  • In this DIY build video, I modify my Trasharoo straps to to attach to the bedrail of my 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma. This is not for someone who wants to drive around with the Trasharoo hanging off their truck, but this is a clean and solid way to use the the trash system while at camp. I hope this video helps you customize your camp kitchen and inspires you to try your own build ideas. Thanks for watching and stay safe out there. TbT

    Clean and simple idea. I am going to do something similar, but hang it off the back.

    This is a really great innovation for how to use the trasharoo. I absolutely love our trasharoo but can’t figure out how to install it on the back of a minivan!

    Very nice I want to do something similar but on the tailgate

      Cool. I use my tailgate for my kitchen counter and want the trash off to the side at camp. Also wanted it to not hang on the ground when the TG is open. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope your design turns out well. Good luck. TbT

      that's kinda what i was thinking also. maybe add some tie down loops and add spring clips to the top straps of the trasharoo. that way, it can be removed and you have extra tie down locations along the tailgate.

    I like it! I’m thinking of getting two for my setup. One for trash and one for recycling. But i also don’t have a spare tire holder.

      Thanks. I like this location because it's close to my kitchen and keeps the bugs away-ish from the tailgate food prep area. As far as the recycling goes, we put the recycling -beer cans mostly - in the Trasharoo, but outside the trash bag insert we use. Basically all the food and trash goes into the heavy duty plastic liner trash bag in the Trasharoo, but we slip the cans in between the plastic trash bag and Trasharoo. That way when we get home the recycling is easily sorted and we just hose out the Trasharoo and hang dry. That may save you a few bucks and some space. Thanks for watching and commenting. Stay safe out there, TbT.

    Use a heated nail (or similar) to make the holes through the nylon strapping.

    I was thinking of replacing the buckles with the type of cleats that come on strap on bike racks to go on the back of my GX.

    Why not secure it on the tailgate with original traps?

    • @TravelingbyTacoma
      @TravelingbyTacoma  3 роки тому

      Mostly because I use my whole tailgate for my camp kitchen and didn’t want straps running over that. Also this keeps it up off the ground when the tailgate is open and bugs (mostly bees) a little bit away from the kitchen area. This spot works best for me, but yeah for sure the typical tailgate location is good too. Thanks for watching and commenting. Stay safe out there. TbT

      Thank you! Makes sense! The just got one and am figuring out where to carry it!

    • @TravelingbyTacoma
      @TravelingbyTacoma  3 роки тому +2

      Yeah. It’s definitely a good spot when the tailgate is closed, but when it’s open it doesn’t hang right and is kinda in the way. We tend to camp in the same spot so once it’s set up it’s all good. I wouldn’t want to hang it off the TG full of fire wood either. Pretty heavy. Good luck.
