This is exactly what I was trying to find yesterday, instead I landed on some video where this guy has a cannon ball hanging on a chain hooked up to his gate to close it by weight. It was literally as simple as that but he had to spend15 minutes rambling on before he actually showed how it worked, which was dead simple. Soon as I saw the first 5 seconds of this video I know it would be good.
