You should invite Chris again when you watch a live video. As a musician, I would say it's guaranteed that he will be blown away. Headbanger is a great song to watch live, and I think you'll understand why we love the live versions so much. Especially for a musician, "Road of Resistance" is a great watch, but it gets blocked a lot. Another great one to get a good look at the band is "Rondo of Nightmare" with the "Mischief of the Metal Gods" intro.

Great reaction(s) again. We told you all about 'Iine' (that is iine pronounced ee-neh) last time, so I won't repeat that.
'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday, but there is more to it than that. 15 is when compulsory education ends in japan, so she is also coming to terms with the fact life will change for her now. She will no longer be considered as a child and those first 15 years have passed by so quickly, so she is etching this special night into her heart so she will never forget.
Su-metal was still only 14 when it was recorded (Yui and Moa were 12) so it is not biographical, but they could relate since they were already starting to play metal concerts.
The neck brace is a tribute to classic Japanese metal band X Japan's drummer, pianist and main composer Yoshiki who damaged his neck so badly head banging that he needed surgery and had to wear a neck brace most of the time.
The girls were so impressed with the guy who came in for the video to do the helicopter headbanging that they called him "Hedoban Kami" (god of headbanging).
Live 'Headbanger' is so much better ... I was so happy they had it on the set list for the 2020 UK and Europe tour so I could experience it for myself.
please do repeat how to pronounce the title of Iine. A lot. Hearing her say "line" is really jarring.

The best Metal songs ever about a) tropical fruit, b) saying "That's Nice" in Japanese (iine, not Line) and c) the story of a girl attending her first Metal gig. Because it can't always just be about Satan.
I will split my comment - so this one is for 'PA PA YA'. As this was the official video it had the studio audio, but there is a video of this performance with the live audio (it is even better), so part of what you missed here was Su-metal calling out to welcome F Hero to the stage.
This was filmed in Yokohama on the Saturday ... the video was produced and released within 2 days on the Monday after ... in the meantime BABYMETAL had flown to the UK overnight and were on stage at Glastonbury at Sunday lunchtime and playing in Brixton, London on the Tuesday before heading back to Japan.
'PA PA YA' is a summer festival song - about a spicy green papaya fruit salad. F Hero is a rapper from Thailand and was rapping in Thai to the same rhythm as mixing the ingredients for the salad with a mortar and pestle.
They are pretty much saying that, much like the salad, mixing the right spices into life will make that better too. This was filmed on the second night at the start of their 2019 tour. F Hero flew in to Japan specially for the first two shows to perform with BABYMETAL in person.
The instrument you heard in his second verse was a traditional Thai instrument that he suggested to be added.
The third girl in this video was one of three dancers brought in to take turns filling the third spot in the choreo after Yui left the band in October 2018. This was Kano's very first show with BABYMETAL - she was still only 14 years old.
If you see BABYMETAL live remember to take a towel (or buy one from the merch stand) to swing around your head for this song. Seeing everybody doing that makes Su and Moa happy ... and we all want them to be happy all the time. 🦊
The Kami Band are the instrumentalists for all live shows since early 2014. You will not see or hear them in any official videos (you will see them if it was recorded at a live show, you won't hear them) as they do not do the studio recordings.
Originally they would wear white burial robes and corpse face paint. At the end of 2017 the robes were changed for black ones and in 2019 they started to wear the masks you saw - nobody likes the masks.

Babymetal started as a part of Sakura gakuin which is a idol group for the Amuse talent agency. It was a school for girls up to 15 years old and was limited to 12 members. They focused on acting, singing, song writing,... to prepare the girls for a career in the arts. Many of the graduates have become profesional actors, radio djs, etc... they would form sub units of 3 with varying themes like cooking club(where they'd sing about food), tennis club and metal club which later became babymetal. So the early songs were written by its founder Koba metal while now they hire a variety of top songwriters and producers. Which is why there's such a difference. They had a very small budget to start and now it's practically unlimited.

I would add Rondo of Nightmare live at Budokan Black Night to that list, since they seem to like doing three songs per video. I would also like to add a strong recommendation to watch these specific performances, because A) there are lots of other live ones that will get blocked and B) there are a lot of compilation videos of dubious quality floating around out there.

Probably my favorite EDM Dance Rave HipHop Kawaii Metal song of all time. : )
It's too bad they haven't performed this song since they toured the Southern USA with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in April of 2017.
'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' was one of the earliest hits.
Even though the song is about a fifteen year old girl attending her first heavy concert, Su was only fourteen when the single and video were released.
At that age she was on stage, rather than taking the train to see concerts like the girl in the song. : )
'PA PA YA!!' is a Summer festival party song. Matsuri Da! (It's a festival!)
I wasn't aware of him before this collaboration, but F.HERO is a well known rapper in Thailand.
Somtam, or "papaya pok pok" is a spicy Thai papaya salad that's mentioned in F.HERO's rap section.
Crushing the sweet and spicy together in the mortar to release their flavor is used as a metaphor for life.
It's spicy and sweet, but you have to pound everything together in a mortar to bring out the flavor.
BABYMETAL's producer Koba went to Thailand to record his vocal tracks for 'PA PA YA!!'.
F.HERO suggested adding accents in Morlum, the Thai folk song genre, and Koba liked the idea.
They got a Thai producer named Thitiwat Rongthong to help with the traditional instruments.

Babymetal is a group under the Entertainment Company of "Amuse Entertainment, Inc.". Currently, Babymetal are on their own Lable of "Babymetal Records".....they were formerly under the "Toy Factory" Label of "BMD Fox Records" ('Babymetal Death' - Fox Records*?) and "Sony Music Babymetal" (world wide)....think I remember that correctly..LoL!! Its been a minute! Someone will correct me if I'm wrong..LoL!

Lately Amuse made new company called Kulture, Kobametal was the CEO, I think this new company only focused for managing, distributing, selling all the new things/merch from The Other One album/realm.
If you're going to react to Babymetal then you should react to the live videos of their music,it's where this band thrives and shines. FYI, they just announced they're going to release a new song a month until March when they release a new album. Also they're going to play two concerts in Japan at the end of January

Hi Lexxy and Chris! Sorry to hear you video got blocked, but kudos for winning the dispute (I assume since the low viewcount and it's been almost a day uploaded). Usually these three songs are relatively safe from blocks so I'm surprised to hear about this. Could you let us know which song(s) caused the block?
I'm guessing maybe it was because it was three songs together in one video that might have triggered it. Well if you get blocked again maybe you'll need to separate out reaction videos for each song (but still record them in the same session if that's easier).
BABYMETAL videos can be a bit of a minefield because certain videos will get blocked guaranteed. Luckily though, we generally know which ones are safe and also ones that are safe with an overlay (watermark). For example, the Megitsune MV tends to get blocked often so I'm a bit surprised your other video wasn't the one that got the block. If that does get hit sometime in the future (yes this happens), just slap a watermark over the Megitsune section and re-upload with a note saying it's a re-upload due to block and we'll totally watch it again, lol.
For now, I've suggested three live performances (in a separate reply) that are safe from blocks, without need for any modification. I'll explain the watermark thing in your next BABYMETAL video as to not overwhelm you with info! Any questions please let me know and I'll try my best to answer.

Catch Me If You Can is a fun song watched live.
The reason for the masks is, well, consistency. Their band is the Kami-band, basically the Gods of Metal who took over ordinary mortals (there's an interview with their drummer who was asked how long it took him to get into costume and he said "what costume? The Kami just takes me over and that's it"). Originally, the band members wore white robes and facepaint to symbolize this, but as they got bigger after their second album, they, well, expanded the band into an "east" and "west" band (the east being the original band and the west US musicians) and to keep with the whole Kami lore, all of the band members wear the same outfit so that it would be less obvious that there's different musicians.
Watching a BabyMetal MV instead of LIVE is like having a red Ferrari but only driving it in first gear.
you should review the later version of headbanger as they change their presentation and they're a few years older and it shows.

Great reaction and glad you brought in a new "victim". Babymetal has been with the same production since their debut in 2010. Amuse is the company name. They are releasing their 4th album March 24, 2023 and most likely break records. I agree with the majority of responses saying their live is the best. And Su, the main singer does not lip-sync. They had ceased activity for a year due to COVID, since they thrive on live shows. Their "comeback live" is Jan. 28, 29, 2023 in Japan!

Age plays a part here. For Pa Pa Ya the lead singer is now in her 20's. Yes, her vocal range is lovely.
Almost all Babymetal songs are not what we expect. They kick ass and make everyone smile like silly. Yet the lyrics are profound or even cryptic AF. And their live performances are mindblowing theatric productions. They are just their own thing. Labels don't apply to Babymetal.

they didnt show the band much here. . but if you do catch me if you can and rondo of nightmare both live, they really display the band big time
19:35 Not in hiatus. They create a full album and then tour. The only time they had to stop was during the Pandemic. Since 2010 they have made 4 full albums and 4 word tours, also with participation in other festivals across the globe.
22:14 The band was incorporated for their second full album. Previously of that they haven't a band. Everey resemblance of musicians are "air bands" that just pretend.
24:31 The old song are not real band, just faceless performers. After that when the band wears mask it means they aren't their "elite" main band, who don't travel abroad. This was probably recorded in their concert in Los Angeles.

I don't think that I can help with the copyright advice for the videos not to get blocked, but I think another person in the comments kindly shared some ways to avoid it (like watermarks or maybe even making the videos you're watching a bit transparent, etc). One thing I remember is how one of the Kami band members have said: iine is actually really hard to play live because it was never designed to be played by a human. 🙂

While their MVs are fun to watch, they never quite live up to the ridiculously high standard that their live performances are set at for me. Highly recommend watching some of the live performances. I'm sure there will b many suggestions of which ones to do in the comments.
Iine was only their 2nd song ever, and that was before their first album was even in production. Not to mention, that was still back when they were still so small that they didn't even have a backing band yet.
also, 'Line' is actually is "EE nay", what looks like a lower case L is actually an upper case i.
I've seen several live shows and they do switch out guitars between songs. They also have backups that the stagehands need to run out and bring in case of emergency

Babymetal uses some backing tracks (like the growls), but they are not auto-tuned for the vocals in general. The girls are amazingly talented. Su-Metal is the lead vocalist, while Moa-Metal and formerly Yui-Metal were the backing vocalists and dancers (Yui left and now they have Momo-Metal).
Iine is their 2nd song. They did not have musicians back then. Of course the instruments in the MV are electronic.

They are with a different record label. When iine (not Line) was recorded, Babymetal was still a sub-group of Sakura Gakuin, and the song was released to promote the Sakura Gakuin album. Later Babymetal would break off into their own act. Sakura Gakuin recorded under Universal Music Japan, Babymetal broke off in 2013 and recorded with Toy's Factory and Juonbu records, before founding their own label, BMC Fox Records

Old Skool piano is from Mozart era ir earlier.. called Harpsichord. In this case it's simulated but still sounds awesome. For some insanity driven reason i'm having flashbacks of Lurch the groaning butler, from the Addams Family tv series "playing" the Harpsichord! 😁

6:52 I think that's actually "eurobeat" going on...as that part sound a LOT like an older genre of J-pop music call "para-para"...which was heavily influenced by Eurobeat. An example would be the group Hinoi Team(long disbanded). "Ike Ike" and "Night of Fire" would be a few songs of theirs that I'd suggest to get an idea of what Para Para was.
You just started your Babymetal discovery, there is still a lot so I would definately recommend to stick with them!
That being said, some other amazing and interesting japanese bands are: Lovebites, Hanabie, Band-Maid, Nemophila, Ladybaby, Unlucky Morpheus, Broken by the Scream, Passcode, Trident, Miscast, Greed Five Egg's, Aldious, Mary's Blood, Wagakki Band, Sokoninaru, Doll£Boxx, Kari Band, CHAI... (feel free to add more ;)
The one with the masks are probably 'Kami Band of the West' those are all form the united states and the ones with the painting are Kami Band east. The Kami Band consists of 9 members, so it doesn't really matter who is playing, i guess, but rather who of the members has time at the moment.
Which live BabyMetal songs should you react to? All of them. But top of the list would be Road Of Resistance live from Japan and Ijime, Dame, Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014. The Sonisphere performance is legendary for BabyMetal and marks their emergence onto the international metal scene.

"PA PA YA!!" is a dance song with an underlying massage of striving for personal excellence, collaboration with a very well known Thailand rapper from Chiang Rai name Natthawut Srimok nickname Golf but known popularly by his stage name F.HERO (Fukking Hero) and specialise in the Hip-Hop and Rap genre. "Papaya -Pok-Pok= Thai pun phrase means Som-Tam, Thai food made up from papaya-chopped mix up with chilli, tomato, garlic, palm sugar, lots of vegetable and others depends on varies area. Iine!, is pronounced [ee-ney] not Line. This is Babymetal experimenting with different genre, possibly the most genre into one song. Japanese rave, hip-hop, death metal in one song and EDM. Background and release:-
Unlike previous tracks released by the band, which had her vocal recorded in segments within the songs, Nakamoto had her lines recorded in a single take several times. She had been told to sing and find a story within the music. By the time she had comprehended the story behind the lyrics, she grew capable of singing the entire song naturally. When Mizuno and Kikuchi listened to her shouting "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" for the first time, they felt as if they had seen another cool side of her, surprised by the vocal power. Additionally, the single introduced the members to the whispering style of singing, with the A-side's "Kiero!" (Disappear!) and the B-side's "Uki Uki Midnight". Kobametal was inspired to use it to contrast traditional death growls.
"Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" was announced as a single on April 27, 2012, with a release date set for July 7, 2012. The single was released in two versions: a standard edition, available via CD and digital formats, and a physical limited Hedo-ban ("Head edition"), which contains a CD and a "neck corset" (actually a cervical collar) for headbanging training.[5] Both editions of the single feature the songs "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" and "Uki Uki ★ Midnight" (ウ・キ・ウ・キ★ミッドナイト, "Exhilarating Midnight"), along with instrumental versions (labeled as "Air Vocal ver."). The standard version contains an enhanced CD with a bonus music video of "Babymetal Death", which can only be played on a computer. The artwork of the standard edition depicts a lyric in the song, specifically when the girl is headbanging with the corset, with the crimson-colored moon in the background, as well as the band name appearing at the top. The limited edition artwork depicts a temple scripture of the "Corset of Legend" with the song title spelled out in the middle.
Before the physical international release of the song, its title was written ambiguously as either "Head Bangya!!" or "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!", the latter of which is officially used in the international re-release of Babymetal and all future releases. The former took place on Suzuka Nakamoto's actual fifteenth birthday, while the latter was the opening song for the concert. Try watching the clips live, Babymetal is known to be one of the most competent bands live, "iine" is one of the oldest songs from when Su was 13 and Moa and Yui had 11 years, they were really kids when they started and nowadays they are me is 24 years old and yui and moa are 23 years old, many things have changed from 2010 to today, they started with the fear of being made fun of and they rocked their first festival which was Sonisphere in 2014 they were scared to death since at the festival in front of 50 thousand people.
After that came the second studio cd which was well received, also came a collaboration with Rob Halford in a presentation, they gained respect from legendary bands, soon came the death of one of guitarists and also the departure of one of the dancers who was also backing vocalist due to illness, soon after the third studio cd and soon after the sealing of them after 10 years of work, They announced on 10/10/2022 the dates of their comeback in 2023 and also the release of the fourth cd next year! Good reaction. Babymetal, without knowing its history, is very difficult to interpret. Babymetal was born as a subunit of a larger idol group called Sakura Gakuin. Sakura's structure represented the middle school of Japan, so the 15 girls that made up the group (aged between 10 and 15, middle school time) were distributed in school clubs and one of them, As a personal experiment of one of the producers, a lover of Heavy Metal, it was called the heavy music club. The power of SuMetal's voice seemed to him wasted for jpop and he wanted to experience the fusion of pop with metal. An experiment that no one had high hopes for, but got permission from the production company (Amuse). Su was 12 years old at the time, although she had been working since she was 8 and Moa and Yui (the backup dancers and singers) only 10 years.
His first songs were songs aimed at a children's audience, especially girls, between 10 and 15 years old ("Iine", "Ijime Dame Zetai (a song against Bullying), "Catch me if you can" and "Doki Doki Morning" to give some examples.

Also Tokyo Dome was in 2016, they performed at the famous Budokan in Tokyo in 2014. A much smaller venue.
Yes, I do think it was Iron Maiden as the closer at Sonisphere, but that was many hours later.

It is directly about a dimension in ruins. They will have visited in their travels. Within the context of their concept album. They directly refer to Ragnarok here, which is the destruction of the world in Norse Mythology.

Then Road To Resistance was a collaboration with DragonForce & battle anthem basically. In closing, two of my favorite live performances were "The One" perfomed at the Tokyo Dome.
Along with Rondo Of Nightmare Mischiefs Of Metal Gods at Budokan Live Intro. I believe it was their Black Night performance if my memory serves me correctly.

Minor point, but there has been no 'hiatus'. BABYMETAL are 'sealed' (not performing live shows) while work progresses on their fourth album, THE OTHER ONE, due for release March 2023. The seal will be broken at the end of January 2023 when they have two arena shows in Japan. BABYMETAL is wrapped up in a lot of lore that protects the real world people playing the characters of SU-METAL and MOAMETAL. The downside of this lore is you have to read between the lines a little to work out what's going on.
We have been told to expect a new single before the end of October.
