This is the video that introduced me to the River Kings and the quality of paddling in our Piedmont area. Living on the coast, I have only kayaked in long sit on tops and only dealt with tidal current and winds. This video sparked a flame that has driven me to buy additional boats and my GF, who lives in the Triangle, and I are looking forward to our first tastes of moving water paddling.
Right on Rob!!! I love stories like this! That is what it is all about! Keep an eye on the channel, I will try to do some meet ups this year if things ever get back to normal...Thanks for the kind words!
Usually a person of more words. Written or spoken but this day was best left to listening to others and the river.. What a great thing to be a part of and so grateful for the day that was given to all of us and the fellowship shared.
nice video and scenery, liked those fall colors, I like to kayak with those fall colors around - God's paintbrush in creation, you guys have a lot of fun and good fellowship, nice to see that
I cannot belive that I met you on my birthday weekend at the Uwharrie overland summit! That was the icing on the cake to an amazing weekend with my brother. Can't wait to hit some rivers with you
Sorry I missed you guys last night! What an awesome crew and feast on the river! Perfect weather, friends, water and food! Glad you got your truck started up. BTW.... glad it was a short trip or that cast iron skillet woulda been the first thing to go! LOL!!!!
Thanks Jeff! No worries! We missed chatting with you. Brian and I were floored with the instant kitchen and all the wares that came out of those boats!!!
Great video. While I love kayaking year round, I have to say my favorite time is late October through mid November. There just something about being on the water at this time of the year that is extra relaxing.
Yes sir Dirk!! Was stunning on the river and those burgers were even better than they looked...and they looked amazing!! The Crossed Paddles crew treated us like kings!
This Uwharrie trip is next on my list. I just got a spray skirt, looking into some dry gear that wont break the bank to get back on the river. It has been too long already!
None of those easy access staircases were there until about 10 years ago. This is why the Uwharrie was so little used for decades. To take out or put in at the 109 bridge required a hike up (or down) a steep mud bank and then along a "goat path" for about 100 years to the roadway above. Nowhere to park other than along road side. I watched many guys who paddled (and dragged) the 7 miles from low water bridge to 109, actually collapse while taking out and hauling their kayaks up to 109. The take out you show here was not there - you had to either hump up an old gated Jeep trailhead for a mile or continue to, and across Tillery to the Morrow Mountain access below the Falls Dam. None of the roads crossing the Uwharrie all the way up to the mill dam were paved until about a decade ago. I was the one who introduced the guys at the Central Carolina Land Trust (Three Rivers Land Trust now) to the river back in the 90's. I know every square inch of this river from the old mill dam (gone now) all the way to Tillery (about 25 miles) better than I do the back of my hand.
@@RiverKingsKayak The water level gauge was almost always broken (don't know if it's even in service anymore - it was just below 109) so on a perfect water level day I took a chisel and put a V-notch into one of the concrete pylons on the low water bridge to indicate the best water level. We'd go twice a week, water level permitting, and I'd drive down the day prior to a trip and look at the water level against the V-notch and then decide if we'd go or not.
Great video with the crew and fall colors. This video is the lower section. Could you suggest where to put in if one was looking to do a 4 plus day paddle?
Thanks RxRidgerunner! The navigable sections of this river total around 30 miles. Unless you really went slow, I dont think it could give you 4 days of travel...

@@RiverKingsKayak we definitely will!! I'm in the Triangle pretty much every other weekend, sometimes more often. We are always up for new adventures!

Thanks Guy! Always a pleasure to have you and Evan with us! Congrats of finding the GoPro! awesome!
Evan found it rather quickly.
Lesson(s) learned.
Special day on the river with good people and an island buffet can't beat that, hate i missed it. Thanks for sharing the adventure Pete.
Thanks Dirt Dobber! We missed you out there! You would love the crossed paddles crew!
A 23 paddler crew is a big job! Even the shuttle takes project management. Good on you!
For sure Frank! The Crossed Paddles Crew handled everything. I was just along for the ride!

Thank You had a great time, see you on the River!

Totally agree Mike! Thanks!
Cool to see Billy out there! Awesome video Pete. Those leaves falling were absolutely beautiful! I wish I had one of those burgers!

I grew up in them there Woods sure is beautiful I miss home.
Right on NC!
I've been wanting to paddle the Uwharrie. Might have to do it this spring. Absolutely love your videos.
Thanks Woody! It is a pretty paddle!
Fantastic vid, Pete!! Scenery was amazing!!! 👍👍👍
Thanks Dan!! And congrats on your recent award!

Right on Tim! It is a good one!
Was the BEST day on the Water- with the most carnage, which is funny, 'Cause NOONE swam...(except THB Josh getting out of his boat...)
he he he!!!
I caused most of the carnage in the battleship!!! 😂🤣 But that's every trip it seems.... I've swamped a pelican a couple times, but zero swims!!!👍
Beautiful day on the water Pete!
Thanks Chris!
Man this is beautiful! I’d love to go on one of these trips!
Come on out Cody!
Big fan of your channel..... Oddly enough, I was in Uwharrie around the same time you filmed this.. Didn't notice you lol
Thanks Robert! Wish we would have crossed paths!
Nice video. I'll look forward to paddling with you sometime.
Right on Andy! Thanks!
7:38 great filming!
Thought you were gonna kiss your burger😘
Awesome video, as usual!
Thanks William! That burger was amazing!!!

I would like to invite the River Kings to Ohio to join me on a 4 day paddle down the Muskingum River. The oldest hand powered lock system in the US.
Thanks Bryan! I will have to check that river out! If I can find the time, that sounds like a fun road trip!
Is that the Wondering Electrician and his inaugural ride
Dang that blue makes good video
Indeed Matt! We missed you in the live chat.
That blue is sharp!!
@@RiverKingsKayak It didn't show up on my feed. Nothing about the video showed all the way till 6 my time.
Do you remember the level reading?
2.68'
I would not want the water level any lower than the stated 2.66 3-4.5 is a perfect level
One day we will get you some culture and you will try the red slaw. Then you will never go back.
LOL!!!! I love it!!
No silly MRE’s for the CrossPaddles…
thats right!!!!
Love your story telling the best 💦💦💦
Thanks Bobby!!!
