This video is about air hole adapters. Those cables are used in combination with different in trigger systems. Those systems are used to convert acoustic into e-drums. Most people don’t want to drill holes in their drum shells to be able to reverse the conversion. We decided to show you some types of adapter cables.
We use different jack plugs such as this 3,5mm plug or this Neutrik jack plug as a fitting in the air hole.
This female 6,3mm jack is ideal if you don’t want to remove the metal inlay of the air hole. You can also take a piece of a 3,5mm headphone jack plug including cable. Microphone cable or single wire can be used too.
Our first adapter will have a small jack inside the shell. We need 3 pieces of single wire. We solder the cable onto the small jack plug and bent the clamps to secure the cables.
The most important step at this point before continuing is applying the jack cover and additionally some head shrinking tubes to bundle the cables.
At this stage we have to find out which cable is connected to each jack zone. We check the connection with a multimeter and mark the cables with a white pen.
Now we can solder them to the jack plug. The longest piece of the head shrinking tube will be applied and heated before closing the clamp. We use the lighter to shrink the bundle tubes too. Actually the right tool would be a hot air gun.
The second cable includes a jack plug and a piece of a mic cable. We desolate the tips, solder the cable to the jack plug and close the jack with the cover. Crimp sleeves will shell the cable ends. These cables can be screwed onto a terminal strip.
This cable fits perfectly through any air hole.
The 3 cables shown in this video are only examples. The jacks can be combined in many ways according to your needs.

Is there any connector like this that doesn't require soldering or such? At the moment I am using mini-tele cables to connect to my triggers inside the drums and then I run those cables through the ventholes since the connector on those cables are so small. And then I use a 1/4" - Mini-tele converter in the inputs on my module to connect the triggers to the module.
This works well, but if I would need to transport my drums somewhere I would either have to take off one of the heads on each drum to disconnect the cable from the trigger or transport my drums with the cables hanging on the outside through the ventholes. And that doesn't feel very durable for the cables.
