FYI: The transmitter antenna on the Mini 2 controller is part of the phone holder. It may be useful to keep it deployed even when using this FPV setup.
I bought FPV goggles at a Goodwill store for about $9. I don't know how often such things can be found used. But the store had 2 of them. I picked the one that looked like it would clean up nice. The optics are pretty much the same in these goggles made for phones. However, I liked the point you made about peripheral vision or width (for lack of better terminology) . Caveat Emptor.
The biggest problem with this goggles is weight. You must use a tripod or your head will fell off. Too heavy even without placing a phone inside. I will mode a box and uses the lens. Or continue using a tripod to hold it in place.
I am now inspired....home brew version using reading glasses. These do seem like a decent product, but I am going super cheap for a proof of concept. - Cheers
Even with an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, you are required to have a Visual Observer (VO) to maintain visual line of sight (VLOS) at all times. Rule 107.33, SS (b) The remote pilot in command must ensure that the visual observer is able to see the unmanned aircraft in the manner specified in §107.31.
Can someone explain to me the purpose of the cord to control and phone. Far i know for my drone. It's not needed. I don't see any difference with cord in and with cord out. Matter of fact VR mode still spits screen. So what is the cord supposed to do? Unless my drone don't support FPV or VR. I have the ruko f11 Gim and Gim 2. Both support VR and FPV. But putting in the cord it does nothing. I will say flying has been awesome with the drone mask
What cable did you get and where? i got a micro USB to USB c that says it is a sync usb cable however it does not work, i read that the Dji cables had a little board to make it all work which is why normal sync cables dont work
It would have been good to show the settings you configured in the app. I assume you set the gimbal to fpv mode? Also, what do you set for return to home on a balcony? Do you got your balcony height set for the altitude, or do you set it for hover or something else?

Ah…the phone holder on the controller is the aerial. Don’t close it. Also Litchi (pronounced Ly-chee like the fruit) does do split screen view with the mini 2.

nope. Another principle of image formation - split VR requires two lenses (a regular helmet), not one.
