It's obviously based on the Vox AC15 with a tighter bass response and a bit prettier treble. I had an AC15 and it worked just about the same way, but the bass needed to be trimmed back a fair bit more.
Basically neutral eq on the ST-2. I also use instead a handwired tube screamer for the older AC/DC sounds, and sometimes just the slightly dirty amp sound for the older Malcolm sounds. The tricky bit is trying to get the bass response right. You can if you are careful.
    "Let's get it up."

I'm the guy on the right with the SG. You can hear my sound clearly in the Prechorus riff.
And here is "You Shook Me."
I'm using the rig above and the lead guitarist on the left is using his Fender Mustang and a Jekyl and Hyd OD.

Yea, he said that in the very beginning of the video. But, most people can’t make their amps that loud or the cops will be called every 5 minutes by your neighbor.

Yer a little slow ain't ya? He said all that and we're trying to get the tone without having to crank the amp wide open! If you open yer ears and shut your mouth you would have picked up on that already Homie!

@@cobowe I agree, great tutorial but way too much gain, not clear enough but then as others said, it's more the tone of Angus rather than Malcolm. Malcolm's tone is unbeatable, it has the crunch, power and clarity.
