One of my top doom/stoner metal albums, a little blackened, definitely heavy, but still slow-rolling those spliffs. I love how a lot of stoner metal is just straight up about weed puns in their titles. Marijuananaut has to be my favorite example, but Dopethrone is awesome, and makes me think of Darkthrone which is all-time classic.
Had no idea you'd be into this album, it's one of my favorite metal albums. The riff on Funeralopolis is the heaviest riff I've ever heard, it never loses its impact on me.
this is genuinely one of my favourite metal albums ever, an insanely heavy (and consistently good, considering the length of some of these songs) listen
My favorite metal album and one of my favorite records of all time. The guitar tone is so nasty, so damn fuzzy and heavy, with great doom metal riffs akin to Black Sabbath
Dopethrone is some top top teir Doom/Stoner metal!! I really need to relisten to this one. Have you ever listened to Sleep? Dopesmoker is a must Doom album, its mostly just a single ~45 song.
Everyone brings up the stoner element with this band, which is important, but even more important imo and not discussed as often is their love of horror. In particular British horror movies like The living dead at Manchester morgue, Witchfinder general, and The devil rides out, are a huge influence on them, and this record I think is the closest an artist has come to making horror as a music genre. It's what I think makes them so much better than their countless imitators, who only dig into the weed side of the sound.
as someone who doesnt follow any of heavy metal or its subgenres (im mostly a rap hip hop guy), funeralopolis might be in my top 10 songs of all time. found it by chance via spotify like 2 years ago and its stayed in my daily mixes because i listen to it so much haha. love the rest of the album too
I listen to little-to-no Rock, but I've always had a respect for Dopethrone. The first ODB album, Return, '95, a weird, frightening early Wu that leans towards an RnB album, directly influential on most current dark experimental stuff. Crack-addled madness. Crude, punk as fuck.
Dopethrone, the band is even better. Check out the albums Demonsmoke or Hochelaga. Apparently they didn't get their name from this album but I believe both bands are cool about it.
I've been thinking about that. I might start doing rock albums to some of my favorite bands going forward, especially since they won't happen too often. If Tool ever does another album, I'm definitely reacting to that.
Hey Bob, maybe ive missed it but what's your opinion on Deftones? I know a ton of hiphop fans nowadays really like Deftones but opinions on them seem really mixed from the more "older" rock and metal fans
I like Deftones. I used to be really into them, but kinda stopped listening over the last 5 years or so. No real reason why... just happened. Love those first 4-5 albums though
I was literally listening to this the other day, coming home from community college and hitting my bong and putting on my fave stoner doom albums are some fond memories
Dopethrone is incredible. Love that album.

Bongripper.
Great pick this week as always, this album is fantastic
I'm mainly a rap fan and I love this album

Dopethrone has an insane guitar tone. It gives me asmr lmao
Great choice! Come My Fanatics is a classic too. Pure crushingly heavy metal
you put me on to this type of rock, and my friend gave me this to listen to. need to get it on CD and happy you suggested it
Doom Mantia is prob my fav electric wizard song, came out the same year but on Come My Fanatics
this is genuinely one of my favourite metal albums ever, an insanely heavy (and consistently good, considering the length of some of these songs) listen
haha Bob this was a delight to see. This is my favorite record!
Doom/stoner metal is one of my favorite subgenres of metal, and this one is truly one of the best and most classic doom metal albums ever
My favorite metal album and one of my favorite records of all time. The guitar tone is so nasty, so damn fuzzy and heavy, with great doom metal riffs akin to Black Sabbath
I fucking love this album
so good
Dopethrone is some top top teir Doom/Stoner metal!! I really need to relisten to this one.

I have, and it's insane. I don't put that one on as often, but I need to
Oh what a treat! Really liked this one.
I'd add on to this:
Reverend Bizarre - In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend
Putting it on now 🤘

I love the guitar tones on this album
Been watching you for awhile, never commented. Fuck yeah Electric Wizard

When you get into one of these groups there's only a couple ways to get out
I listen to little-to-no Rock, but I've always had a respect for Dopethrone.
The first ODB album, Return, '95,
a weird, frightening early Wu that leans towards an RnB album,
directly influential on most current dark experimental stuff.
Crack-addled madness. Crude, punk as fuck.
Great album
Have you heard when the kite string pops by acid bath? Great metal album.
Normally metal is not really my thing, but this album is amazing
YESSSSSSS Electric Wizard are amazing. Those guitars have chest hair on the strings, so furry.
Dopethrone, the band is even better. Check out the albums Demonsmoke or Hochelaga.
Apparently they didn't get their name from this album but I believe both bands are cool about it.
Great album. You should really react to liquid swords by GZA
You should start reacting to newer rock albums like diaspora problems by soul glo and glow on by turnstile
I've been thinking about that. I might start doing rock albums to some of my favorite bands going forward, especially since they won't happen too often. If Tool ever does another album, I'm definitely reacting to that.

ua-cam.com/video/d_cWV1oZtzY/v-deo.html he did a Sunday Suggestion for ATF and Adrenaline
He recommended Around the Fur and White Pony recently on one of these so I'd say he's into em 😎
I like Deftones. I used to be really into them, but kinda stopped listening over the last 5 years or so. No real reason why... just happened. Love those first 4-5 albums though
Bob PLEASE listen to no stylist by destroy lonely
Oh hell yeah the heaviest band in the universe
do the weeknd thursday album
please react to danger mouse and black thought cheat codes!!!
molasses metal
Never thought I would see a Black Metal album recommendation 😭 Definitely their most consistently solid album imo
My suggestion to you is Scxrlxrd. That’s fuckin HEAVY rap
I was literally listening to this the other day, coming home from community college and hitting my bong and putting on my fave stoner doom albums are some fond memories
