Seeing the after report is great. As a foreigner, I really want to go to Comiket and buy lots of BA doujinshi. I recently bought a plane ticket for August to be able to attend Summer Comiket, so I'm doing a lot of research on it, and happened to stumble on this channel. I was reading one of the comments and saw you replied saying you'd make a guide to Comiket. I really hope to see it! I wanna be prepared as much as I can for my first time in Comiket. Definitely will be making it somewhere in June or July since I do find the event quite fun but it does require a lot of prep beforehand imo as going in blind for the first time can definitely ruin the experience with how stressful it can be unprepared. One thing I'm not sure if it'll make it in time for the vid is news on how ticketing for the event works as that has been ever changing but I do recommend checking in June or July with regards to that on the official website as well just in case. Hopefully Blue Archive does as crazy well the coming Comiket too. 🙏🙏 Thanks for the sub and I'm glad you enjoyed the videos if anything.
Happy New Year! 🙌 Yea it was really cool to see them there. I didn't really look into it too much at the time as I wasn't expecting that many to be there but upon exploring the corporate booths it was definetly a pleasant surprise as a result.
I really thought Garupan would be even smaller than hovering around 90 circles recently just because it feels like the same faces on Twitter every time. It looks like even the recent movie release hasn't changed much, so it's the diehards that are still there. The IP almost seems to have a bigger impact than the fanbase size justifies with the recent Expos and the town of Oarai being what it is, but I'm not complaining. Alicesoft in C104 isn't that interesting, but I hope they can do more than an artbook for their gacha next time.
Yea coincidentally I saw one of the girlpan circles wedged in the middle of blue archive this time idk why lol. But it certainly does feel like it has more of a hardcore audience of people who really love it at this point. Kinda like Nanoha where it's small but there are a group of regular faces still making content for it Alicesoft tho...knowing TADA is now in a semi-retired role does make it feel like it'd be tough to see them going super down the gameplay route again outside of the gacha games but I hope they do and manage to make something fun. Dona Dona wasn't too bad tbh even though he wasn't as involved
I follow a lot of artist on twitter that go to these to sell there doujinshi (im so sorry if i spelled it wrong) but I always see these on twitter and really wanna go and buy peoples art and stuff 😭💕
No need to worry about apologizing. You're spot on. 😎 Comiket might end up being a lil intimidating the first time there but it'd be a good place to be able to meet many of the artists who don't turn up as much at smaller events especially so if you get the chance I definitely recommend giving it a visit.
Need to go to a Comiket someday... Missed it this year but still managed to buy some doujins from Melonbooks two weeks ago when I was in Japan. Just discovered your channel from your new Blue Archive video, cheers!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video enough to watch another one if anything! Comiket would definitely be a challenge to go to due to all the post pandemic changes but if you ever do go remember to check if you need to get a ticket in advance! Am planning a video about what to prep for Comiket closer to the upcoming Comiket as someone who has tried almost every method of queuing for the event till now so if you're interested that'll prolly come out half a year from now.
I've always seen anime/manga mention that having a planned route is advised for comiket and I wonder if randomly wandering around really won't do cause that's how me and my buddies do on conventions in our country.
If you plan to casually go and chill it works fine. In that case going later in the day i.e arriving 10.30-12 or even coming during the afternoon slot which starts 1.30 might be better. Planned routes are preferable if you plan to go early with the goal of getting specific things before they go out of stock which doesn't happen for all booths but popular ones run that risk so people who go with that specific goal in mind tend to plan routes so they can get to all booths in the shortest time possible by min-maxing the number of booths they pass travelling from point to point
Did not expect you would be here too Σ( ºωº ) If anything, thank you for the lovely art and I hope you become successful overseas as well! 今回もコミケット行く予定ですので、うろで先生の本楽しみにしています!
Comiket itself hasn't from what I know but owners of the IPs of some popular series that used to get a lot of r18 content there have started restricting it i.e Cygames restricting Uma Musume R18 content so in a sense there has been a fall in r18 content overall but it's not so much something that Comiket itself is restricting as far as I know. That and there has also been a shift after C100 and the pandemic that has resulted in some OG circles not attending anymore as some would rather sell online added on to the fact that they still restrict the total number of attendees (about 130,000 a day compared to prepandemic 240,000) This gives off the impression that R18 content is falling but really it's more just the event having contracted and is in the middle of recovering so overall stuff is just less in general.
@@overworkedsalaryman Thank you very much so it's more like a side effect of pandemic. Actually i am really worried about censorship and regulations ways that going in Japan in recent years and it's really making me paranoid about everything. so if in upcoming years they remove 130,000 attendees restrictions than comiket will go back as usual?
i left my 1 month Japan vacation at 25 such a shame could have caught comiket but ticket price are crazy at that time sigh but manage to buy alot of doujinshi at comiczen and mandrake also my friend want some taimanin merch (dakimakura or merch etc) and man i search everywhere from lashinbang mandrake and trader nothing, poor guy he settle for some spyxfamily merch instead also i end up going to mogra for anime live music is a pretty chill place ngl finding a salaryman there was the most unreal thing man
Yea tickets get crazy especially around new years due to all the people leaving after countdown or returning to Japan for the long holidays. Good that you managed to get the doujins you were looking for though. Taimanin merch I can imagine would be hard to find second hand in general. Come ot think of it I don't think I recall any 2nd hand stores really stocking non-h stuff for that series though it could just be me not searching hard enough. Could always try Mulan, Surugaya or Kbooks as well the next time since inspite of the name kbooks does deal in a lot of goods including 2nd hand doujins too. Though lol guess that salaryman was looking to chill at the life house too. Can imagine some of them would end up just going after work in suit still depending on when it was.
Happy new year. I've always wanted to attend but it's never worked out. timing wise Had to get by searching through places like mandarake. Funny enough I was hearing that comiket was on the decline due to the idea of things like online distribution of doujins starting to catch on and the overcrowding making getting a table too difficult. Blue archive being number one 😭😭😭😭 Not surprising. But a SWF taimanin booth isnt surprising. I just dont think it's working out at least among overseas fans. Im really glad I found your channel. This sort of stuff is immensely fascinating. Scalpers explode.
Glad that you enjoyed the video if anything. 🙏 Yea I saw that data as well about it being on the decline there has been a lot of that going around since after Comiket 100 and it's also part of the reason why people suspect that the entry tickets are going to stay as it's the only way they can maintain the size of the event as it currently is. I don't think them cutting the prices for circles and corps is due to the event just doing that much better but potentially a way for them to try to build up good will with creators since quite a few corps bombed pretty hard in C100 if I'm not mistaken and that let to some level of wariness as well. Though the fact that visitors are on a steady increase does seem to hint to the event at least recovering a little from the pandemic. I don't think it will and I hope it doesn't go back to C96 levels since that's like double the number of people attending now per day which was hell but it does seem like it'll at least get back to some level of fullnesss. SWF Taimanin is truly bizarre though. It felt like a meme at first that they were going as far as to seperate the corporate booths so I had to see it but really wish they'd done more to make the two distinct though if they were gonna do that. Even within Japan idk if the reception for going full sfw is even that good tbh. Action Taimanin kinda toes the line so it works out still but some of the other titles are a lil questionable. At least they do still release some nsfw stuff but it will be interesting seeing them trying to toe the line going forward since it rlly is quite unexplored of a space.
If it gets back to c96 levels I wonder if they will start looking at holding it more times per year or in different locations. Over here when the San Diego Comicon got super big they started holding new events in different parts of the country. Though there is still a bit of mystique about going to THE comicon. Speaking of Genshin despite it being the biggest gacha game in the world, BA beats it out in doujins, afaik Hoyo doesn't have the same R-18 restrictions as Uma Musume. Is this indicative on how "normie friendly" Genshin is that circles don't want to touch the IP with a 10 foot pole or else risk being cancelled??
Genshin certainly has a surprisingly low number of circles in major events in Japan. While it is pretty massive worldwide it doesn't have as big of a market share in Japan if I recall due to the bigger variety of competition it gets I'm guessing. I don't think circles in Japan worry as much about cancellation over fanart but at the very least from what I've heard artists mention there are multiple reasons. One is that the clothing in the game is harder to draw due to the level of detail that goes into the design and it being 3D means that it's a little harder for them to translate it directly into 2D works as well. I'm not an artist so I can't say for sure how true this is but I can see it reducing numbers at least somewhat. The other reason is that it doesn't get as much hype in comparison because the characters don't excite in the same way. With something like BA, Vtubers or even Uma Musume still, there is a greater focus on the individual characters wherein BA and Uma tend to focus more on the characters both in terms of art and character development while Vtubers have a real person behind them to give them very real personalities while also having art designs meant to create maximum impact and draw attention. With Genshin the art tends to be a little more conservative in part because they are based in China where the restrictions on art depictions are a little stricter. (Arguably so is Azur Lane but their global facing branch is based in Tokyo) On top of that the individual character arcs while there is a lot it isn't as heavy on the kind of character traits that would garner player attention as hard imo so while the characters are fine and entertaining still they don't cause some artists at least to be as fired up. Though that's based off what I know from those I keep in contact with at least so it may not be representative of the majority.
@@overworkedsalaryman Those points actually makes sense after you pointing it out. I've always wondered about the low doujin numbers genshin has given its level of worldwide popularity. On a tangent genshin as a whole is quite a polarizing community to be in, as it's a weeb-centric game that has garnered critical acclaim and support, but that also induces a polarizing effect where it attracted the normies, which by now make up a good chunk if not most of the game's demographic. Which basically makes you feel like a tourist within your own supposed community as you have to act "normal" or else earn the ire of the crowd.
@@talonharibon8577 With how big the DAU of the game is you have a point that it very likely would have a large base outside of the usual weeb communities come to think of it since it does exceed most other games by quite a large gap. Especially with the typical character model design in the game I can imagine that segment of the community being likelier to lash out and also being more aggressive when it comes to seeing stuff they aren't as comfortable with rather than accepting it. Which sounds rough having to act a different way like that even while you're enjoying a game but who knows, hopefully one day the game would make those parts of the community more weeb as well and make them more accepting of this side of stuff as well. One can only hope 🙏
Funny u mention how comike commercial booths are 1/20 the price of previous years. Back here in SG, I heard that AFA booths last year were super expensive. and its mainly due to suntec's rental increasing. Which also led to AFA's entry being obnoxiously expensive. That lamu AI vtuber booth also came to AFA. (looks more like nft scams than AI tbh) How are booths allowing people to buy more than 2 copies of stuff. :( The hoshino is so cute!!! otsukaresamadeshita
Deng, AFA has gotten that much more expensive now huh... I still remember going for the first few back when the event used to be a money losing hobby venture for the m2in organiser so to hear it having super high entries now also feels pretty crazy Didn't know that AI potentially nft scam thing was already making rounds that much. Deng, AFA has gotten that much more expensive now huh... I still remember going for the first few back when the event used to be a money losing hobby venture for the m2in organiser so to hear it having super high entries now also feels pretty crazy
Didn't know that AI potentially nft scam thing was already making rounds that much. Was the first time seeing it over here in Japan so was assuming it was a new thing but huh, maybe looking into it would turn into a whole rabbit hole too.
Though yea that Hoshino is really cute and otsukaresamadeshita 🙇
I worry that pile of stuff behind you is getting taller and taller each video, and one day it'll crush you. (It's not like it hasn't tried already)
Gotta find a better way to store the stuff soon before I turn up on the news dead from a cave-in of books
Could make an isekai light novel title out of that scenario
@@O-san4 I got killed by a bunch of weeb books and now I have the power of god and anime in another world
Happy new year!!!! Also this is completely off topic but your room is amazing all of the manga and cute figures that’s literally my dream 😭💖💖💖💖💖💗💗💗💗💗💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Happy New Year and I'm glad you enjoyed the room! Still hoping the day would come where I can get a bigger room so that I can display all the stuff neater but happy to hear it was something you got to enjoy through the video nonetheless! 💖
@@overworkedsalaryman your videos are really good! I liked the last 2 videos you made and the ones on illusion games. I really wanna visit Japan someday. The convention you talked about I would love to go to one of those or see Hololive or Miku perform (I’m such a weeb I’m sorry lol) but definitely really wanna go watching your videos it’s nice to learn about different things 🥰🫶🏼💕💕💖 looking forward to more of your videos! 💗💕
@@VanillaFaithArdalan Relly happy to hear you like the videos. 🙏
Especially with Miku I think they actually did a performance with a mainstream more traditional musician recently I believe so that was quite interesting. Same for Hololive though balloting for the cons for their lives are tough but should be interesting XD
Yea there's a lot of weeb stuff to see in Japan as well so hopefully when you do visit there's plenty to see during the period too!!
@@overworkedsalaryman I definitely am gonna try to go I love miku I have my passport just waiting and saving money. My best friend goes every year so I might go with her. I definitely would love to see hololive or a miku performance if I can. Sometimes she performs in the US she is performing here this year not sure if I’ll go. This is totally random but there’s these dolls in Japan called Dollife Dream dolls I’ve been obsessed with ever since I was little. I’ve always wanted to see the doll shops in Japan are so cute. I’m rambling so much thanks for always responding to my comments 🫶🏼💕✨ I look forward to your videos ❤️
@@VanillaFaithArdalan Oh yea I know those dolls. Though more because I recall the owner of Good Smile really loved those as well. Think I remember seeing dedicated stores for those still in Akihabara though not in huge numbers but it might be worth a visit then. Hope you get to catch the performance in the US at least though! And thanks for watching once again.
Happy New Year. I would buy the Karoshi card game.
Happy New Year to you too! Ngl after further study of that game the amount of satire oozing from it was p good which makes me all the tempted to try it.
Happy new year
Happy New Year!!! Hope the year ended well for you and that this year will be a good interesting one for you too. 🙏
Especially since 3rd anniv is soon
