    Tip from fellow tubeless masochist: wrap a wet towel/rag over the tyre when pushing it over the rim with your palms; makes an absolutely massive difference. Not only is it better than tyre levels (or even a tyre bead jack) but also no chance of damaging or even scratching the rim.

    Conti GP5000TL - 300g, Valve - 20 g, Sealant - 50 g = 370 g
    Conti GP5000 - 215g, inner tire - 105 g (Latex - 70g) = 320 g (285 g)
    Rolling resistance is same between TL and latex. You can put baby powder to butyl tube for better result on rolling resistance.
    You need to pump latex tube every day, so you can be sure you have optimal pressure.
    Tubeless is great on MTB. I can't live without that. But my road bikes are on latex.

Could not seat with track pump, had to use compressor but they have held pressure during the week OK, front better than back but I did rub sealant along the rim with my finger on the front after hassle with the rear but still could not seat with track pump.

    I've been riding tubeless for years and sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you will get punctures. Test the amount of sealant you have in the tyre every month and listen to the stuff sloshing around. Most punctures will seal with the sealant within a few revolutions. For the bigger holes like a sidewall cut caused by riding over a bottle top carry Stans Darts and buy some spare Darts . The Dart holder contains a valve core remover. So far I've never had to use a tube to get home but was very close last week when I needed two darts in one large slit to get home and the tyre would only hold 15 psi without blowing out the darts. Enjoy the ride

    Top tip . Continental tubeless tyres are not suitable for some hook less rims . If you over inflate beyond the recommended 6 bar you can burp the tyre off the rim. This is a discovery I would not want to repeat as both tyres popped of the rim when I inflated in a cold garage then went out on a very sunny day and the expansion took off both tyres from the rims in a sealant vomit which stuck my legs together. Enjoy the ride

    Nice work Charles...welcome to the tubeless world. I have been on tubeless for around 6 months now. I love the road feel...and I don't carry any repair kit anymore - except small pump to top the pressure back up should I get a leak that lets too much air out. However, I caught up last week, as my small pump snapped the damn tubeless valve off. Expensive cab trip home. Lesson...on longer rides, I will take a tube with me (for my endurance rides I do use a bar bag anyways). My set up is super easy. Farsports tubeless wheels (38mm), Schwalbe One TLE and Stans sealant. Setting the bead etc is easy. Set bead first, take valve out, put sealant in, replace valve...pump. Oh, and wax your chain FTW.

    I run tubulars on one bike. The whole tubeless thing is deja vu all over again. Brutal to mount and a nightmare when you flat. Flats in the field are easiest to deal with using tubed clinchers mounted on rims that weren't designed for tubeless tires. Hopefully, you have fewer flats with tubeless/sealant, but you'll definitely have them and it won't be fun.

    • @CharlesOuimet
      @CharlesOuimet  4 роки тому +1

      Tubular is more trouble to setup tho, but great feeling is what people claim! I like the fact with tubeless, I can still put in a tube in emergency. But even with tyre levers, I don't know if I can take it off the rim alone. Anyways, cyclist are always super nice and always offer help!

    • @mellis4726
      @mellis4726 4 роки тому

      @@CharlesOuimet Tubulars are a pain to setup. There's some easier glue now--Mastik Pro. Even 23s at high pressure are super smooth. Tubular rims are substantially lighter, so they accelerate like nothing else. We know now that they have significantly higher rolling resistance though, so if it's all about speed, tubeless tires certainly have them beat.

      @leflate 4 роки тому +1

      Mark Ellis You can’t pour in sealant without removing the valve so that’s a given. The Race sealant has to be poured directly into the tire (again as per Stan’s). They claim that it will clog up syringes and those little bottles, and that would be why it only comes in those damn expensive almost-a-litre bottles. That said, I have some at home and I’d love to see what would happen in practice...

    • @mellis4726
      @mellis4726 4 роки тому

      @@leflate I've not used the race sealant--just the regular stuff with tubulars where it has to go down the valve stem. It would be easy enough to clear the hole with a small screw driver if it did get blocked. That said, if the race sealant can effectively plug a hole that size, you're not going to get many flats with tubeless tires. 😊

    • @CharlesOuimet
      @CharlesOuimet  3 роки тому +1

      Love and hate relationship!
      I love the ride feel, puncture protection, lower PSI, lower rolling resistance.
      But I hate mounting it, it's messy, it will destroy your hands trying to fit the tire on the wheel. If you are stuck with a slashed tire, GOOD LUCK taking it apart alone and re-mount it with a tube. Sealant is expensive. And what sucks the most is once you got the tire setup, you don't want to take it appart or switch it up for no reason :)
      But ride feeling is way better, so it's worth all the hassle.
      GP5000 TLR are incredibly hard to mount, I cant do it alone
      It was easier on my Pirelli, I got it without too much trouble.

    • @wilfriedhuijbregts9828
      @wilfriedhuijbregts9828 3 роки тому

      @@CharlesOuimet it is really the tire you are using. I had Across wheels, where the tire wouldn't go on, no matter what I tried. With Pirelli P-Zero's, it's a walk in the park. What happens if you get a puncture with your Conti's? You probably have to call someone to pick you up, no way you will get them off. Even though, I don't think you should ever use tubes any more. There are the repair kits with bacon strips, and co2 cannisters that you can use to pump up the tire when you put the strip in.
