Hey Vanessa. Thanks for so much information! I got married to a Ghanaian in Oct 2019 and I am now an honorary Ghanaian (in addition to being UK born of Dominican parentage 🇩🇲🇬🇭). I am planning my first trip to Ghana in December and, thanks to you and Wode Maya, we want to leave London and relocate to Ghana in the next 5 years. (I hope we can make contact with the lady you interviewed with the house made of reeves - we loved that house!!) I am taking it all in and can't wait to touch the land. In the meantime, I am living vicariously through your adventures! Well done for making the move. Keep the videos coming. Thanks again
@@ayodeler39 Hi. I have lived in East London for the last 23 years but I have spent quite a bit of time in South. My Husband's family live in Balham so maybe that's why the name is familiar?
Lemongrass *oil* repels insects. Without the lemongrass leaves being crushed for its oil, it actually doesn’t repel insects by simply being planted. Thought I’d chip in on that point.

Great deciion Vanessa for not exposing your children to social media now. And quickly, about educational standard in Ghana, you can be rest assured your kids will do great things and will attain the very best standard. Ghana's education is probably the very best in Africa.
@@Afrikaislife so true, do not let everyone in your country, some have the mindset of the Europeans which is to sell you out so that their masters con takeover your country again.
I worked in Ghana for 2 odd years and my preventive measures against malaria for the whole family was to mix 100 ml of veg oil to one hundred drops of either aromatherapy oils, eg eucalyptus or lavender oils. Try to buy brown coloured 100 ml sized bottles to store the mixture and to convey in your bags preferably inside a plastic bag to protect against spillages. Immediately after showering in the morning dab your body with a towel gently to keep your body moist to absorb the oil seamlessly. Dab your said oil mixture into your hands and rub them together. Rub whatever part of your body u wish to be protected against malarial bites but be careful so u don't spoil your clothes. Dont use much oil just enough to protect your skin against bites Its best to allow the oil to dry before dressing. If you don't want to risk transferring the oil onto your clothes best to dress first before applying the oil to your face/ear/neck and arms/legs/hands. Apply a little oil to your hair also to fend off all toxic insects. The secret is the scent of the aromatherapy oils that stops the mosquitos from getting too close etc. Apply the aromatherapy oil as and when you feel you need some protection throughout the day especially when outside regardless of the time of day. At nights apply more frequently depending on your surroundings/mood. Good luck as this concoction worked excellently for me and family. We were protected throughout our stay.
Yes you can use oil oil with essential oils for your skin but as a preventive against malarial bites best to use vegetable oils. The scent of olive oil can interfere with the scent of the essential oils. Coconut oil also has a strong smell so can mask the effectiveness of some essential oils against mosquito bites so I would advise using mostly vegetable oils as they all have a neutral scent. You can mix organic coconut oil with a few drops of your skin by rubbing a litte a few drops interfere with the scent
Eileen profuse apologises for my earlier response which was accidentally released prematurely. So the last part of my reply, which I decided to revise should have read: mix some organic coconut oil with a few drops of essentials oils and rub on to your skin to keep it supple. NB:,pregnant women should always check with their doctors prior to using certain essential oils so please be careful. If unsure about the uses of certain essential oils the Internet is a great place. Holland and Barretts is a great retailer in the uk to contact.
God bless you my daughter. May you, your husband and children have a great and blessed life. My wife and myself watch your videos. We enjoy your beautiful heart coming through your show. Again God bless you.
Great Vanessa. Happy to hear you and the family are pretty much coping in the Motherland. Wishing you all the best of everything in Ghana. The best is yet to come. Stay blessed.
Thanks for this video Vanessa! I am glad you made it clear about education - I know there are many great schools in Accra, which even rival western schools :)
This is so refreshing. The information is informative. I like to get different perspective on living in Ghana from different people who have moved there. Your viewpoints will make it easy for a person to move and transition to living a Ghanian lifestyle. I will be visiting in November. I hope to link up with you.
The bit that made me laugh was right at the end about your clothes drying. Probably because when I travelled to Nigeria, I had the same reaction to how quicky they dried, spreading them out in the sun. In the UK, you need the hand of god to have them dry that quickly outside😂.
I found this video refreshingly candid and helpful. I plan to make the move to Ghana within the next couple of years and this video will help get buy-in on the prospect from my support network.
May your ancestors open the right way for you, that all your wishes come true, because I think you and Ghana are a good copple and btw ignore negative people,I will always join the channel and also helps with more subscribers that you dream for you and family come true, Good luck and all the best in your journey🙏
People really underrate the educational system in Africa 🤦🏾♂️! I have never been to Europe or America and some of the questions people ask about Africa really tells me Africa doesn’t have a good story in the western world. Quite unfortunate!
Love this video, answered most of my questions! You look so happy being there!! Planning on moving over from the UK so looking forward to visiting once we are able to travel! Would very much interested to hear how you get on with getting the right health insurance as planning on doing just that! Also looking forward to seeing video on your Ghana made furniture as thinking of buying furniture there rather than shipping but I’ve heard so much negative things!
Hi Phyllis how are you. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪 to England 🏴. Hope you’re safe from Covid. It’s a good video. Wish you a lovely week 🌹👍😊 Michael
When i was living in Ghana 2009-2011 I took daily doxycycline and slept with a mosquito net. I got malaria after about 1.5 years. I took some medication once I got it and it only lasted for 1-2 days. I got pretty weak (instantly) and had a huge headache and stomach issues. I was sweating and felt cold. After 2 days though I was pretty good though. Only malaria once in 2 years. Not bad!
Vanessa, Vanessa, Vanessa, you have no idea how happy I am for you. I love the commitment to your kids and Ghana. Congratulations and well done 👍🏿👍🏿👋🏿👋🏿. You are going to have a good life in Ghana. Enjoy it.
Greetings Vanessa Kanbi, I am so happy for you and the family . Your husband seems be caring, wonderful and very understanding, that’s what is needed in the world today between cultures as all of us are family. I purchased the Rosetta Stone as recommended Vanessa. Thanks for sharing.

I loved this video! You answered so many of my questions and that letter from your son had me tearing up!! My follow up question would be more in-depth about healthcare in Ghana. My partner and I are planning to move to Ghana and once we start a family, I really want my mom to come and live with us. However, my mom has some pretty serious health issues like auto immune disorders etc. If we can pay for the healthcare--can I be confident that my mom could get the care she needs in terms of medication and emergency care?
I would research what her specific condition is and see if there is specialists here. I did a video on one hospital called lucca health but there are others such as nyaho / or contact the health insurance companies like nationwide or one of the others x
To be honest, its so weird seeing people be so malaria conscious. Personally I don't like mosquitoes not because I'm afraid of malaria, but because they disturb u so much that its difficult sleeping with them constantly buzzing in your ears and biting u.
I wouldn't want to go back to the cold and snow. People ask such ignorant questions still in 2021. They think traffic is gridlocked with everyone riding elephants or something?
