Carman is such a true lyricist. Together with Diz...a fusion of art and genius. She remained my favorite female jazz singer. And Diz? No words to describe but exceptional. I fell in love with Black jazz singers Carman and Sass at onl y 13 years old. Filled with a house of classical and opera, my Dad sang. These jazz musicians and singers got me through a lot of rough times in my life, including my young sons suicide in 99. I loved them with all my being.
I met Dizzy and John Collins in Paris 1988 in a Parisian Jazz Club, these man are so cool. Dizzy was cute and funny John more the distinguished quiet type, all the energy was there.
@@Crus072 No, I agree with you some things could be happening because of Dizz, BUT what exactly ? Could it be that Dizzy did not cooperate well with Carmen and she tried to tell him something?
Given the improvisational jam feeling that was going on throughout the performance, Dizzy must have decided to spontaneously join in on the song -- but quickly realized from Carmen's surprised reaction that maybe it was not appropriate. He immediately stopped. No one seemed angry or upset. That's live performances: imperfect, fabulous, and alive. ❤

Dizzy and Carmen have been friends since the 1950s
