This isn't a medieval ship. What they used in medieval times would have been Galleys and early versions of Caravels, Carracks, and Fluyts. Some good examples of caravels are the Nina and the Pinta. The Santa Maria was a Carrack. The Mayflower was also a Carrack. Though Galleys were used predominantly until the early 1300s.
Sorry, I didn't have enough knowledge about the medieval ship. Thank you so much for your detailed explanation!
You are so smart
@@IrieGenie Its all good. Thankyou for the fantastic galleon though hahaha!
@@IrieGenie The ship you made was a 1700 ship
I thought the same thing
20 spruce log stacks
10 oak log stacks
7 dark oak log stacks
13 white wool stacks
That’s how roughly how many materials you will need

i hope both sides of your pillow are cold

thank you, i was wondering how far off from the dock should I build it, ig starting the center at 11 blocks away
thanks goat !!
Thank you, I'm 2 mins in and I think ill have to restart it
Me: builds 3rd layer of ship
Guy in video: I moved it to the ocean, actually the layers need to be underwater
Me: God darn it
I HAD TROUBLE WITH THAT TOO!! AHAHAHAHAHA
I just placed soil blocks on top of the water until it was all covered up and then removed the blocks leaving behind no water
😌😉
Thats why you watch the tutorial first, then build it after
same and i just got to that part and its been 45 minuets trying to get to ware I was at until now I got to redo it all
@@kingsillybagel0437 Oh yeah it was frustrating
I love that you make a small picture on the side, so that it's easy to see how high and wide the objects are :D

yeah man, really helpful bro
I love that you show the parts that need to be underwater for the effect! !
Is it just me or is your dark oak looking like spruce wood, spruce wood is looking like normal oak and oak is looking like birch?
I actually started building the first half of the ship using Sprcue for Dark oak, Oak for Spruce and Birch for Oak. I hated myself when I realized I messed up.
IT coms by de licht
its a kind of texture or shaders or something
The shaddee
Nah I also saw it look bland when I built it out of spruce, oak, birch. Had to burn the whole thing down and restarted. I was on the 16th layers part.
its layer 7 and im starting to notice the impact of natural resorces shortage to the world and society
Oh noes
That’s why you devastate an area you can’t see
Had a great time with this ship build. Did change a few things that I thought made it a little better. Lowered the keel so the lowest level storage can be walked in, added a dingy, 2 extra crows nest, an anchor, and a few cosmetic changes here and there. Also used some of the space that original design buried, like hidden storage under captains cabin. Also added and ender dragon statue on the front of the ship.
Do you by chance still have the world with the ship on it?
I know three years have passed, but i'd love to see the result, if it's possibile. Do you have any pics? If you do I can give you my Instagram @ and you could send them. I'm taking all the inspo and references I can for mine
Took me a while, but I’ve managed to build this in survival with black sails and purple flags, looks incredible! Thank you for an amazing tutorial
I wanna see
I built this on a minecraft server base with my friends, I gotta say, you gotta keep up with the resources especially the wool since its hard to shear and find some when you ran out. Once I finish it, it’s gonna be amazing and wonderful to see at the beachfront
I just made like a billion wool farms
if u have an exp farm that works with spiders you have pretty much infinite wool, thats how i got mine
Did you ever finish it
@@sewerum2620 you can also build a string farm, those are seriously op

Pretty long, but most helpful simplified tutorial. I love how you put the layout in the top right for that step, made it so much better than other tutorials. Well done!!!
This is going to take a lot of sheep grinding for the wool...
You can get 11 stacks from three sheep in a day a couple hours!
Make a Wool farm it's realy easy
Just finished building this in survival. The design is stunning and am very happy with the finished product. By far the best thing I've built in my survival world so far.
I nearly lost brain cells trying to get that first main sail done though. And I messed up on step 2 or 3 so my Hull is different to yours but I made it work by adding in my own blocks to fill any gaps.
Thanks for uploading.

i’m going to build this too!
If you use 49 as the initial setup number it makes for a longer more realistic length for the size sails present. I also use mangrove instead of spruce for a more red hull with black sails for a pirate look
Just finished this, with my own touches. Took 3 days but had a lot of fun doing it. I learned a lot too. Thank you!
About to try it
Thanks for the tip. I have a full mountain I turned into a rustic/medieval village ontop and around it so the ship seemed way to small. About layer 12 I cut it in half and extended it and it looks way better and no where as crowded

You can do it!👍👍
@@IrieGenie yeah!!!!
I wish there was a list of how much of each material that is required to build this, since I'm building this in survival.
From someone also building this in survival, the answer is a few hundred forests and enough sheep to cover earth in wool
Same
I'm building on survival also!
i'm about 9 minutes into the tutorial, and so far I think I've used ~14 stacks of oak wood(instead of spruce), 7ish stacks of dark oak wood, and 8ish stacks of birch(instead of oak)
if I had to guess, probably get like 15 stacks of each type of log. sorry this isn't more exact, but good luck building! 😊

Really nice build, but the tutorial was a bit hard to follow
The beginning of the tutorial is confusing as all hell. The measurements don't add up and I can't tell where each layer needs to start above the one below it. Making things off by a block or two.

Thanks so much for this! My Minecraft world was looking quite empty until I built this! I can't stress enough how much I love this hahaha
Any chance for world download or schematic pls?
In the area below where you built rooms and little tables I replaced it with about 10 cannons and a treasure room with diamonds and I liked the result, thank you for how well explained the tutorial is.
I sat and watched this video all day and it’s only a 40 min vid 😂
This is a great build!!! Although, really tough to build in survival but, I did it anyway lol Yes, he builds fast! However, if you change the playback speed in the settings menu to 0.25 or 0.5 it becomes much easier to do the block counts.

I intend to make some changes to mine to make it look more like a wrecked pirate ship

this was a perfect addition to my medieval harbor
Thanks for that wonderful tutorial. Im sure i misplaced some blocks, but in the end I am fascinated how it came out, even with some mistakes I did. I rebuild it in my creative world, and put another interior design. but yours is definitively inspirational, i learned a lot! In the end i analysed the area with a schematic mod and for those who are wondering:
Yes the white wool blocks are the highest number of blocks you need for that build. In Total its 15 stacks and 5 blocks if I didnt do anything wrong. Thats 965 blocks of white wool.
The wood seems a lot too, but in fact its not, and easy to handle in a survival world.
Could you post schematic pls or world download?
@@piotrgodys4789 I will not do that, because the original design belongs to IrieGenie, and you can use the tutorial to recreate it in your own world. I just comment, because many seems to wonder how much material this might gonna be

Yeah, that was my only complaint/suggestion. I'm sitting here trying to calculate in my head.... gave up after third layer. I'm new to minecraft so this will be only my second big project in survival. I drained a water monument which is now my base and want to have it kinda match the color of the monument a little. I wanna do it with the warped wood or whatever the turquoise wood is from nether, but theres no other wood that I can think of to use with it. These minecraft projects are gonna be the end of me.

Just wanted you to know that if the main sails were extended as if they had wind in them then the small flags would face the opposite direction as well
But the ship would be moving so the flags are correct
@@danm8583 while that’s true the build itself is still
First of all, this build is amazing!
Second of all, I’ve always wondered how on earth captains can see where they’re going with the huge sails and the hull blocking their view
Rum, lots of rum
Captain's primarily used composite to know which direction they go in and a crew member would be in the crows nest and on the deck and they would tell them if there was something in the way
kinda why the "Crow's nest" was invented
@@ottovonbismarck8913 right but that’s more like, for keeping a lookout from afar. It’s not like the crow could shout down instructions from that distance, it wouldn’t be audible. I guess that they wouldn’t need to steer much in open sea, and indeed the one in the crows nest would let them know of approaching rocks, but once they were in rough territory, how would the captain see where to steer?
@@Astrelynx yeah you are roght on that part, and maybe the captain had some men next to him who could see better? I don't really know
Would've helped if the camera angle wasn't in the sky
Seems like a bad angle but in all reality it's the best way to show it since he says "layer 2" "layer 3" etc. It does seem weird at first but any other angle wouldve made it be longer than it already is. It did take me a minute to realize what the numbers were on the diagram in the corner. But that's cause I'm slow af. I'm new to minecraft. I'm 32 and my only accomplishments in this game so far are draining an entire water monument and losing all my netherite armor by trying to swim up a lava stream. Tutorials like this are handy. Just wish he had said how many of each block total. Or a rough estimate.

It is a bit to fast
Looks easy to build I'm building that in my spare time for survival but with no furniture and in my city
his texture pack made me think that the first 8 layers were made out of oak and i had to rebuild it with spruce (i’m 30 minutes into building and only seen 3 minutes of the actual video)
EDIT: if you’re trying to build this put the video in 0.75 or 0.50 speed it will help
You can slow down playback speed with UA-cam's own feature.😊😊
I did the same thing
I think I will replace oak with birch
This made me realize on layer 2 he placed 31 dark oak instead of 29 😊
great tutorial, thanks to him I learned how to build pirate ships
One of the greatest builds Ive ever seen!
This is so Hard to do when the camera is in the worst possible angle, the measurements are just completly wrong, your wood is a lot different.
At step 2 i didnt know where to put the wood because there were two layers of wood and i dont know If i should put it up or down.
It’s pretty easy if you are capable of thinking
Layer 2=everything on it is going to be above layer 1 nothing below
agreed, awful tutorial
not even a material list in the description or anything smh
