Thanks to those who took the time to video tape these shows back then! At the age of 44 I appreciate Finally getting to see Charged G.B.H live. Back then I missed them when they were in No. Cal. Although I got to go to many gigs then, it was a big deal to not see my top Hardcore band at the time-especially since they came all the way from UK! Engineer boots and Leather jacket were good for protection while thrashing if you didn't overheat!
I first saw them about 84 they were my fav english punk band, I was so psyched to see them they were Awesome, and then got to see them again 20 yrs later, they were still great---so glad I grew up in that time of punk and new wave I miss the 80's!
i missed this show, was probably skating around IV not realizing one of my fav bands was downtown playing with the Vandals and other killer bands. What a killer show. I heard just last week that some local bands are working with La Casa to reopen and do shows again....fingers crossed....
@daygloman - I was too; I remember Steve-o was so ripped he completely fucked up Anarchy Burger intro. But for 14 y/o me it was funny AF. Steve-o R.I.P.
@GagieBoi Yeah I went to all of the Santa Barbara shows back in the early and late 80's, La Casa, Goleta Community Ctr, west side Boys club, Oxnard LA Etc.. I still go to shows. I saw the Adolescents last night and they killed it!
i saw them in 86 or 87? at perkins/ca and the guitarist put glow in the dark on his Mohawk, and when he turned sideways the whole place freaked out. It was life changing to see these bands changing the times and creating them at the same time. I owe my survival today to my punk-rock days in the past. maihitpivotanu @facehook
hahaha i've talked to a few local friends that hung out with GBH that night...i'd love to hear your story too. heard about drinking on the roof, playing soccer, drinking, drinking and more drinking.
@SSEanBarr AMEN..COMON NOW,WUTchusay? ..I'm the same age..& arent we some lucky fucks to have been there? at THAT time-the shows I saw? DRI, Agnostic Front, Bad Brains, Samhain, Dead Kennedys, SNFU, Suicidal Tendencies-driving to Atlanta..or in Bham..or somebodys fucking back yard..Askin' Colin outside the Atlanta show, where to next? Pensacola? Ahite..let's go-so much fucking fun. YOU know what I'm saying! You and I? we fucking rock. (i love youtube too, cuz i can say shit like that, right?)
Great footage. Not enough bass though. MORE BASS! I ain't bustin yer balls . Those camcorders of the day just didn't capture the low end. And today's digital crap is even worse. This is prime live GBH!
SurfingOnBrainwaves Its not really dreads. Its supposed to be a kind of liberty spikes or something. But he doesnt always put a hair hold for that. Its good in any way.
Salt water will dry your hair out, making it more brittle and easier to knot up. Some hair boutiques will dread non-course and curly hair, but they'll over-process your hair with a perm. Then they'll tease it, hairspray it, re-tease (multiple times) and rubberband them at the ends until it knots up. *warning = atleast w/ the later method, you might look like Sideshow Bob (the Simpsons) for a couple of months.

My first punk show. Stalag 13? Breakouts? Love Canal? Original Stevo-era Vandals? GBH? Spring 1984? Not a bad place to start.
83 not 84. This is not the the the above show you mentioned.
Thier 1st time stateside was in 83..caught The Breakouts along w/ Italy's Raw Power in 85 ..Breakouts were tight as fuck punk rock.

Filming nicely done great capture of a time and the musical transition from cock rock to fresh raw music with personal intensity.

SurfingOnBrainwaves Its not really dreads. Its supposed to be a kind of liberty spikes or something. But he doesnt always put a hair hold for that. Its good in any way.
um....grow your hair long, use knox geletin and hair spray. the end. this was the standard formula in the 80s to put up your hawk or spikes...
