@@raildoestravel I wanted to see these at Loftus but apparently, they need a lot of work before we can ride them, again. I missed these as we mostly did driving when they were on due to my wife's disability and especially in town
This is an excellent presentation and your informative voice over is exceptional. This was well worth waiting for and you should be proud of this presentation. Well done Elliot 👍 👏
The new trams are still Urbos 3’s. The 100 which gets bandied around means it is 100% low floor. So they are Urbos3 100’s. Which is what the old ones were too. There are some differences between the first and second batch of course but these would have been Transport NSW’s choice.
This is such an amazing video Elliot. Your videos are getting better every time I hope you have a very merry Christmas!! I look forward to your videos in 2024. Good job 👍 👏
Good video, I would say the layout and the design looked exactly the same to the urbos 3, but the display looks exactly the same as citadis x05, when I got on the x05 operating the L1 around a month or two ago, its saying refer to the stop pattern... idk why... The announcements are everywhere on Sydney's public transport, such as Sydney trains and ferries, I don't know who that person is until Phil pointed out it was taylor owynns on his video featuring urbos 100. Which legit caught me by surprise. I've been traveling along this line since I was a little kid, at that time it was operating to lilyfield before extension to dulwich hill in 2014. Thanks for putting the images of the urbos 2 and variotram back up, brings me back memories for real. With the variotrams, I remember they came with the destination rolls, and also the PA announcements came from the driver, I think it was when the route extended to dulwich hill, they have fitted with dot matrix destos and digital announcers. The vario retired in 2015, not 2014. FYI I didn't get on the vario on their last day of service. I remember when there were cracks on urbos 3, the service got suspended until they made a solution to get x05 as backup, whenever I go to the city these days, I always see mix of urbos 3 and x05. Anyways have a merry xmas and a happy new year, may 2024 be a good year for everyone :)
The new trams look way better than the Urbos 3! The only thing I want is that the handle on the ceiling has a triangle looking or a plastic handle so that looks better for me. I think it could be better also if the door side had whole LCD display on all sides of the tram and one showing the whole line of L1 and when the tram comes into a stop, showing where the doors open
You don't tell us why you miss the Variotrams apart from something you liked about rhe way the doors worked, without being explicit. They were technically interesting, having direct-drive motors in the wheels themselves but really uncomfortable to ride in due the high unsprung weight and minimal suspension.
The reason I didn’t mention why I missed them is because I’d go on for hours. This video is focusing on the Urbos 100s and I thought it’d be a little confusing if I did a 10-20 minute segment on a tram that this video isn’t even focused on. If you’d like me to do a video on the Vario’s feel free to request it.
@@tsetstransport Thanks. All I saw before I watched i the video was a thumbnail of Gladys with horns which led me to think this was something you were going to focus on. No need to cover the varios on my behalf. The in-wheel hub motor thing was innovative in Chemnitz in the early 90s but the associated poor ride and traction control were always weaknesses.
bring back the varios gladys

Weren’t they ageing though?
@@TheRealMillenniumMelbourne still uses Z class trams from the 70s
@@hazptmedia well Sydney (being stupid as it is) wants to look modern
ummm hate to break it to you but all of them except 2107 are scrapped
also 2107 is now unused, and these trams deteriorate when in storage
They look fab. Like a red london bus
Cool video
How was the plane ride
Very tram like 👍

bruh the "gladys the vario killer" comment made me cry
the only one left is 2107
they never cracked under pressure

Do we have to put up with Lulu? She's driving me crazy and She's everywhere!
I wouldn't be surprised if the announcements were secretly code to make us go insane? The government is freaking me out!! 😨
Variotrams were Withdrawn in Late May of 2015

I'm not a fan of the font on the displays, I hope they change it to match the Citadis and those on trains

could they at least chagne the body design and not steal it from the urbos 3
