    2:21 You cannot export as both 4k and 1080x1920 resolution. 4k is just short for 3840x2160 (or 4096x2160 depending on whether it's UHD 4k or DCI 4k). 1080x1920 is the correct resolution for reels, not 4k.

    I think it's important to note if you are managing multiple IG accounts, changing settings in one account, changes the settings in all the accounts.

    Like stickers, adding music will also reduce quality. Since instagram rerender your video with the music.

    Video editor here 👋🏼 this is not to criticise the advice in this video, the tips are great! But there’s something confusing about those recommended export settings:
    You said export in 4K, but the dimensions should be 1080x1920. However 1080x1920 is HD quality, not 4K.
    4K dimensions for a vertical video would be 2160x3840.
    I do think I know what you meant though. Perhaps instead of saying dimensions should be 1080x1920, you were referring to the vertical aspect ratio?

      I wonder if instagram treats 4k video in a better quality way?
      Exporting 4k but targeting same bitrate, it may still look bad. Depens on the app i think.

      @@LaterMedia Thanks for the clarification Later team, however to say that the vertical aspect ratio should be 1080x1920 is still incorrect if what you want is a 4K video. Instead, a vertical aspect ratio would be described as 9:16 (as opposed to 16:9 for landscape).
      Numbers such as 1080x1920 when written like that describe the number of pixels - i.e. video quality/resolution, not aspect ratio.
      It would be best to revise your video to say: 4k quality, mp4, h.264, 9:16 (vertical) aspect ratio. Hope that helps.

      @@esatd34 Lots of varying advice out there. Some say export 4k so that when compressed it still looks good. However when looking under the comments of some of the SHARPEST reels I've ever seen, the creators said they export in 1080p instead because IG compresses it less. If you upload a high bit rate 4k file on to social media, I'm pretty sure it's gonna get crushed like crazy. I experience this with stories when I record videos on my iPhone in 4K then upload them.

    I was already using the export settings you recommended and had high-quality uploads on but my 1080p videos upload as 720p. I am on an Android but I think higher quality uploads is possible on iOS, having downloaded 1080p reels from creators who use iOS. But it seems even among iOS users, there is no way to guarantee 1080p.

    Thanks for the tips! How about adding text on Instagram? Is it better to add text in the video editing app or in IG just before posting to increase reach without affecting video quality?

    There are multiple “account” tabs after settings.. maybe a new update 🤷🏼‍♀️.. looks like it’s now under “media quality”. This is just a guess on my part.

    What about when uploading Reels using Later's scheduling tool? Will turning on the high-quality upload setting in Instagram make a difference if the video is scheduled via Later? Is there a way to make sure it uploads in high-quality when scheduling on Later?

    I shot a 4k 30fps prores video on my 14 pro max and the vid is 1 min n 33 seconds long and is 7.1gb! But when I upload it on Instagram, the quality looks so bad

    I use cap cut and those settings too as you mentioned but the video always gets exported pixelated, even though the original quality of the photos and videos are really high. Is it because I use free version?

    I love using the beat of the trending songs for transioning from clip to clip.. if I use an outside app, how can I upload the song so I know I am editing "on beat"? Thanks.

    I have turned on the upload at high quality toggle and even shoot videos at the settings you recommended but my reels never upload at high quality what do I do???

      Hey there- great question! We used Capcut for the video export settings, we've never used VN so we can't recommend -- but there's a lot of other helpful youtube videos about VN export settings out there. We hope that helps!

    Hi! Im a beginner haha so I have a weird question 😂 is there a way to get selfie videos in high quality? I have my iphone camera settings on max and when I upload them there always seems to be some sort of blur/grain on them! Pls helppp

      Hi Laiba, if you are using two different phones we recommend checking to ensure the apps are updated.     I like to shoot 4k 60fps but i cant upload the same if i try to change to 30 fps i see the frames...any solution?

You can select what formats you would like to export your video in. This will help with your quality of videos on Instagram.

    Hey ! I have recently bought android (s22Ultra) and I don't have the option there but, on my other private account I have got it and also I created a new account just to see if I have it there and yes! The only option I have is the "data saver " on and you can select "high resolution media " WiFi, mobile data or both so I selected both...Other accounts have this option and also the option for hight quality media...When I logged on to my partners phone, I had it there...My reels are poor quality compared to posting on my other accounts which have that option...What do I do without the option in order to upload a high quality media?
