The Avenger competed into the mid-1980s and consequently, as the safety aspects of car rallying were revised in the aftermath of several deaths, a top-spec roll cage was produced to fit them. I may be mistaken; but, I am fairly sure that the 'roll cage' in this one pre-dates that time and provides very limited protection in the event of a serious accident.
