As someone diagnosed with tourettes, there are a million qualifications, and all of them have to be met. Also suppression of tics is possible but its actually painful like holding in a cough. Elphaba is quite a specimen that needs help.
Exactly. It takes a year minimum of constant tics and having so many tests done it's ridiculous. And if I suppressed for the amount of time she's on live for I'd end up putting myself in the hospital. I've suppressed during CAT scans and MRIs and I've almost broken my own face after from how violent my hits were. Three pairs of glasses dead, and many bruises. I'm not even allowed to use knives right now because of one of my tics 😓🤦🏻♀️
@DearKrisW I'm so sorry to hear that. Mine aren't as severe as the most I've done is given myself a couple black eyes and whiplash. But I agree that suppressing for the extent of time she's on live would be impossible and very painful to even attempt. I gave up on suppressing years ago unless I absolutely have to because of how unhealthy it is. Also, im curious about what tests you had to do? I was just interrogated before getting a diagnosis and then discredited in the same breath
@@Angel-nx5mnI was first cleared by my Neuro Surgeon since I have other health issues that could have caused body jerks (MRI, and even a discectomy done in my neck as it was believed it could be causing that instead of paralysis as it normally would), then I was seen by a normal neurologist to be tested for epilepsy and seizures. My blood was also tested to make sure it wasn't serotonin overdose. Once everything was cleared, and I hit the one year mark from when the tics started, a psychiatrist assessed if the tics had changed and or became more complex. That ruled out it being related to stress or any other mental health disorder!
My eldest has tics (he’s ADHD not Tourette’s) and he’s said it hard to suppress them. It hurts and it makes them worse. As a parent who lives with children with varying degrees of ADHD and being on other spectrums, it’s so easy to see Elphaba is faking it all.

Spending her transition money on designer goods is infuriating. As a trans woman I can attest to the fact that medically transitioning isn't cheap, even through the NHS. Laser hair removal and certain surgeries aren't covered so many find the cost a hard barrier to overcome.
I have tourrettes and my friends showed me her ticking.. Made me laugh straight away! She also missed a big part out about supressing it. If i suppress my tics it builds up to be so much worse. Ask anyone with the disorder about it, they'll all stay the same. Elphba is from my area, I'd love to see her..
I just want to preface this by saying that I was diagnosed with autism at 7. I'll say this in Elphaba's defence, (which I can't believe I'm doing), having a special interest, be it a film, a science, a franchise, anything, is absolutely an autistic trait. And because it's so difficult to get diagnosed with conditions like autism and ADHD, self diagnosis is entirely valid, provided it's well researched enough. Plus there are more neurodivergent trans women than neurotypical. Love you both, and your content, but I felt like I needed to address this specific issue, so you can both be better informed. ^^
Hey. I’ve been tested for autism, ADHD. I know the process as I’ve been tested and I’m diagnosed with ADHD. I know it’s a trait. But it’s also a trait with simply just enjoying something, or more so in my case, ADHD, by hyperfixating. I am educated on these issues, I’ve experienced them too!!
yes having a special interest/ being overly obsessed is a autistic trait but she used that as her main reason for having autism when people who don't have autism also can be overly obsessed and have special interests that doesn't mean that they are autistic. not to mention yes self diagnosis may be valid but she entered a contest for people with autism when she hadn't been diagnosed she may think she has autism but you can't fully be sure until you are diagnosed plus she has a history of lying just for the sake of clout. also when she is called out for being a horrible person blames everyone else and says they are being transphobic which infact has nothing to do with her being trans she just uses that to cover her ass when she gets called out. she has caused so much harm not only to the trans community but also to people with disabilities
To be fair I have sensory overloads for example loud noises , I hate raves , hate party’s , and she frequently attends those , so I think she may be lying
One thing to note, being obsessed with something is a trait of autism. When I got my diagnosis they asked me if I had any special interests or obsessions. My diagnosis was £680 she spends hundreds a week on takeaways. She could easily afford it

1. Elphaba needs to start saying she has impairments. If you suffer from the symptoms of a disability or condition but don't yet have the diagnosis, you have impairments. People might be less offended if she used that language. 2. Elphaba mentions meltdowns and hyperfocusing, yet doesn't consider she may have ADHD lol, or some other condition. It isn't just autism based on her traits. 3. If she used her donations to get private GP referrals and a private autism diagnosis, it would be done within 2 or 3 weeks and she could then claim to have x, y, and z based on the outcome. Instead she wastes money on useless stuff she doesn't need when clearly she needs mental help. 4. Just because people with autism say you might have it, doesn't mean it is true. They aren't and have no right to gatekeep who has autism. They are not an authority or a specialist with expertise, unless they actually are lol.

I’m actually sick of seeing Elphaba treating these things like the next big trend! Self diagnosis, as was said in the video, can be valid in certain circumstances, for example when you can’t access medical care, but in the uk it is possible, very possible, although it’s quite a wait for things like that as it’s not an emergency situation, and so if waiting then you tell people you’re waiting for an assessment. Don’t just say you’ve got it in the meantime. The only genuine reason for not seeking an assessment and saying she has it is that she’s not confident enough she’d be diagnosed at the end of an assessment and despite what she said in her video, she does want it! But in general, as someone who is autistic, no, self diagnosis in the uk when you have ample access to healthcare, self diagnosis is not valid! Considering I got comments taken down for calling someone a name for saying people with chronic fatigue syndrome are just lazy yet people like him (the guy who said it) and Elphaba get away with talking all sorts of shit about all sorts of people is absolutely disgusting! 🤮

I really do believe 'what if I don't have it' or she just can't be arsed. she is a brilliant example of how to NOT handle situations... waiting times are terrible. but if you've known for years but haven't acted, it's on you. I take full responsibility for taking 23 years to get my ADHD diagnosis, I applied when I was 20.
They don’t tell you to self identify! They make you fill out the biggest questionnaire my daughter has adhd add and more then on the spectrum with autism. My 8 year old is now finally getting the tests so far he’s defo on the spectrum but we don’t know how much yet. And again adhd add and other things. I can hands down say camhs do not tell you to self identify! Along with them they make the school do the same test and at home test. Then your put with a physiatrist and they are involved big time. Dont self identify its offensive and crazy

the thing with autism is that diagnosis is a privilege, and while i personally don’t think elphaba is autistic, self diagnosis IS valid so long as you do the appropriate research and meet enough of the criteria. getting a diagnosis for autism is incredibly difficult, especially if you’re not a little boy and in many places having an actual diagnosis of autism hinders your everyday because of bullshit laws that prevent you from doing everyday things. australia recently passed a law where you have to jump through even more hoops to get a license if you are diagnosed with autism, and in queensland not having a doctors certificate to drive can get you up to $9000 in fines. and when going to the doctor can be inaccessible because of costs and lack of resources in the medical industry, many autistic people can’t drive in fear of getting a fine, which would put them in an even worse financial situation than before with the current housing crisis and rampant inflation. and because they can’t drive they can’t work. anyway basically self diagnosis IS valid, but elphaba is a joke and she is using autistic people’s struggles to gain clout.
diagnosis in the UK isn't a privelidge though, it takes years to get diagnosed, but I've been tested, and I wasn't even reffered for Autism testing. it is a barrier, but in the UK it definitely is accesible to anyone who requires it. it is a shame it is so hard as you say in other places although
Well, it can depend if ur a minor or adult. Both are free, but Cahms (child adolescent mental health services) is what diagnoses children with disorders/disabilities/behavioural conditions ie autism. It takes AGES, and many have to go private. As a minor, I'm friends with ppl who are waiting for a diagnosis. And from what I've heard, it's EVEN LONGER for adults. TLDR: Mental healthcare/any kind of diagnosis care in the UK is free, but is dogshit and takes ages to even get a diagnosis 🥴🔫 *edit: it is slow unless you pay for private, which is a kick in the face for your average folk👍

Spending her transition money on designer goods is infuriating. As a trans woman I can attest to the fact that medically transitioning isn't cheap, even through the NHS. Laser hair removal and certain surgeries aren't covered so many find the cost a hard barrier to overcome.

I just want to preface this by saying that I was diagnosed with autism at 7.
I'll say this in Elphaba's defence, (which I can't believe I'm doing), having a special interest, be it a film, a science, a franchise, anything, is absolutely an autistic trait. And because it's so difficult to get diagnosed with conditions like autism and ADHD, self diagnosis is entirely valid, provided it's well researched enough. Plus there are more neurodivergent trans women than neurotypical.
Love you both, and your content, but I felt like I needed to address this specific issue, so you can both be better informed. ^^
Hey. I’ve been tested for autism, ADHD. I know the process as I’ve been tested and I’m diagnosed with ADHD. I know it’s a trait. But it’s also a trait with simply just enjoying something, or more so in my case, ADHD, by hyperfixating. I am educated on these issues, I’ve experienced them too!!
I agree self diagnosis is valid IF you plan on doing something with it AND if you do the research.

yes having a special interest/ being overly obsessed is a autistic trait but she used that as her main reason for having autism when people who don't have autism also can be overly obsessed and have special interests that doesn't mean that they are autistic. not to mention yes self diagnosis may be valid but she entered a contest for people with autism when she hadn't been diagnosed she may think she has autism but you can't fully be sure until you are diagnosed plus she has a history of lying just for the sake of clout. also when she is called out for being a horrible person blames everyone else and says they are being transphobic which infact has nothing to do with her being trans she just uses that to cover her ass when she gets called out. she has caused so much harm not only to the trans community but also to people with disabilities

One thing to note, being obsessed with something is a trait of autism. When I got my diagnosis they asked me if I had any special interests or obsessions. My diagnosis was £680 she spends hundreds a week on takeaways. She could easily afford it

1. Elphaba needs to start saying she has impairments. If you suffer from the symptoms of a disability or condition but don't yet have the diagnosis, you have impairments. People might be less offended if she used that language. 2. Elphaba mentions meltdowns and hyperfocusing, yet doesn't consider she may have ADHD lol, or some other condition. It isn't just autism based on her traits. 3. If she used her donations to get private GP referrals and a private autism diagnosis, it would be done within 2 or 3 weeks and she could then claim to have x, y, and z based on the outcome. Instead she wastes money on useless stuff she doesn't need when clearly she needs mental help. 4. Just because people with autism say you might have it, doesn't mean it is true. They aren't and have no right to gatekeep who has autism. They are not an authority or a specialist with expertise, unless they actually are lol.

I’m actually sick of seeing Elphaba treating these things like the next big trend! Self diagnosis, as was said in the video, can be valid in certain circumstances, for example when you can’t access medical care, but in the uk it is possible, very possible, although it’s quite a wait for things like that as it’s not an emergency situation, and so if waiting then you tell people you’re waiting for an assessment. Don’t just say you’ve got it in the meantime. The only genuine reason for not seeking an assessment and saying she has it is that she’s not confident enough she’d be diagnosed at the end of an assessment and despite what she said in her video, she does want it! But in general, as someone who is autistic, no, self diagnosis in the uk when you have ample access to healthcare, self diagnosis is not valid! Considering I got comments taken down for calling someone a name for saying people with chronic fatigue syndrome are just lazy yet people like him (the guy who said it) and Elphaba get away with talking all sorts of shit about all sorts of people is absolutely disgusting! 🤮

I really do believe 'what if I don't have it' or she just can't be arsed. she is a brilliant example of how to NOT handle situations... waiting times are terrible. but if you've known for years but haven't acted, it's on you. I take full responsibility for taking 23 years to get my ADHD diagnosis, I applied when I was 20.
They don’t tell you to self identify! They make you fill out the biggest questionnaire my daughter has adhd add and more then on the spectrum with autism. My 8 year old is now finally getting the tests so far he’s defo on the spectrum but we don’t know how much yet. And again adhd add and other things. I can hands down say camhs do not tell you to self identify! Along with them they make the school do the same test and at home test. Then your put with a physiatrist and they are involved big time. Dont self identify its offensive and crazy

the thing with autism is that diagnosis is a privilege, and while i personally don’t think elphaba is autistic, self diagnosis IS valid so long as you do the appropriate research and meet enough of the criteria. getting a diagnosis for autism is incredibly difficult, especially if you’re not a little boy and in many places having an actual diagnosis of autism hinders your everyday because of bullshit laws that prevent you from doing everyday things. australia recently passed a law where you have to jump through even more hoops to get a license if you are diagnosed with autism, and in queensland not having a doctors certificate to drive can get you up to $9000 in fines. and when going to the doctor can be inaccessible because of costs and lack of resources in the medical industry, many autistic people can’t drive in fear of getting a fine, which would put them in an even worse financial situation than before with the current housing crisis and rampant inflation. and because they can’t drive they can’t work. anyway basically self diagnosis IS valid, but elphaba is a joke and she is using autistic people’s struggles to gain clout.
diagnosis in the UK isn't a privelidge though, it takes years to get diagnosed, but I've been tested, and I wasn't even reffered for Autism testing. it is a barrier, but in the UK it definitely is accesible to anyone who requires it. it is a shame it is so hard as you say in other places although

It's free but there is a VERY long wait list. Usually around 3 to 5 years. But you can pay to see a specialist which is fast but expensive
Well, it can depend if ur a minor or adult. Both are free, but Cahms (child adolescent mental health services) is what diagnoses children with disorders/disabilities/behavioural conditions ie autism. It takes AGES, and many have to go private. As a minor, I'm friends with ppl who are waiting for a diagnosis. And from what I've heard, it's EVEN LONGER for adults.
TLDR: Mental healthcare/any kind of diagnosis care in the UK is free, but is dogshit and takes ages to even get a diagnosis 🥴🔫
*edit: it is slow unless you pay for private, which is a kick in the face for your average folk👍
