@@josephgarner94 - But darn near everyone you asked was younger, open minded or Gay, with what looks like the Austin or Dallas skyline in the background. I’m in Dallas, ask most inner city people these questions and they will answer politely and with open mind. Go an hour in any direction to say Sanger, and you’ll be facing some harassment, rude responses and open intolerance.
Edit. The queen in front of the shop who said he wasn’t gay... Get TF outta town, LOL!

Two complex topics, I challenge people frequently with the collision of Christianity and the LGBTQ community with the intention of teaching. I say if your using the Bible as an excuse to hate someone you didnt read it. Judgemental Christians give the rest of us a bad name sadly. Thanks for the video, was incourging!

Thanks, Joseph, for your willingness to take on issues like these, especially the last question about whether you can be both gay and Christian? I have identified myself as being a Christian for longer than I have identified as being gay. When I realized I was gay, my relationship with God did not change at all, despite all of the messages that I was receiving that said that the two were incompatible. At that time I was also on active duty in the Army and the official position was that homosexuality was incompatible with military service. Well the long and the short of it was that I stayed closeted in the Army and in the church for quite a while. I now go to a church which officially says that "all are welcome." Recently I outed myself completely by doing a presentation on being gay and being Christian and challenged people to make sure they knew what they meant that gays were welcome. Does that come, for example, with conditions? Will you merely tolerate me as long as I "behave" and don't hold a boyfriend's hand or even mention him during coffee hour. It is bold to ask strangers questions like these, but in some cases it is even more scary to ask people who know you these same questions and challenge them to answer honestly. By the way, one of my favorite stereotypes about gays is that we constantly trying to recruit others to come over to our "team."

Zilker Park in Austin is like thee most liberal place in Texas, hands down and what is really weird is that many LGBT citizens who live here in Austin work for the state and subsequently have some say so about state matters. For instance, there has never been a problem with a gay couple becoming a foster parent. It is funny however how conservative republicans always portrait run down Detroit as the example of liberal democrats. When I see these commercials I say to myself well, what about New York City, Boston, Miami, Austin, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis, Los Angeles - they are all liberal democrat led cities. They might have some issues but they are all powerhouses - LOL

Fantastic, stupendous, magnificent !!!!! See that guy out your window doing continuous naked backflips....that's me being overjoyed. Due to being brutally outed in Jr. High, and believing in my absolute innocence, I studied and questioned environmental, religious and governmental implications and came to the conclusion the truth known and lived by the LGBT community would allow humanity to evolve into a new world order. You have proven you care and you think, and you don't go for being a guy trying to be a bad imitation of a woman. Question me any way you want, but I don't think anyone can fault this truth. Good Grief man, can we talk.

thanks for this video I enjoyed it a lot. I support the lgbtq community even through I am the member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I do feel like there are some judgmental members of the Church and Christens but there are a lot others that are not. I feel like we should accept everyone of their differences because I know Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father would. I feel like we talk about not judging other by what their doing or what mistake they did or the kind of person they are because we're not prefect. But some of us forget about that lessons we are taught. Accouple weeks ago one of my friends shard a message about we need to love everyone including the LGBTQ community, and give them more support, love and that they disserve to be treated better, and loved as any of us because they are people too, and Gods children too just like we all. We are all children of God the Father, and we need to show it. I can't remember what ells he said but I 100% agree with him. I wish we could all work, and live together with out haltered and fear. Sorry for this long comment but I just what you to know you and the other gay community that your are not alone I'm her, and there's other that are here for all of you. We should all live in Harmony and love with one with each other. I just want you to know not all members of the Church are judge mantle there are lots of good ones you just need to find them. Anyways Hope all goes well for you, and you have a great day.

Great to see your video and that your okay through all you've bee through. Radical religious conservatism what you're describing was also life in the 70s. Nothing has changed, apparently. A very important movie and read on sexuality and religion is the book and movie "Prayers for Bobby." But in it, an Evangelical mom finally gets what you are saying only after losing her son. May God bless you and always be with you. He loves you so much, just the way you are. Here is a Word from the Lord he gave after a 30 minute near-death experience, "“Can a mother forget her child? Should she not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, though a mother forget her child, I will not abandon you." Isaiah 49:14 In my near-death experience (see" Proof of the Afterlife 2") God the Father speaks and reveals himself as my Father behind a gray screen, "I will not abandon you" and "A Message of Mercy." The people of our world, ourselves and our parents are all, 100% severely disordered. The only constant is love. God is love. Unfortunately, even our friends and partners will fail us (as you already discovered) from time to time or all the time. God is the only single everything that we can surely count on. You are loved. You are a child of the Father. He is yours and you are His.

I've never 'disliked' any of your videos before so it was difficult to dislike this one but with only 2 options I would have preferred a more neutral choice. My main grievance was it seems you chose mostly young and all (mostly?) white people to interview. As an older, gay latino male and father of 2 girls I am interested in hearing points of view from a diverse pool of individuals and not just the demographic represented here but those from my end of the pool. However please keep up your good work.

There is no reason to be part of a religion that by definition hates you in their official written doctrines. You can cherry pick the doctrine, but reality is reality. The bottom line is faith is not a good reason for believing anything. We should all require demonstrable evidence to support any and all beliefs. Deity claims do not hold up and never have. We are the God of our lives, there is no one to pray to and no one to “take care of you”. That’s just simple basic observed reality.
