Nice Demo. Thanks. If somebody wants to use degassed solvent for any reaction with prolonged heating, vacuum should be released by flushing argon or nitrogen gas inside the flask instead of air. This way the solvent stay free from air for a longer time. Happy reactions!

Lol, how do you know that you do not evaporate methanol instead of degassing it ?
When used properly, 1/2 square of Parafilm would have been sufficient for this application. Parafilm is intended to be STRETCHED to create a seal.
