The original live-action Mario was Captain Lou Albano.
For me, this movie holds a special place in my heart...❤ Growing up me and my mother and father always played the Mario games together throughout the years...🕹 And one night for no particular reason my mom took me to go see this movie...🎟 At the time I was just 6 years old...🙂 I remember loving the movie...👌🏼 And my mother also bought me all of the action figures as well...👍🏼 One day I took both my Mario and Luigi figures to school for show and tell and I gave the Mario figure to my good friend Alan...and when school got out that day my mom asked me where my toys were that I took and I told her that I gave Mario to my friend, she got mad at me and threatened that she was never gonna buy me another toy again...😧 I was scared and sad, and I thought that I had messed up my life for good...🙁...because I believed what my mom said...💯✔ But it was ok, because she was just mad in the moment, and she bought me lots of more toys after that...🤗 But after that incident, I never gave another toy to anybody else ever again...😬
I know it's a horrible movie. I know I don't have the best tastes all the time. But I am so glad someone else can relate when I say I actually like this movie. :)
Back in the day, I traded my MTV-7 mini rig to a friend for his ISP-6. I was happy. He was happy. All was good. Until his mother found out, and demanded I give his toy back. I got in trouble, not for not giving it back. But for telling my mother not to blame me, because he was an idiot who traded a good toy for a stinker. lol But, in the end. I lost out, because even though I gave the ISP back. He never gave me back that stupid MTV because he ended up moving out of town. Bah.
For me, it holds a special place in my butt.
They filmed Super Mario Bros over in Wilmington, NC,and Buena Vista was a company owned by Disney that they use when they don't feel it fits the Disney mold. It was named after a lake near Disney World called Buena Vista.
Hey Junkman. If you decide to do more history videos of non Star Wars figures, please do some on Barnyard Commandos and/or Food Fighters. Oh, and if you're gonna review more 80s TV shows, how about Air Wolf & Streethawk?
"Those Goombas are scary."
Kid, I don't know what movie you were watching but the Goombas weren't scary
Man, those villains would be awesome as 3 3/4 figures. I could send them after Han Solo, lol.
Your "Warning" and intro are too long. I like your old "Yoda's Swamp" Intro. It was much faster.
i loved this toyline. lol. i still have them in my collection. even have the Devo chamber and the police car.
I used to have these. And in 1993 I had epic games of action figures where Super Mario met Jurassic Park. Bob Hoskins Super Mario beat all the dinosaurs and had sexy times with my Ellie Sattler action figure. I think he banged my Poison Ivy figure from Batman Animated series too...
Those were sensible playsets.
7:17 hey that's my pic, and my parents kitchen counter! :D Still love these toys and the movie which dared to take chances and think outside the box. There were plenty of other Mario interpretations we got that gave us the stuff we expected. The cartoons and Super Mario Super Show and of course just play the games. The movie had the challenge of making flesh and blood real world characters out of what was essentially an emotionless set of pixels controlled by the player that runs to the right.
In this movie, it is the events of the film that inspire the video game ultimately making this an origin story of how they became Super and you could say the games don't follow the movie :P Or were adapted to make a fun video game.
For all it's problems, this movie was a gritty reimagining before gritty reimaginings were a thing. No one was ready for a Mario movie not about a fat guy jumping on turtles for two hours.
Love all the Junkman videos!
I think I still have some trading cards in an album somewhere from that later movie.
Junkman!
Minty comedic arts channel did a 10 things you didnt know about SMB video. It explains some of the reasons the movie sucked so bad. It was actually better than the movie was. LOL
I had a friend who bought many of those. He soon regretted it
I would have killed for that Mario police car. It's like the GI Joe dreadnought vehicle on steroids.
A John Laqusauma figure would be a fun thing to have. But as for the movie, well it was a movie great for Stoner night?
This is way worse than all the failed action figure competition set you did some time back.
I remember watching _The Super Mario brothers_ TV show on TCC at my grandparents in the mid 80's. But I cant remember if it was dubbed into swedish, or if there were two versions.
I do recall one in english, and one in swedish with extrem poorly exicuted "lip sync" (I doubt that the original voice was even 100% muted)
Ed: Btw, did you know these toys are the work of the Devil?! I saw a show where two men (one with a perm and a 'fjunig porr-mustasch' and the other had a 'kristen-frilla'*) sitting in a living room talking about all kind of evil toys, and their arguments were very convincing.
*SpArSe(?) P0rN mustache and A Chr1stAn hair dres.
I only saw this movie in the last year or two. I like it. Kind of.
The summer of 1993. I didn't watch it or buy the figures. I was turning 13 in 1993 and I felt I was too old for it. The previews made it look stupid. Mad and Cracked magazine did their bits on them. I remember seeing the figures in the stores. I was still looking but not buying. A friend that was a year younger than me watched it and he told me it was stupid. I guess I was right about it looking dumb in the previews. Although I'm sure if I was 7 in 1993 I would probably be loaded with nostalgia over it.
I may go to hell for this, but I like the Super Mario Brothers movie.
I don't get it! Why would they change most of the source material in such drastic ways?!
i found a luigi figure at the thrift store like 2 weeks ago in a bag with a set of rgb figures.
I love the movie. It’s a lot of goofy fun, which is all you can really ask for for kids. I also had most of the figures in this line, and I remember them being rather hard to find. Always sold out everywhere.
You missed the Devo Gun in your toy line overview, as well. They made a small role playing Devo Gun (basically a mini Super Scope for the SNES) that had a bunch of generic sound effects in it. Nothing special, just the basic Chinese toy gun sounds they still use to this day. Kind of neat all the same, though.
Another amazing video! Never did see this crap movie, so really enjoyed the whole break down! 💪🏻
I remember the movie coming out and seeing the toys in stores. Didn't actually see the movie until years later on TV. Not exactly Oscar material!
How you don't have more subscribers is beyond me.
Same here ;)
in the thumbnail.it looks like a ron jeremy action figure.mushroom man.lol
I love these videos about super shit toy-lines, even though I never owned any of these ones and I've still never seen the Mario movie. Tbh I still have no urge to watch it. Keep the vids coming J-Man, I love 'em all.
I legitimately LOVE the movie.
Luigi Mario yOu GOt a ProBleM wItH tHaT
Me: *yes*
Saw the movie in the theater and absolutely hated it!! Never knew they made toys for it. I think it is awesomely bad to watch today.
The only good thing about this film was the song on it by Roxette 👌🏻
Luckily you make these videos of low junk not low flesh!
I remember buying this movie used on VHS from Kroger for like 6 hicks , when they decided to sell off and close their video rental section.
super mario brotherTs.lol.like people who say COUSINTS.i always called it mario 1.
weird game.Ron Jeremy jumping around eatin mushrooms and firing off fireballs.
Well, maybe the movie isn't that good, but Mario will be always our classic character, the legend of video games. And I really gotta say that i'm just 12 years old, and the first thing i ever learnd to write with a keyboard was "Jocuri cu Mario" and that means "Games with Mario" in Romanian cuz I'm 🇷🇴. And what I meant to say is that Mario will always be our deffinition for *OLD SCHOOL VIDEO GAMES* and I thank Nintendo for making my childhood a very happy one.
Peace✌
Yes, it's absolutely bad as they say, and worse.
I’ll be honest, as bad as the movie was, I kind of want these toys
I saw the movie in theatres in 1993. My friends and i said what just happened
This movie is like Zelda CD-I. I think the ones responsible for this should be shown the 'Game Over' screen for 2hours. If they go mad they get the ticket fee for free👍
Nice kitschy finds!
But "Devo chamber"?! What does it do, pipe the entire albums of "Shout", "Oh No It's Devo" and "Smooth Noodle Maps", all in glorious stereo, to the person strapped in a chair? Okay, I liked those albums but that's not important.
That movie also really needed to be blended animation (too early for CGI) like Roger Rabbit and have characters looking like their game counterparts and not as humans on Earth...
Thate was a toy linr never knew
If memory serves correct, I think this came out about the same time as the Jean-Claude Van Damme Street Fighter movie. They both looked terrible in the trailers and I never saw either of them even to this day. The only good video game movie adaptation from this time period was New Line’s Mortal Kombat. But only the first one. It’s sequel was terrible!
Cool vid as always. Wow this was an oy movie. Still ok looking toys. Not great but, ok. Kind of looks like the ECW toys. When that Wrestling promotion had a toy line.
Never saw the movie. Just don't care.
Never watched the movie, don't remember the figures. Did love Super Mario Cart. What were they thinking? "Lets take a super popular video game everyone loves and make a live movie and toys about it but change everything completely!" How do these kind of people get jobs and keep them?
SMB was one of the biggest clustersucks ever made.
One of the best*
The movie wasn’t that bad.
I didn't mind the film as a kid kinda liked it my friend from school at the time loved it he really liked that end song as well think it's Roxette wasn't it left open for a sequel as well like that was going to happen I tried to watch it recently five may be ten minutes I turned it of terrible
I've never seen this movie, but I really like that police car. Looks like something from GI JOE. I think a Mario and Luigi movie figure would look good on a entertainment center by the Nintendo.
