    Great little review. I got mine after seeing them on your IG.
    Great to see how bright they are at a distempered I never tested that out.
    Only little issue I have with them is the price of replacing the 4 batteries is higher than getting a new.
    Maybe the manufacturer should try a different set of batteries so they last longer and are cheaper to replace/find

    Alternatives? Not sure if this is relevant now but since I’m watching this vid years later thought I’d add. Just not a fan of the coin cell batteries but they do work in these lights well. Coleman brand that run on AAA are great though if you can find them. Believe they are marketed as kid’s flashlights. Alternatives that I use. Been running the Streamlight Protac 2AAA as main edc light. Just works for me. Anyways had a Coleman light stick strip out on me but found the light casing with a little trim fits on my streamlight and turns it into a chemlight. I keep it in my edc bag with 2 spare AAAs. I slide one battery in the clear tube, then wrap a red balloon around the second battery and drop in. Holds batteries in place in clear tube and if using clear tube on streamlight, I can slip red balloon over it to make it a red chemlight. Similar option is the Lifegear version for roadside warning lights. They use coin cell batteries too but have magnetic base for attaching to vehicle panels and small magnetic coin base for standing up on the road. Sold in packs of 3. These are too small to go over my flashlight like Coleman’s but the base on the lifegear is red and it does friction fit over my Streamlight. Turns into a shorter version of a red chemlight. So too heavy to clip on vehicle panel but does work with the coin type magnetic base. Hope this helps anyone for DIY type solutions using existing edc lights and gear. Thanks!

Opened it, which required a different video than yours and couldn't figure out how to get the battery cartridge out from the bulb assembly, being afraid of breaking it. While I was fiddling with that, the screw fell onto the carpet (maybe I don't need that). Well... that was worthless. Tried the white one and it fired right up. I just hope those batteries last a long time because they are NEVER getting replaced. Great idea ... poor design.

      @@MoorlanderEDC Even top-quality, best maintained kit can have failures, when least expected. The military use chem sticks as they are tried, trusted and nothing mechanical to fail, lightweight, waterproof, dirt resistant and float. No extra tools or batteries needed at all. IR type can also be used with trip wires, to illuminate a target, for laser targeting, etc. All types of sticks and IR (Black Light) markers are, instant use and reliable chem action. As for switching on and off, tactical light covers are used, that fit over chem stick, lightweight, rugged and strong, with multiple light settings. Map reading, marking, signalling, etc, etc. And full off, no light escape. Duration of a single stick is from 5 Mins to 24 hours depending on the particular need within any given operation. Due to the chemical nature, they also have far more uses than I can safely record here. LED type does not tick all those boxes and more besides. But I do agree they may be OK for civilian camping trips etc, where you may have time to mess around with them.

    Most of the use cases of glow sticks are not to mark yourself, but to mark certain areas, or am I mistaken?
    By my understanding in military application glow sticks are mostly used to mark doors, pathways etc as taken / friendly occupied. The last thing in a raid you want is to have your second team to walk thru the door in your back and shoot you from behind.
    No real point in picking those up again, therefore chemlights are used.

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Peter, thank for the comments. I think you're right here. I'm coming at it from mainly a civilian or general EDC stand point. If you're walking with friends in the dark, it's easier to spot a friend ahead and follow them. Or maybe if shool kids are walking home in the dark they can be used for a light to be seen. Whilst camping they're great to mark your tent or where your camp is. Even things like Mil Sim, they're great to turn on but also have the ability to turn then off if needed. I keep a couple in my car for the winter. It's rare that I'm every snowed in or stuck, but they're there just incase I need to mark where my car is rather than keeping my hazard lights on. Uses batteries, not an alternative.

      Hi Christopher. I think my original title was a wee bit click bait'ie. I think the traditional chemo light and these LED lights should live together to compliment each other. Thanks for watching buddy

    I dislike video for the clickbait "stop buying chemlights" because it has no sense.

      I can see why you mean click bait, sorry, however I'd definitely say it makes sense. These are a great alternative to chem lights. The ability to turn on and off is a huge help. What I probably should have said is these work perfectly with chem lights. They both have positives and negatives. It's all good buddy. I hope you're well and you have an awesome weekend. Thanks for watching 👍
