a +1/b = b +1/c = c + 1/a
If we compare the like powers of thw given eq we get
a = b = c eq 1
1/b =1/c =1/a
If we reciprocate the equation
We get b=c=a [eq 2 ] which is equal to eq 1
Hence if we compare eq 1 with eq 2
We get a =b =c = 1
Hence abc = 1

sir I have a doubt about this question pls help:
for a natural no b, let N(b) denote the number of natural no a for which the equation x ^2 +ax+b=0
has integer roots. what is the smallest value of b for which N(b)=6? [PRE-RMO -2014]
This problem reduces to this
(a-k)(a+k)=4b
Where k is some natural number
Now N(b)=6
Means it is talking about the the no of even factor because if you see
A^2-k^2=4b
If you take mod 4 you get to know that a and k are same mod 4 (0 and 2)
Hence a-k and a+k both should be even
Basically 4b=2^2b
Now there is one more concept that if n is factor of b then b/n is also a factor of it
So to minimize b we should have b=2^3(3^2)=72
You can easily check it if you put in some time
Hence 4b=288
Would give 6 unique values of a. As
72 ,22,18,27,17,38
Waise simple b=1 karke a and C nikal aata a=2 and c=(-0.5)
This question is conceptually wrong as when you are multiplying equation 1,2&3 and cancelling (a-b) , (b-c) & (c-a) are ensuring that a≠b, b≠c & c≠a but actually a=b=c
A,B,C are distinct which means none of A-B , B-C and C-A are 0 hence can be safely cancelled

Let all those three terms be =k
Then adding all those terms
And grouping (a+1/a)..+c+1/c=3k
Then applying am gm on these terms would tell that k> = 2
Hence a+1/b would also be >=2
But applying an go here would tell us that is >=2root of a(1/b)
Which shows a=n and use this similar fact to show b=c
Hence a=b=c

From this equation we get ab=1
Aise hi ham bc=1 aur ca ki bhi 1 nikalenge fir teeno ko multiply ker denge to (abc)²=1 so [abc] = 1 aa jaega agar ye easy laga ho to like aur comment ker dena

Good afternoon sir. Solved it by the method of A.M >= G.M. Got (a+1/b) = 2 and a=b=c=1. Hence abc = 1. Don’t know if it is a correct approach as I assumed a, b, c to be positive integers while no info about it was given in the question.
