Let me encourage the listeners to stick around for the last 15 minutes of the speech. Thank you David for giving me some much needed purpose to serve this day and to play my part in this country I love.
Brooksy brought the funnies, lol. One of the more truly evolving minds of the culture, and of society, that's trekked from the deep, dank corners of Buckley Conservatism to -- in my observation and readership* (see below) -- an organic maturation to a space unmoored by political grooves, and pegs. It's rare, especially nowadays, to see voices free from the echo chambers, and it's refreshing. These speeches/talks he gives are gems (somewhat hidden, compared to clickbait UA-cam music videos, pranks, or bloopers). They're a great trailhead to catch one of the best voices doling out free nugat of his experience(s), and understanding(s): and his evolving life formula; sheer curiosity/desire to learn, an honest sensitivity to fact/experience, and a big heart to guide, and understand it all. You're welcome, Brooksy -- you, and Marky Mark (Shields, who else) can pick up dinner. Cheers. (Noted: I've been a New York Times subscriber for 20 years, a lifelong NPR junkie and ATC listener, and a PBS Newshour fan since MacNeil Lehrer, which reflects a fairly long distribution of Brooksy's Times' columns, and Newshour, and ATC's appearances.)
Ideas do not have GDP, militaries, histories, dominant languages, and so on. The U.S. was founded on ideals, but is a country like any other at the same time.
Uh, no, we have wildly different ideas about power and distribution of resources. We can overcome some cultural bullshit but not the stuff that matters.
Watching this in 2020 knowing the future of Minnesota is hilarious as this progressive blames everything from depression to Steve Bannon for nationalism. 🤣
Absolutely inspiring and refreshing. I loved, “The Road to Character”. Thank you David.

Great speech. More people should hear this.

You are right. This guy is refreshing; he speaks with the voice of reason, not fear and anger.
@Rawlings why?
Excellent! Insights built around the concept of cultural shift. Watch it!!
