The killing was really happened and the killers were let after few years . The killers were killed when got released from jail. If you want to know about the original incident please search about keezhvenmani padu kolai.
This movie is based on a true story happened in 80's, about a particular Community known as "Devendirakula Vellalars" in Southern India, who were once oppressed by another clans during different monarchies, even in today's democracy too, but later now they started to fight against them. That is the outburst of his anger because of communal oppresion. The protagonist's real name is Sivasami Kudumbar from Kovilpatti

@@ArunShankartheRealOne I know that happened in Keezhvenmani I've read Meena Kandasamy's book on that massacre, That's why I'm saying. In Keezhvenmani the workers battled for wages that is why they were killed, there was a long history of protest and discrimination before that. Not like how they show in Asuran. Just because Vetrimaaran kept two or three similar frames/dialogues it doesn't mean it is about the massacre. While making movies on such sensitive & traumatic scenes we need to capture the full truth of it, not sprinkling whatever suits you for drama.
