    There is a problem with the heat map. Shipping Cost 41364 shows in red instead of green. When you Select Square and increase the size, the size increases with all dimensions, not only the length.

    Kind of unbelievable that something so simple requires such an elaborate workaround. Thanks for sharing!

    I'm producing dashboards for Finance and tables are quite important still for visualisation for this group of stakeholders so this video is really good! Thanks for putting this up since 2014 and I think it was done by Andy Kiebrel who is a Tableau legend.

    It blows my mind that it takes this much hacking to get such a simple feature. At any rate, this tutorial is hugely beneficial. Thank you!

    Thanks for taking the time to make this video and also linking to it in different places on the forums. I knew it was possible but totally forgot this approach. Even when I started working through the steps I really needed the hand holding even though some steps seem sort of obvious at this point. Thank you!

    Great video is was very helpful. Is there anyway to right align the text within the dual axis? Usually financial numbers look better right aligned in a text table. Thanks!

    Can you please let me know how to get the alignment as right for the measure values in above kind of dual cross tab report? I went to format option for each measure and clicked right alignment, but it did not work.

    Good evening and thank you for a very good tutorial. Can you assist me with the following error message? Cannot mix aggregate and non-aggregate comparisons or results in an IF statement.
    The calculated field is as follows:
    IF [InReportMonth] THEN SAT% END
    The calculated field for SAT% is;
    AVG (IF [SAT] = "Yes" THEN 1 ELSE 0 end)
    One of the things I am trying to do display is SAT for both InReportMonth and InPriorMonth, but unfortunately the error comes up.
    Thank you for assistance.

    I'm afraid that there is some issue in the final highlighted shipping cost column. As the legend shows on the left it changes from $450 to $41364 ranging from red to green. But in the worksheets the shading of the $41364 is red. Actually I figured out that the shading is not that size, they are VERY LARGE squares and they overlap with each other. So how to solve this problem, thanks.

    • @davidfeldman5649

      Step 1: change the field from "square" to "bar" -> Step 2: set the top axis from 0 to 1 -> Step 3: set bar size to max. Hope this helps!

    Thank you for the informative video on conditional formatting. It was a a life saver.
    I was able to create the visualization using this trick but sone values show up indented to left while others are in the center. How can I fix this issue. Can you please help!

    • @theinformationlab
      @theinformationlab  Рік тому

      Hi! I'm so glad this video helped you so much 😊. About the indentation: have you changed the aggregation of the title measure to 'attribute' (meaning it's showing as 'attr' instead of 'sum' or 'avg', etc.)? If you have changed the measure to an 'attribute' then this changes how Tableau computes the 'sum' of it and will also change the text display position. Another place to check is the formatting of the text, see if they are all centre-aligned.

    Thanks for the upload - this is a very helpful work-around. I'm curious to know though if there's a way you could go about doing this while retaining the ability to sort by one of those columns?

    Good video, thanks for the workaround. Anyone know if excel-style conditional formatting has been added as a feature in the current version? I'm running v 2019.1. What an ordeal to accomplish something so simple.

  • @mrkosmoo2
    @mrkosmoo2 6 років тому

    Hello, has anyone figured out how to change what data pops up when you hover over certain values in the worksheet? After completing everything shown in the video, I am now seeing every single column for the specific row instead of just the information for the specific cell I'm hovering over. Thanks!

    Hi, at 8:23 when you use square marks, some of the numbers which are in green gets converted into red which is wrong. For example, shipping cost $41k should be in green. Any idea how we can fix this.

    Great video.. But if you see the last few steps.. The Shipping cost formatting is messed up due to the square size ... The one highlighted in green wasn't supposed to be green at all.. That green belongs to "Chairs and Chairmats" .. Basically the color and Text aren't in sequence .. :(

    When you use the "square" mark, the squares overlap and therefore don't show the correct color to line up with each row...

    • @FPrimeHD1618
      @FPrimeHD1618 5 років тому

      It seriously is. In my previous job I used Power BI and had never used Tableau. I moved to a different job and was super excited to try out Tableau. It has been a pretty crappy experience. DAX is amazing, I miss being able to use ggplot2 R visuals, and Power Query is light years ahead of Tableau. I miss Power BI lol.

    You need a lot of trickery to get this software to work. Seems like a new player can totally take over the market if they just make some software where everything is intuitive and this kind of stuff is not needed.
