Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson was criticized for not being a good pocket passer, Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray was criticized for his lack of studying. Ric Bucher is right and wrong about QBs being critiqued the same. The example would be Brett Favre vs Mahomes, both QBs have a very similar style of play and it's common knowledge. Favre was called a gunslinger, but with Mahomes it's "street ball" coded/racial language for the same performance. And Mahomes is more accurate. Lol

The scathing criticism of Goff, Wentz, and Mayfield doesn't have people up in arms calling out racism.. no because that's not the standard of defense, the reflex to incite racism whenever a person of a particular color is criticized and you just want to stop the talk. This is just another tool to use to take advantage of a situation and wear down the orgs who are handing out the contracts. Bottom line, these guys aren't criticized on any level near the way a white guy could be and yet, when it is done the media and all else make it out to be far worse and something that it wasn't about. It's sensitivity until something explicitly wrong and unfair is said.

Yes, all QBs are criticized. But they are not criticized the same way. Were people saying Steve Young ran too much in 95, after he had won a SB and was in his 5th year starting? Did people question Allen's ability to read a defense? Did they say he can only play street ball? No, they questioned his accuracy.
Did people question Brady's ability to read a defense at 27? And if you scoff and say 'of course not, he was one of the best in the league at it!', well it is as ridiculous to say the same about Mahomes.
What makes Mahomes great is his ability to carve defenses apart within structure. What makes him one of the best of the last quarter century is his ability to create when that structure breaks down.
There are certainly things to criticize about Mahomes (he has a tendency to bail on clean pockets early from time to time, he tries to do too much sometimes when the rest of the team is struggling), but to question his intelligence/mental progression is to show your ignorance of what type of QB he really is.
