@Afrikleo I like the idea and concept of the "drone car" avoiding traffic jams with just taking off. My second favorite is the bamboo drone. But all of them are unique and were made with a lot of creativity.
The drone operated by a tv remote, imagine what fun it would be when someone else changes channel. Great to see so much improvisation from people with so little.
This is really awesome for the little materials they have they are able to go beyond imagination to make such a creative concepts I love what they doing
My deep respect for creativity and improvisation skills regarding the choice of materials which were available. There are some really impressing homemade drone in this video! Going unusual ways brings you as well to reaching the goal: To make these drones fly. Great!
So here's an excellent example. These are not slick and streamlined, but the people made them work very well! I have the feeling that if I went over there, I would learn far more than I could teach!
I have high respect for those that are able to make their dreams happen even thought not having the resources that other have. Needing to think out of the box, being resourceful with whatever they have in their hands instead of having easy access to everything. This is a true natural talent. Only if they had the chance that most of us take as granted
Sorry to disappoint you, but “having the chances” is absolutely not the problem here. I have worked in several Sub-Saharan African countries (mainly Sierra Leone, Gabon, Nigeria, Cameroon, Guinea Bissau and Congo Brazzaville) and work there is frustrating beyond belief even when all the “chances” are there. Trying to get ANYTHING done is an absolute struggle, from respecting shift schedules and deadlines (😂), to stealing everything that isn’t nailed down (and sometimes even what IS nailed down), to the general lack of anything that could even remotely be considered as “regularity”. People don’t come to the shifts, they disappear, their tools disappear, tools break immediately, when you teach somebody how to use a tool you need to repeat it 1000x times, if there are jobs that require independent maintenance (or even maintenance in general) you’re just done for. Yes, they learn how to make do with what they have…. But that’s because their way of doing or not doing everything else forces them to the end of the line, where they are literally forced to make do.
Bro, they tore apart decent drones to make these Frankensteins. It's that make it better mentality that always fails if you have absolutely no knowledge of physics.
@@A_Stereotypical_Heretic That´s wrong, all of those drones seams to have DIY parts on board, many of those parts I know and can easily identify 100%. Good delivery dude! Very careful balance between appreciating some good effort, but also acknowledging that as a continent, Africa is going to need to up its drone game a fair bit :-)
Rather than using wood and broken plastics they should look into reusing and repurposing high density polymer ethylene or HDPE. This material is commonly found in many plastic containers for consumer products like laundry soap/bleach/milk jugs, shampoo/conditioner/drink bottles. It's easy to melt down at low temps, I've seen people use small toaster ovens for small projects. (Outside of course, it can get smokey😆) Plus, it can be welded, it floats in water, comes in numerous different colors or translucent and it's extremely versatile. This won't biodegrade like wood does so it's a much more practical material for drones or any other ROV'S. Just thought I'd pass on something that I've picked up from others. ✌😄👍
This was interesting in an artistic kind of way but motors, batteries and wires can be found anywhere. What im really curious about is the flight controllers and power management boards that they are using, if they salvaged radio components from other remote controlled devices and repurposed or if anyone is putting together these things from their basic parts. Brushless DC motors require their own power distribution boards to time the location of charges in the motor coils, each pulling it further around 360deg to full rotation, its usually 3 phase, and so far the power to weight ratio is much higher for brushless motors vs the classic brushed cheapo motors (you see a few in this video). Constructing a power distribution or flight controller board from spare parts and then getting it to work with spare transmitter/receivers is where its at.
Most of the materials used in technology solar batteries and electronics are sourced in Africa, therefore governments should endeavour to train the youth in technology ! You can can see there is a lot of raw untapped talent that can be utilised for the greater good of Africa !

Some folks assuming that any motor placed on a frame automatically qualifies as drones 😩🥶 Reminds me of the Kenyan who made a "helicopter" that was more of an upside down lawn mower than a flight vehicle.
that is called "cargo cultism", something africa practice since many decades. These drones are straight up garbage, the only important part of a drone is the motors and control board, and that is what they did not make, the rest, you could use a block of foam and it would still work, so there is zero achievement here.
It has to be started somehow, this makes more sense than buying one and flying it or buying a kit and putting it together. You learn, you know how they work and if there is support you can manufacture it, the prototypes start like this.
@@Leo_Pard_A4how is it useless? Drones are the future. The United States are already ahead in the game. China is there. Europe is in.
