A DOCTOR thought Tina was the nanny rather than the mother of her own child. Tina and Anton are parents to two-year-old Michelle and 10-month-old Mila. Michelle was born early and went into special care where one day, Tina was with her daughter and a doctor came in but waited for a few minutes so Tina asked if she was waiting for someone. The mother-of-two explained: “She [the doctor] said, no, I'm waiting for the mom to come because I have to talk to her about something. And I'm like, I'm the mom… The doctor said ‘sorry, I thought you were the nanny’.” Tina said the doctor apologised and the new mom forgave the mistake but added: “After that it actually dawned on me, I have to be ready when I go out of the hospital because anything at this point is possible.” They have ID cards for their daughters which Tina takes with her when she’s out with the children “just so I don't get asked questions that I'm not prepared for.” She has had other instances in public with people questioning if she is her daughters’ mother and decided to post about her experiences on her social media in a video which went viral. She said: “I just want to be a mom. I just want to be looked at as a mom. I don't want to be always attacked with that question.” The couple focuses on positive comments and enjoying family life. Anton said: “I hope we can continue this journey with all the followers and show people how amazing our children are.” Tina added: “My genes are going to fight back in the next round.”

It’s obvious that Dad has strong genes. But the children do favor the mum as well. It’s funny how genetics works, you never know how the children will turn out.
It's not because his genes are stronger. It's because the mom is a carrier of the same genes. The genes the father and children exhibit are recessive, so they cannot show up in their phenotype (physical traits) unless the mom has those genes. If mom wasn't a carrier, the children would have looked more like her phenotypically.
The kids facial features are hers. Their colors are his.

People are so ignorant. 🙄🙄🙄 My son is black but a lighter tone with brown hair. And because my sister is also a lighter tone, people assume if they don’t know us, that my sister is my son’s mother and I’m the auntie. Leave people and their children alone!
I hear how annoying that can be. My son is only 12 months old, his birthday was on Saturday, and he looks exactly like my wife and nothing like I do. He’s blonde, fair skin, blue eyes, I’m darker complexed with brown hair and brown eyes. But if I ever faced something like this, despite how bad it would feel because I’m his dad, I would be grateful that strangers are looking out for kids. DHS “lost” over 300,000 children from 2020, to may of 2024 and they were brought across the border. They are being found in sex trafficking and illegal child labor facilities. My biggest fear of all time is someone kidnapping my son. I pray people will keep their eye on his protection even if they are strangers
Happens to me and and my younger light skinned red-brown haired brother across Europe. Even fellow black Eritreans assume we can't be biological brothers. Interestingly it happens across Europe, in particular in Germany where we were born, but not in Eritrea during vacations even before internet. Africans already educated on genes with less access to education. That's progress

Genes are absolutely fascinating... a doctor should absolutely know better though, this isn't THAT uncommon... her daughters hair isn't just ginger, she still has her moms texture. People are silly.

@@robynhayward They are in the Netherlands. Plenty Africans and Carribbeans (Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, Suriname were colonized by the Netherlands) here and therefore lots and lots of mixed people. That doctor must not have been fully awake that day

I had a fair skinned child and dealt with many of the same issues. My child is beautiful and now that my child is older they do resemble me in facial features yet the skin is still fair.
My mom experienced the same thing with my brother and I. We are both very fair, tall with wavy hair and she’s short with dark brown skin. Ppl often asked her if she were the nanny when we were little.

My daughter is a lot darker than me, so I kept making sure I had identification for both of us as well. I understand that infant abductions are a thing, but it’s kinda silly.

My hair is naturally the color of a penny which is copper colored auburn (red hair). Based on how I look some children in elementary school thought I was adopted based on the race, skin colors, hair texture of my parents. Once, when my son was little, the nurse thought he was a child, I was babysitting because we have different hair textures and he looks Hispanic. My son now looks like me in the face and it does not happen as much
