Honister from that side is mostly a long drag with a steep chunk towards the end. The trick is to not blow your doors by getting too excited early on. If you're reasonably strong and reasonably determined, then you can make it up with a 28 on the back. Many years ago I rode the Seatoller side with a 28 and it was OK. Steady away at the bottom and try to be as controlled as you can with your effort further up and it can definitely be done!
