This remix is intended to provide better insight into how our courts and the folks who run them administer justice to the public they serve. Remember they have to deal with folks who are often having their worst day on a daily basis.

When it comes to my pets, I have the patience of a saint...not so much with people...doubt I could ever be a judge, given how obnoxious some people can get in court.

2 minutes in and I can't believe how much it rankles when people don't say your honor. Judge Simpson is unbelievably patient and respectful towards people and he certainly deserves respect in return. Who in their right mind speaks to a judge like this.

In California, "Judge" and "Your Honor" are both formally appropriate terms of address to the judge. The two times I've been a participant in court (hearings both times, not trials), I addressed the judge simply as "Ma'am." It wasn't a problem either time.
Mr. Duncan is deliberately being obtuse. He doesn't want to accept his responsibility for the crime at hand
I've watched plenty of Judge Simpson lately and the 1 person who is on their game always is Caitlin Kirby so that attorney trying to call her out in front of the Judge was just plain stupid. There was also earlier this week another stupid individual on the toilet who set the phone on the floor in front of herself to stand up and yank up her drawers. Thank GOD it was dark and blurry in the bathroom.

spent 5 years locked up spoke to the guards and inmates like that for that long has no communication skills ever instilled in him as a human being
Do you even hear yourself. Who is the authority here? The judge? The prosecutor? Why are they deserving of authority? You're mad because he doesn't play by the rules? Whose rules? A persons life is their own.

If you're going to be a US citizen, that means you are beholden to the laws of the United States.
These judges are elected to serve as the final word in most laws so yes, you absolutely should (and you WILL) submit to their authority. That's how civilized society works.

@Salt-dispenser Obviously we are beholden to the laws and the system in america, but this "authority" should be questioned and not just given respect simply because it is the mode of justice already in place. It sounds like you almost revere authority but I could be wrong. There are people who do things because they are safe and familiar and there are people who can think critically. Yeah the judges/police/prosecutors hold all the cards and they consistently abuse their power. This is a documented fact. Simpletons hold people in contempt simply for rude behavior and that type of abuse of power is the mark of coward. People aren’t getting dumber. First of all, you now have access to see all these people for the first time in history. Secondly, you’re only seeing the cases that are entertaining which is the whole point of this channel. If you watch the actual court stream, 95% go smoothly & show respectful people.

Love it! But, I have one major issue here OSG...Whom do we love more, Judge Simpson or Judge Middleton? They are both so great at what they do!
They're both up there with judge Gauthier except judge Gauthier is much more severe. Granted he doesn't deal with just sovcits or DUI defendants, he deals with very serious criminal cases too.
I love both of them! Different personalities. I’d rather have Judge Middleton if I had to face one! Judge Simpson is sterner! Which he should be!

The guy was lucky that the PD stepped in to help. The PD Fellows are essentially trainees, and she was trying to go by the book but Duncan was screwing it up. And then screwed it up anyway.

I love Judge Simpson, he doesn’t take nonsense. He doesn’t like to adjourn, he takes as the attorney’s not being prepared which it is most of the time. That’s why justice moves so slow, attorney’s dragging it out, dragging their heels.

Im always amazed at the fact that these people have attorneys. Your only job when you have an attorney is to speak when spoken to, answer questions when asked, and let your attorney do the rest.

One thing I have wondered. Do defendants not realize public defenders are there to fight for them? I feel like some of them truly dont get that lol.
Not when they sit in overcrowded jails unarraigned for months or years at a time & can't comprehend anything which is why they're there in the first place most of the time. It just looks like "the system" is out to get them and too many were raised to fight the wrong people out there too.
