Honestly my favorite verse is Mat’s. I _love_ the flip on Cam’s “Aloha to the Alola” catchphrase (since “aloha” can also mean goodbye; basically Necrozma gonna blow everyone and they mama to Jerusalem), his wordplay is _always_ on point, and the “Moon Knight” rhymes just punch you in the face with their intensity. But also *NATURAL DISASTERS AND MOONS GETTING BLASTED, TIDE SHIFTIN MEANS THAT A TITAN HAS LANDED*

I want to bring attention to two lines in specific. “They want to see me X’D But they’ll never be a shadow of me” This is a reference to the spin-off game Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. And the Pokémon on the cover of that game is Shadow Lugia. “Now it’s Aloha to the Alola” Aloha to the Alola has been a commonly used line to open up Gen 7’s part, as Aloha is commonly used as a greeting in Hawaii, what Gen 7 is based on. But Mat4yo actually flips it using it as a goodbye, which Aloha is also used for. This is mainly a set contained reference to previous cyphers, but it’s a fun flip. And so I don’t get called out Alola is the name of the gen 7 Region and is a word used exactly like Aloha in game. There are plenty of other great references, as we have come to expect, but those two were my favorites.

A lot of these anime rappers been releasing vanilla tracks that’ll do numbers for sure, but won’t be taken seriously outside of the little circle of UA-cam they rappin for. I wanna see more creativity in anime rap and people progressing themselves as an artist. Shwabadi is such a great example of this bc back when he was rapping in 2019, he was always lower tier verse for me. But since then, he’s evolved so much as an artist I can play his songs to people that aren’t just in this little circle on UA-cam❗️❗️

I think the reason stuff like that happened is because most people who found out about nerdcore rap liked it because it was heavy with references to their specific tastes, like anime and video games. So if someone in the nerdcore circle dropped a vanilla track, people didn't like it because it didn't hit all those references. I'm glad to see people like shwab, peso, dps, and dizzy are starting to change that though.
