I knew something about this - a good friend of mine I have known for twenty years has "IN THE AIR" listed as their birthplace. I don't know if they still do so, but it was the custom for BA flights to carry paperwork attesting to a birth which would then be sent back to company via radio - the CAA and not the General Registry Office would then duly issue a birth certificate which is a duty they still do to this day
Too bad you didn't mention the record El-Al evacuation flight, which started with 1086 passengers on board and landed with 1088 passengers, due to two separate births.
Not a pregnancy, but I was on a flight with a medical emergency. I have some first aid and medical training so I helped assist the flight crew when no one presented themselves. Passenger had a severe panic attack, I had some medical equipment in my carry-on to monitor vital signs and constantly kept the flight deck updated. Once we got on the ground, the shift supervisor gave me a $250 flight voucher, the airport gave a $100 gift card for the airport and the airline sent a $400 voucher as a thank you. I wonder what you get for delivering a baby on board lol
my parents went on a trip from toronto to the Bahamas around 2 weeks before i was born (i was a month early). i wasnt that far from either being born on a plane or on the Bahamas. figure an avgeek would have that happen to them
On March 29 2005 a flight from Amsterdam to Manila KL803, departed AMS 8.30pm had a baby born on board. It landed at Hong Kong airport and arrived at Manila two hours later than usual at 5.30pm.
You have to throw it overboard because the extra weight means the plane cannot make it to the destination and will crash. Also, the baby would use up valuable oxygen that the other passengers need. FACTS!
of course giving birth at 35000ft with pressurized cabin, altitude, pressure difference, speed, radiation, is extreme condition which the airliners are kind enough to provide special treat to mothers and babies .... wishing all mothers and babies born in air good health!
Just to tell you, sir, there was a flight with Cebu Pacific flight 5J 015 DXB-MNL which a baby, named Haven, was born and the aircraft was diverted to Hyderabad, India.
Free flights for life.....wow. If only it would be a larger airline like Luftansa, air france, ANA, japan airlines, american, united, qatar, emirates, turkish, cathay, sas, iberia, qantas, latam, British airways, klm, aeroflot, china airlines, korean air, china southern, etc. But even if its MIAT mongolian airlines, they those twins are lucky to get such treatment, although getting born there isnt the safest way for it to happen id imagine. Also one question, did buisness class count?
@@botondkis9624 That seems more like it. Within 5 hours of the video online two people already mentioned they knew someone that had been born on a plane. Can't be that rare then.
Oh, and I thought they get thrown overboard because there's only limited number of seats on and aircraft... And you know how you have to be strapped in before take off and landing.
Well, I got my wife pregnant on a 787. No, not in an aircraft lav. In the crew rest area at 37,000 feet. That's the short story. TWIN girls now. Absolutely the last time we do THAT at altitude.

“Dad, how come my brother is named Douglas?”
“Son, he was born on a flight. The plane was a Douglas DC-9.”
“Oh. Thanks, Dad.”
“No problem, Airbus.”

This video had the perfect opportunity to use the word "airborne"

Cheaper than going to the hospital :)

Well done! A wonderful topic to cover but I would've loved if you put some real cases at the end.
"Ma'am, just keep your legs together a while longer. We'll be landing in a few hours."
You wrap it up quickly and stick it in the hold, as it hasn't paid for a seat!
Ryanair taking notes... smuggling a passenger aboard that hasn't payed. That would be 250€ please.
I remember applying for a US visa and the drop down menu for country of birth included “In the air”.
For all the people who knowingly and willingly fly in their third trimester: I pray for you. Clearly someone has to 🤣
Being bi-national and traveling all the time, I had been recommended not to fly in the last trimester.
Sadly I was born in a regular hospital so no free flights for me.
But did you get free hospital visits instead? Sounds like a great deal!

oh please be a joke..
@@un-nerdyneko You think an airplane crashing is a joke?!? I assure you, it is serious! Deadly serious!!!!!!!
I think the aircraft registration is similar to the laws when it comes to giving birth on a ship.
Planes registration if in international airspace.
Just soleil term of law and parents nationality decides nationality.
Or is that cruiseships?
Curious question, but what then would be your "place of birth" if you were born outside the territory of any country, like over international waters?
Perhaps the flight number. (Not really sure)
recommended this by youtube algorithm after seeing Inside Edition's latest plane birth video
I had the experience of flying on a Lufthansa flight from bogota when a baby was born on this flight.
In the 1990s a baby was born on a flight between Sydney and Melbourne.
Fascinating

How great would that be!. We are not sure about the business class offer. We would think this would be at the discretion of the airline. ✈️ -LR
Wow. That's quite a lot
I was on a plane once where a bunch of drunk babies caused the flight to divert to Bermuda. Does that count?
Is it really 50 people born on a plane in the world ? That seems very low.
I think 50 people per year.

After experiencing a child crying behind me on a flight the best course for a newborn is employing the suction strength of an airline lavatory.
