there's 3 mantras and 3 npcs in the depths city in terrible situations yet the devs didnt think those 3 npcs could be the way to get the blindseer mantras
I think saving someone (a single person) from the depths is a fine requirement for the first mantra, but afterwards it should be more unique. Tbh, it’s not like the current progression is hard, it’s just repetitive and time consuming.
Deepwoken definitely lost a lot of day 1 players including myself when it became obvious that the devs were going to continue adding new talents, mantra abilities, oaths, etc without a way to obtain them on existing characters, essentially falling back on the permadeath system to create cheap "replayability" by forcing you to either wipe and re-progress your existing slot with its race or start a new slot while your old characters slowly fall out of relevance with every passing update. I thought we were heading a good direction when they made bells re-rollable, allowing us to finally take another chance at the defining ability of our character, but so far that's not come to any other build customization elements like talents or mantras. Everyone should be able to eventually roll into their ideal build by simply keeping a character alive for long enough, instead of having dozens of thrown away builds that never get a chance to incorporate new content into them. Day 1 Shadowcast players especially... literally had its mantra count basically doubled and all old Shadowcast players had to wipe to obtain them.

@@sergiogonzalezbellido3865 I don't think high levels having a significant advantage over low levels is a problem... you can't really actually wipe to a high level unless you're farming depths and reaching max is pretty quick compared to launch. My entire complaint is that once you hit max level, you're done. Your build is set in stone and if the devs add new talents you want or new mantras to your attunement there is no way to obtain them, discouraging myself and others making any sort of build before layer 2 comes out, knowing full well whatever we make will just be irrelevant with the new build options coming.

Unfortunate that they didn't add these deepbound QoL changes last week along with the release of it itself, would have helped my deepbound build which is now power 51. On the bright side, I guess I have an unobtainable flaw now that I (believe) doesn't even do anything since I barely see a difference in the hp regen. Honestly, voidwalker is just a big chore to get, and the fact that it's another mainly PvP based origin is sorta disappointing, especially considering that I was hoping for more PvE based origins, although I guess we have deepbound, but deepbound can also be semi-experienced by just going to the depths. they should definetly add a main storyline kind of thing that makes you go on a straight line, from island to island for faster progression with bunch of world and npc interaction, im tired of beating the same fucking npc in hopes of getting good loot, i need something to kill time with, origins should mean much more than the guy at the inn that gives you money, or just a diffrent spawn place.
It wouldn’t really fit the world from what I can see but based off of the voidwalker description that’s where the devs are heading, a different storyline for each origin would be cool tho

I think they should redo the minityrsa origin like spawning in as a fugitive with minityrsa armor called minityrsa apprentice cloak I think it could make the overworld a bit challenging
glad to finally see a youtuber point out how the progression in this game is just repetition. almost every single thing you progress in the game is just plain old repetition. even leveling up is repetition. you just sit in the same spot, kill mobs, maybe go to arena, and repeat. progression in deepwoken should be full of exploration and challenge, not just sitting in songseeker or hive waiting for mobs to spawn

I think having grips to unlock voidwalker is fine (maybe lowered for less repetition) but I think having multiple grips to get an oath would be stupid.
they should make these like factions in where you dont have to wipe, if your character meets the requirements it will be able to join it while its still alive. this way you dont have to wipe in order to unlock these things.
High level with voidwalker was running everywhere. Bro was so fast I could barely see him Lmao. Gripped me once. After that, I was talking to someone and I turned around, dude was just standing there. Tried to properly fight him this time, got folded. The oaths are gonna be similar abilities to the time bubble since Arch Mage mentioned that the time slow bubble that knifes of eylis are using is infact oath magic.
Sadly, the devs need to work on how to unlock this. So many people were getting it and it'll cause people to leave the community along with the game. Thanks to this origin being the most controversial and problematic origin.
One of the voidwalker problems is that u can't get out of songseeker without a boat and theres no boat seller in voidheart nor there is one in songseeker
The most annoying part about being a huge unity is that there’s no cap to keep hunting and even after they get a kill on a freebie they can just do it again it’s not fun to get hunted till you wipe

The comment is old, but this is by far one of the best and realest critiques towards the Game. You perfectly summarized my agonizing Journey to learn this Game. Its Frustrating that the Game doesnt explain you literally anything, so that you are forced to watch UA-cam Videos/ the Wiki to get a hold of it. And Sure the Game itself is structured to be this hard and unforgiving, but this is Hella ridiculous. Even dark Souls and elden Ring explain you the main premise/mechanics of the Game muuuch better than deepwoken. Also there reay should be an incentive for Players to hunt other Players in their Level range, instead of hunting and harrassing freshies

I did all this and it literally said "New origin unlocked: Voidwalker" and when I wiped and went to origins all I saw was just castaway so now I have to do it all again.

Nah, we're allowed to hold the devs to certain standards. They said they wanted this game to be something other than what rogue was, right? There are legitimately so many ways to make interesting oath progression. Maybe defeat one boss each, maybe explore/do npc quests, maybe survive something similar to the trial of one. They're already doing it with the uncap stat quests. 15 kills, 20 freshies, 6 owls is just lazy quest design imo.
not to mention how unbelievably unfair voidwalker is. There will be 12 bounties on the board and you're lucky if you can teleport to 1 or 2 of them. Once you teleport it's a coin toss 50/50 that they will either run and log or they will have team mates to gank you.
OK so it turns out u DO NOT need to grip people. You just have to find the ship event, gain. certain amount of rep with the knives of eylis(not too much) and then find another ship event, and walk into the leader.(the guys with the time stop ability)
I agree that the game is repetitive, but it is not because it is based around doing x amount of y stuff (blindseer: help 20 people), since that is the base of most if not all rpgs. The game feels repetitive once you feel that you're not progressing, or it is really easy to do. Perma death and the talent tiers really point this out. People have to rely on the knowledge they already know to beat the game. If they don't, then they'll get to start from the phase they've already mastered. Now that truly feels repetative, since you won't have the joy of exploring anymore/the player will be more and more impatient Talent tiers are icing on the cake for older players, since they'll trigger the repetativeness of perma death intentionally. I would throw these tiers out of the window since they're not balancing, but rather choosing a random person to be more priveledged than others. Making all talents balanced well enough and adding a lot more would help, and the rarer talents being tied to higher stat requirements would help too. For example: Exoskeleton as an 80 fortitude normal talent I personally don't mind similar stuff having similar requirements, Tacet is a ganking murmur afterall and Voidwalker is just for that. A higher variety would be epic too. Let me know what you think.
First point: It is the base of all MMORPGs, not RPGs. Deepwoken isn't an MMORPG, it's a shared world RPG. "Collect ten bear asses" is lauded as bad design but it's needed to pad out the quests in an MMORPG because they can't make every single quest unique when they are only there for EXP. Deepwoken quests are needed to progress your character, not for raw EXP. Blindseer's progression is terribly designed purely because the risk is too great, it's one thing to farm Corrupted Owls for feathers, it's another thing to wait for someone to enter the depths trial and hope you can handle the enemies he brings with him. Blindseer prog also makes it harder for yourself if you don't do it early, since if you're high enough level for an Enforcer you are now fighting two Enforcers, and it's not particularly fair to expect everyone to play Deepwoken like NanoProdigy just to progress, especially if it ends up being that you have to fight a total of 40 enforcers and hope the guy you're helping survives the fight
@@PanmasterAtArms But getting raw exp and progressing is the same thing in deepwoken. If someone wants to get the talents, murmurs, resonance they want, they have to get the exp for that. Quests that don't ask you to bring x amount of y, would essentially need to be a bit story driven (like Karliah's quest) or a boss battle (Duke for Regent). These are the most common alternatives, which we already have. If even the format of the quests / progression's base format gets repetitive, then you could say that Dark souls gets repetitive after all the boss fights, or minecraft after placing a ton of blocks. The game will eventually have a lot of quests like an MMORPG, and it would be impossible to make them all unique. I personally think that Deepwoken right now is really balanced in regard of quest types, and kind of reflect the playstyle / character you're progressing towards. But I do agree they can be hard, since that is the point of this bordeline Dark Souls ripoff. Considering how the game expects you to replay the whole thing a couple of times, you can't make anything feel unique if the player plays too much.

I dont think its the same for blindseer to progress blind seer you dont just need to save people thats only one move for the others you have to traverse and explore and find the other two glowing texts and read them.
Some of these progressions with oaths are tedious and stupid, i dont think it needs to be hard in fact i think it should be pretty god damn easy to do and not 20-25 freshie saves from depths, the vision shaper is alright in my opinion if you can kill the owls your self

Origins are good but tbh they shouldn’t be unlocked. They should be something you get when buying the game. It’s a character backstory. Even if it’s game changing it’s just an experience. The benefits aren’t even crazy enough to warrant unlocking.

Unfortunate that they didn't add these deepbound QoL changes last week along with the release of it itself, would have helped my deepbound build which is now power 51. On the bright side, I guess I have an unobtainable flaw now that I (believe) doesn't even do anything since I barely see a difference in the hp regen. Honestly, voidwalker is just a big chore to get, and the fact that it's another mainly PvP based origin is sorta disappointing, especially considering that I was hoping for more PvE based origins, although I guess we have deepbound, but deepbound can also be semi-experienced by just going to the depths. It wouldn’t really fit the world from what I can see but based off of the voidwalker description that’s where the devs are heading, a different storyline for each origin would be cool tho

glad to finally see a youtuber point out how the progression in this game is just repetition. almost every single thing you progress in the game is just plain old repetition. even leveling up is repetition. you just sit in the same spot, kill mobs, maybe go to arena, and repeat. progression in deepwoken should be full of exploration and challenge, not just sitting in songseeker or hive waiting for mobs to spawn

I think having grips to unlock voidwalker is fine (maybe lowered for less repetition) but I think having multiple grips to get an oath would be stupid.

they should make these like factions in where you dont have to wipe, if your character meets the requirements it will be able to join it while its still alive. this way you dont have to wipe in order to unlock these things.

The oaths are gonna be similar abilities to the time bubble since Arch Mage mentioned that the time slow bubble that knifes of eylis are using is infact oath magic.
Sadly, the devs need to work on how to unlock this. So many people were getting it and it'll cause people to leave the community along with the game.

The most annoying part about being a huge unity is that there’s no cap to keep hunting and even after they get a kill on a freebie they can just do it again it’s not fun to get hunted till you wipe

The comment is old, but this is by far one of the best and realest critiques towards the Game. You perfectly summarized my agonizing Journey to learn this Game. Its Frustrating that the Game doesnt explain you literally anything, so that you are forced to watch UA-cam Videos/ the Wiki to get a hold of it.
And Sure the Game itself is structured to be this hard and unforgiving, but this is Hella ridiculous. Even dark Souls and elden Ring explain you the main premise/mechanics of the Game muuuch better than deepwoken.

I did all this and it literally said "New origin unlocked: Voidwalker" and when I wiped and went to origins all I saw was just castaway so now I have to do it all again.

like a boss that has a bounty and you gotta defeat it would be cool, but i still think voidwalker should be unadded because of the fact that i cannot chill 1 moment ingame without someone assassinating me
this path is simply unfair to new players it scares them away it shouldn't because they can grind new players they should fight each other to get it I mean an arena to the death between two candidates for theshadow I really invited friends to play this but after seeing the unfair ways of progression and how most players take advantage of new ones they lost interest just unbalanced and Getting good at defending takes up your whole day and not everyone has that I think the game will die if it doesn't take care of new players
We can't really complain about things like repetition for games like this though considering that's kinda how they're built to be, repeating certain actions over and over. I think we should at least just be glad it's not some level up quest bandit beater and at least more unique than most games.
Nah, we're allowed to hold the devs to certain standards. They said they wanted this game to be something other than what rogue was, right? There are legitimately so many ways to make interesting oath progression. Maybe defeat one boss each, maybe explore/do npc quests, maybe survive something similar to the trial of one. They're already doing it with the uncap stat quests. 15 kills, 20 freshies, 6 owls is just lazy quest design imo.

not to mention how unbelievably unfair voidwalker is. There will be 12 bounties on the board and you're lucky if you can teleport to 1 or 2 of them. Once you teleport it's a coin toss 50/50 that they will either run and log or they will have team mates to gank you.

OK so it turns out u DO NOT need to grip people. You just have to find the ship event, gain. certain amount of rep with the knives of eylis(not too much) and then find another ship event, and walk into the leader.(the guys with the time stop ability)

I agree that the game is repetitive, but it is not because it is based around doing x amount of y stuff (blindseer: help 20 people), since that is the base of most if not all rpgs. The game feels repetitive once you feel that you're not progressing, or it is really easy to do. Perma death and the talent tiers really point this out. People have to rely on the knowledge they already know to beat the game. If they don't, then they'll get to start from the phase they've already mastered. Now that truly feels repetative, since you won't have the joy of exploring anymore/the player will be more and more impatient
Talent tiers are icing on the cake for older players, since they'll trigger the repetativeness of perma death intentionally. I would throw these tiers out of the window since they're not balancing, but rather choosing a random person to be more priveledged than others. Making all talents balanced well enough and adding a lot more would help, and the rarer talents being tied to higher stat requirements would help too. For example: Exoskeleton as an 80 fortitude normal talent
I personally don't mind similar stuff having similar requirements, Tacet is a ganking murmur afterall and Voidwalker is just for that. A higher variety would be epic too.

First point: It is the base of all MMORPGs, not RPGs. Deepwoken isn't an MMORPG, it's a shared world RPG. "Collect ten bear asses" is lauded as bad design but it's needed to pad out the quests in an MMORPG because they can't make every single quest unique when they are only there for EXP. Deepwoken quests are needed to progress your character, not for raw EXP. Blindseer's progression is terribly designed purely because the risk is too great, it's one thing to farm Corrupted Owls for feathers, it's another thing to wait for someone to enter the depths trial and hope you can handle the enemies he brings with him.
Blindseer prog also makes it harder for yourself if you don't do it early, since if you're high enough level for an Enforcer you are now fighting two Enforcers, and it's not particularly fair to expect everyone to play Deepwoken like NanoProdigy just to progress, especially if it ends up being that you have to fight a total of 40 enforcers and hope the guy you're helping survives the fight
@@PanmasterAtArms But getting raw exp and progressing is the same thing in deepwoken. If someone wants to get the talents, murmurs, resonance they want, they have to get the exp for that. Quests that don't ask you to bring x amount of y, would essentially need to be a bit story driven (like Karliah's quest) or a boss battle (Duke for Regent). These are the most common alternatives, which we already have. If even the format of the quests / progression's base format gets repetitive, then you could say that Dark souls gets repetitive after all the boss fights, or minecraft after placing a ton of blocks. The game will eventually have a lot of quests like an MMORPG, and it would be impossible to make them all unique. I personally think that Deepwoken right now is really balanced in regard of quest types, and kind of reflect the playstyle / character you're progressing towards. But I do agree they can be hard, since that is the point of this bordeline Dark Souls ripoff.
Considering how the game expects you to replay the whole thing a couple of times, you can't make anything feel unique if the player plays too much.

Origins are good but tbh they shouldn’t be unlocked. They should be something you get when buying the game. It’s a character backstory. Even if it’s game changing it’s just an experience. The benefits aren’t even crazy enough to warrant unlocking.
