I've been thinking about ways to remove the jumpscare and replace it with something scarier, but I can't think of anything. Maybe a fade to black after he finishes his song?
Ikr, the jumpscare movement does get us, but it’s a bit slow so it actually isn’t that scary (except for the sound). But hey, did you thought of something before? Y’know, the moment it occurs the power outage, the situation starts to get a bit intense. Then Freddy comes and plays his tune, so we know it has only high *chances* of death, unless it goes 6AM before the jumpscare. Then, the music glitches and stops, so the room we are in gets completely quiet. With total darkness. Without any hope or help. Totally stressful. With that extremely uncomfortable silence and darkness, and with a extremely high chance of death for some seconds. It’s like a signal that your death is slowly, and slowly coming. With some stressful foosteps of death in animatronic form. It’s a stressful, afraid full, disturbing and melancholy sensation, all at the same time. The death is slowly pulling your soul with it, until you pass away in a fast, stressful and scary way. So actually, is not the moment you get jumpscared that is the scariest part. It is the night guard’s last minutes at that pizzeria that makes the game extremely terrifying.
Ya know, without context, Freddy is a nice guy, the power lights out, and he comes to make sure you are alright, and also plays a jingle to calm you down
In this instance, freddy takes as long as he actually can to reach the office and as long as he can to play the song (20 second to approach, 20 seconds to play song). Considering how in both cases he had a 1/5 chance to come early or end the song early, that's 8 chances where the area failed to go dark. He also took a little while to actually attack as well, considering after it goes fully dark he has a 1/5 chance of attacking every 2 seconds.
Very good word's, but the reason freddy takes 20 second's to do everything is because he is trying to build up the suspense on killing new player's, so they get fritt (frightened) but player's who know the game to well (like me and you) dont often see how it could be scary therefore we know whats Will happen.
