I seriously began having a claustrophobia attack watching you in the turtle. That has never happened before except when I was getting an MRI scan done.
Most of the comments here are correct. The flamingo's and the lemur's cages are both larger than the tiger's, the bear's or the monkey's cages respectively. I work with wild animals, particularly elephants, with various NGOs and can say that certainly riding them is harmful, especially where they're made to perform. Also I know at least that the tiger pacing is definitely a sign of mental stress. It's similar to the habit of polar bears (another animal I work for specifically,) who pace in short bursts back & forth when stressed out.
That poor Tiger, could they possibly make It's cage any smaller? It's pacing around so pissed off just for our amusement....keep making vids Jacob and this comment is not derogatory against you, as you clearly are an animal lover too it just annoys me.
shootrmgavin I live near and this zoo was cited a bunch a few years ago. I thought they shut it down and just had safari park. Makes no sense the tigers and bears are in such small enclosures but other animals in large open areas and that monkey had nothing but a cement floor No swinging things. I won’t go there. But would love him to do a meet up at the dinosaur adventure.
Hi Braves Nation, I appreciate your comment. I have no doubt it could, it's an Alpha predator. That wasn't my argument. My issue is that it is kept in an extremely small enclosure.
Great to hear Braves, I'm just all for conservation and protection of all animals. Tigers are genetically designed to run and hunt and this one cannot do these things and it just makes me sad to see that. I hope you have a great weekend Braves
'I don't want to be known as the fat guy who got stuck in a kangaroo.' *lol*...If I had seen that, that would have been exactly my thought - 'Oooooh, that is cool, I wanna go in there and take a picture, but...I don't want to be known as the fat woman who got stuck in a kangaroo!' :) Kudos for climbing into the turtle. I'd have ended up stuck in that one as well!
Jacob you should never ride the elephants. It is cruel and the way they get treated in training breaks their spirit. So glad that the keeper was not there!! Love the elephants by looking not riding!! 🐘🐘🐘🐘
Wow the birds were beautiful and loved the goats . I just find it sad that large animals like the tiger are kept in small areas. I must say they did look healthy . Hope the bigger animals get more space when they are not on view. Keep Safe ❤Keep Well ❤
Private zoos should not be allowed although this one looks decent. However, aside from the parakeet housing and maybe the coats, the cats and alligator had inadequate living quarters as did the two bears. They should not have an elephant and doubly not give rides on it.
Carpetbagger, I am NOT addressing this to you, personally, please know this. BUT, WHY oh WHY are places like this allowed to exist??? Those conditions are HORRIBLE. The pacing of the white tiger broke my heart.... he or she is bored, and anxious, that is why the pacing. NO room to play, no grass to roll in. It makes me sick that places like this are allowed!!!!
That scary bird is a Castalwarry (spelling?) I remember seeing them on the Crocodile Hunter. They have a switchblade claw that can split a full grown human open so yeah, I would not want to run into one that wasn't confined.😓 My niece is jealous that you got to feed a Giraffe, the last few times she went to the Detroit zoo and stood in line to buy tickets to feed the Giraffes they always wind up selling out before she gets to the front. It's quite popular and that is her favorite animal.
I believe I have told you before that my husband has a safari hat just like yours Jacob and he had his on today also . You wore your hat at the perfect place in the vlog . I loved the Zoo . My daughter and I was just talking about take my grandchildren to the Atlanta Zoo . I know at our Library here in our home town will give a free pass to children after they go to one of they're story time days . My grandson would be free because of him being understand a certain age , but yeah we really want to go to the Zoo this summer with the kids . Thanks for sharing this vlog Jacob ! I'll have to let my grandchildren watch it too . They'll love it !!
That "turtle simulator" looked like fun... As far as zoos, the only part of this that I felt uncomfortable about was the white tiger, the way it was pacing in its cage; no sign that there was any deliberate cruelty but the way she was pacing suggested she wasn't happy being cooped up... 😕
Hi Jacob, Firstly I would like to congratulate you on your great Vlogs there is always something interesting and new to look forward too and I enjoy sitting down with a nice cuppa and a cookie and watching your Vlogs . .I especially like when you team up with other UA-camrs like Adam the Woo who is how I found your channel in the first place both your easy going laid back style works excellent together This zoo unfortunately doesn't look very comfortable for its animals in tneir exhibits . It may be clean and the animals in decent physical health but mentally being trapped in those small wire enclosure together .Especially when bears are mainly solitary animals in the wild of course they will fight because they can't get away from each other and they are bored alao . Anyway that doesn't change my opinion of your channel which I love and will be looking forward to seeing more of your Vloga in the near future . Peace and best wishes ..
Personally I don't agree with any zoos, or anywhere they lock up wild animals, but as long as they do and can legally exist I found this one to be rather well kept and the animals looked healthy physically. Great video as always , love seeing you have fun with animals. Liked how the giraffe ripped you off there lol!
Judy Osborne I can’t speak for this zoo but accredited zoos do wonders for conservation efforts, especially in preserving endangered species. They also home injured animals who can’t return to the wild safely.
I'm surprised the big animals just had regular chain link fence around their inclosure, especially the big bears! I hope there's something for the monkey to climb on in there too
Yup. I wanted to make a birdbrain joke re his "Birds on My Head" title, but didn't want to appear mean-spirited, so let it go. Is a BirdMan, on the other hand, is worth 2 in the bush? Yuk-yuk. Sorry, couldn't help it. I meant to say your "Bird Man" brought to mind a weird cartoon, complete w/silly song I still can't get out of my head, that I used to watch as a kid. Cheers!
Dark legends97 Then lets put the small family in one of those cages and see how long they last before going insane from boredom and lack of anything to play with, or grass to roll in. Oh, and charge money so people can come a gape at them.
dropped , I didn't see one animal that looked like it was starved , neglected , riving in pain , depressed or trying to escape . those animals look perfectly content to me and that's all I have to say about that , I hope you have a good evening
I say this with no malice, but you clearly don't have a clue about animals or how they behave. "Trying to escape"? They're not in a cartoon. Actual real animals don't behave like that. If you're happier not understanding how much these animals are suffering, then enjoy your shoddy zoos and the cruelty they promote. But if you actually care about animals and their well-being, do even a small amount of research into the facts and perhaps make the world a slightly better place. Elephants are family orientated. They should not be on their own. And all of the animals in that zoo are meant for large, expansive habitats. None of which include cement floors and chain link fences. I guarantee you, none of them are having "good" evenings. And just because they don't have the ability to say so, we shouldn't ignore that.
dropped , you are the one that is Personifying animal's , personally I don't think animals have a concept of Place or Time , I think animals care if their bellies are full and care about the other common creature comforts like being warm and dry . Like I wrote in my first reply back to you , to me it looks like those animals in that zoo are being taken care of properly , but Ok , you are smarter then me , you win in all of your brilliance , I surrender , so let's just DROP IT , have a good day . Personification , look it up
I know what personification means, no need to look it up. But as it is a word with two distinct meanings, perhaps anthropomorphism would have been a less ambiguous term for what you were trying to get at. I never suggested I was smarter than you. But as I can tell when to use "than" instead of "then"... maybe you have a point. I make no claims to brilliance, I just don't like seeing animals suffer. You don't care. Good for you. Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it isn't real. Animals are obviously more complex than you realise. The smallest amount of education could change that and you'd be a better person for it. But consider the subject dropped. There's a parable about horses and water that would be lost on you.
Is the treatment of their animals any better than it was 5 years ago? The videos I saw on how they were mistreating the animals was horrifying. Extreme animal cruelty. The videos are on UA-cam, please watch and if anyone has any information on the current status of the zoo please post update.
