My man come on. VP is ALWAYS between the fist 3 teams for years, is unbelievable how Empire drop then and they are still on TOP. #3 at six invitation. Lets go VP.
Fun fact, after losing 2-1 to Elevate on the qualification match to Montreal, Bleed beat Elevate 2-0 to qualify to APAC CUP 2024, which was 4 days later.
I do think you are sleeping on Elevate quite a bit, Firstly they did very well in Asia for groups with only one slip-up loss to bleed which in Bo1s you can understand, Secondly, they beat the No Cap (old Thai Elevate) to get to the final vs Bleed which I see as the third place Asia team after the fall off of Fury this stage. Lastly, they won the Bo3 vs Bleed I know Bleed has had issues but the Elevate team looks so good and they have players who have been to majors before in Ape and SpeakEasy. Shed and Mcie have been in Eu t2 being on Gwho who beat G2 when it was their full SI winning team. So I see Elevate as a C-tier team and like PSG at the last major teams will discount them as some APAC team and get humbled.
It is possible I'm underrating them. I'm ready to be impressed, but that seems a bit tougher than for some of the other APAC teams because they're already in Phase 2.
@@bkggaming9086 I’d say the competition elevate faced wasn’t as strong as a lot of other teams in the tournament, the only super strong team they beat was bleed and with the exception of a single map (their choice) they struggled a lot on attacks vs bleed. They will struggle a lot on attack against the stronger teams, and even mid tier teams that play the defensive side well, their win percentage on attack vs bleed over 4 maps was 33%
Also CL4L will show they should be C tier above black dragon when they beat them in round 1 of phase one. CL4L beat wildcard and BC, both far better teams than black dragon lol. Also style wise CL4L will give black dragon nightmares, but besides that and what I said in my other comment a overall good rankings
I do hope CL4L proves me wrong. One thing to consider is that Brazil plays on LAN so that's a huge leg up for BD even if most of the players in the matchup will be playing their first match at a major.
This tierlist is actually pretty good, I would only put DPlus on C though, they did put up an amazing performance and right now toe to toe with Talon in terms of quality, but of course lack of international experience in a long time might halt them, so they atleast deserve C
New to the pro scene do many Australians get poached by a bigger international team often to possibly hold the oceanic teams back? I noticed there was 1 or 2 Australians in other teams in your team breakdown video cheers
No, not a lot. The only really notable instances of Australians going to play in other regions are Virtue going to G2 (and now Secret who are qualified for the major) and Jigsaw going to Fnatic. Jigsaw recently left Fnatic, went back to Australia, and qualified for the major with Chiefs.
I think elevate and falcons are the biggest wildcards and I think VP might should be higher if they make it out of Swiss into top 8 just because of how good of a best of 3 team they are and I think they have proved that over the years but we will see
Chiefs are another big wildcard for me. For VP, they have been having struggles for a while now, but they did qualify without LCQ and their last event was a stellar SI run, so they shouldn't be counted out.
(i’m late) there’s only 2 things i really disagree with here. 1) FearX should be in at least C tier: they eliminated G2 last major with their coach playing & now have their actual 5th JaKs who was arguably the best player on ENCE stage 1. 2) Black Dragons should be in D tier: they went 0-9 in the regular season which is on LAN, while LCQ playoffs are online, so i have zero faith in their LAN capabilities currently.
I could be underrating FearX but they did get eliminated themselves right after knocking G2 out of Manchester. Plus they really haven't had that many official matches with Jaks. But still, C tier could be reasonable. Black Dragons were pitiful during round robin, but just being one of the 4 teams to qualify from Brazil and eliminating Furia gets you a certain amount of credit.
black dragons showed they can play bo3s well in the LCQs which is what they will need, and icl the fury win over g2 was weird. they got 7-0d on one of the maps and it was pretty obvious on map 3 that g2 were throwing more than fearX was winning, feels hard to really believe
All the the S tier teams have had players playing for so long and the teams have had such long tenures I see a really big chance for an upset at this tourney. We already saw it in NA😗
I unfortunately feel NA will be near airport this event. Normally I say NA is one of the stronger regions going into majors. I feel this stage the competition at the top of NA has receded, whereas the competition at the top of Brazil and Europe has improved
Besides flopping in Manchester (which G2 did even harder), SSG has qualified for and put up reasonable results at every international event for a while, which is more than can be said for VP or G2.
G2 was literally the best non-brazilian team in the world for the entire year of 2023... and if you only talk about 2024 I'm pretty sure G2 qualified for everything and didn't immediately exit except last time.
unfortunately G2 has been poor up til this stage. 6th Eul league, bombed out of Manchester and failed to even qualify for EWC. the new roster rn has me hopeful tho
@@highgroundatz yeah but id still like to see them win a major again and if they would manage to win Montreal they would look really good for Finally lifting the hammer what an end for shaiikos revenge arc that would be all the way from banned to world champion.
I think you need to create another tier for wild cards, such as VP for example, they had poor perfomance for quite a while, but they always better on lan then online and maybe they are on their uprise again.
Not sure why people think that. Since picking up J9O, Forrest, and Callout, they've qualified for every major/SI plus EWC, and performed reasonably at all of them besides Manchester.
I think they're one of the most consistent NA teams. They don't have crazy talent (Benja pops off sometimes tho) but when I watch them, they seem to know how to play good and methodical siege. If they make it to top 4 I wouldn't be surprised.
I’m sorry, but if SQ are S tier, DZ need to also be S tier. I get they got 1 place lower, but that match was so goddamn close I genuinely don’t see how you couldn’t have them the same tier. If going 8-7 all 3 maps doesn’t say they are borderline equals. I don’t know what does. I also feel Faze after SI have been super underwhelming, They lost in Quarters at both the last event with basically all the players except Handyy being inconsistent, but I’m not opposed to them being S. Falcons should be bottom for me. I feel FearX and CAG could definitely do better than them
If I was purely basing SQ vs DZ based on NA league, then sure they're basically tied. But part of my assessment has to do with having Canadian is a big deal, and Kobelax still hasn't proven he can be a consistent force like the other 9 people on those 2 teams.
@@highgroundatz not to disagree but it is also his first stage, and even then he still had maps where he was just absolutely popping off on people. Even with him underperforming like that, they were still able to bring it so close, imagine once he gets used to the scene and is back in form. He would’ve had a lot more time to practice since then as well
I'm saying anything bad about him. But by excusing him for it being his first stage, you are admitting his performance needs an excuse. And with this being his first event, and it having more pressure and more stakes, there is more reason to believe he won't perform well compared to the other players. It's also possible that he plays lights out.
@@highgroundatz I’m…. Not excusing him? And that’s not admitting anything, because there’s nothing to admit, you’re acting as if I said Kobe is some star player who is gonna twerk on players internationally. I was making recognition that he had really great moments of shine even in his first stage. I feel there is a bit of bias towards DZ here. Both SQ and DZ showed drastic improvements over the stage, had their growing pains but ultimately showed they are on the borderline equals. In my honest opinion, I genuinely feel like if SQ get S tier (which I agree with) DZ should also get the same tier, right below them. I think they are both on track to make top 4 depending on the Stage 3 bracket, and even potential winners.
I am a big VP and BDS and scarz. I will be happy if any of those 3 win. Anyone else I will either be mad or don't care... But it's crazy how you put Space station and DZ above VP tho... And SQ like all 3 are not better than VP.
I think both liquid and w7m are 1 tier too high, most teams in the Brazil league didn’t look great besides those 3 and faze was by far the best and only team that should be S tier. Like how we putting liquid with faze when faze went 3-0 vs them maps wise without a single map even going to OT lol. Also secret being insanely underrated, yes they started slow but they finished insanely strong, they are 2-2 maps wise vs bds in stage 2 and were a single round away from taking the 1 seed and going 3-1 vs them. Also they are arguably the best team at using the current shield meta, which is why they gave bds fits. Secret should be 4th behind, BDS, Faze and soniqs
Some fair assessments. My ratings for Liquid and w7m are factoring in their solid recent event performances with Liquid making top 4 at Manchester and EWC, and w7m making the EWC grand final.
@@highgroundatz I get their recent success but I think it’s more fair to base it on the more recent play, for example last year BC won and before last year they literally had done nothing but second half of stage 2 last year they were really good. No matter how good Liquid is in BR6, when it comes to international events they choke. I´m a big fan of them, but i kind of accepted that. Nesk will never win a Major or SI, unfortunately.
For DZ I’m personally not worried about nafe igl’ing internationally. I’m confident he’ll be fine. Biggest thing is just for them to show up. If they show up and play like they’re expected to I could see them very easily winning the major.
I imagine they'll be good at the event, but they were always good with Canadian and fell short before making a final. If Nafe fills in for Canadian well enough and Kobelax floats, it could work out.
