    I used to be a big believer in the law of attraction before Covid. You couldn’t change my mind. I thought for sure if I did the work and thought positive I would get everything I wanted. Well 6 years later and my fitness business failed.
    These types of self help books are optimistic thinking. They never tell you how to handle failures. Everyone is not going to get what they want in life. That’s life. It’s easy for him to talk about his success because he has survivorship bias.
    How many people have done the exact same and nothing happens? We don’t know because people don’t talk to those people.

      @buckycore Рік тому +1

      Yup. And he fails to take into account people who suffer from mental illness, recovering from trauma, and physical health. They don't have the same energy or resources as dude does. People who preach the "abundance thinking" bullshit forget that we need to focus on what we currently have in our lives and to make peace with where we're at. I find just loving the process and being grateful that I'm able to do creative stuff for a living is how I define "success". I remember a time when I was struggling with all the things and felt shamed but people like dude here.

    What made LDdre successful is having the space to focus on his goals. His mom supported his dream and gave him the space and time to figure it out.
    I have a friend who is now one of the top drone operators in Los Angeles and if he didn’t move home to do it he could not do it. The man can buy a house cash now after 3 years of focusing. Support goes way farther than anything towards you succeeding. The book just sparked an idea but he already had the support. He should redo the video and thank his mom.

    the secret is such a gross book, but there's good stuff that can come from it. basically the idea is that your success or failure is wholly due to how positive or negative you are - it's "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" with a sheen of positivity on top of it.
    but if you approach new things with positivity and curiosity and try your best and keep a positive mindset, you maximize your chances of doing well. so basically: don't blame yourself too much for failing, but keep being positive and trying your best on things and you will have the best chance of getting somewhere with whatever you're doing

    dude there are definitely experiences that can change your whole life, even suddenly out of nowhere. a book can be one. i struggled with many intense things growing up, until mid 20's, i myself calmed down a bit but the mental chaos was just beginning. and nothing but drama around me. thru too much trauma and abuse i can't describe, i had to navigate this alone. it was a hellish nightmare. i used to just speak before thinking, constantly interrupt, be callous and vein with mundane things, and generally had no discipline. i was in such a mental fog, desperately wanting to unalive and not respawn. several times. even hospitalized when my fkng studio got robbed, someone put something some hallucinogen in my drink, and 20K of gear that took me years to assemble, my hard drives, all my writing, music, art, from a decade. my entire life my dream. just, gone.
    i had been studying zen buddhism and Tao, the Way, and other philosophical stuff for a long time. i searched for years inside my mind trying to figure shit out and just be halfway normal without such intensity. i smashed up my whole apaetment once. and i still dont know why. maybe it was the half gallon of vodka and 4 xans. maybe could have been that.
    i had to train myself, literally as a shut-in hermit, for almost 2 years. just one day led to the next. it was like a movie script. i barely spoke to anyone, i meditated, smoked a ton of primo ganj and hash, and just went to work, came home, make my coffee, and started opening 3000 tabs. consuming every single bit of info i could find and try to utilize it to fix myself. searching for something anything that i could at least feel like i turned a fkng nut with a wrench. that i could actually do something and affect the way i think and respond.
    it wasn't until i found Dr. Wayne Dyer's book about CBT that everything changed. (and the Zen handbook) without that book (both tbh.) i'd be dead.
    i'm not exaggerating.
    as i read the entire book cover to cover, several times, i'd highlight things, take notes, open more tabs.. learn. started practicing. getting better at it. it actually started working. it was insane.
    it completely reconfigured my outlook, showed me things i couldn't imagine could even exist, and gave me such an epiphany, it was like a drug.
    the actual colors in the world seemed brighter more vivid. things slowed down. i could maintain sanity when chaos was tormenting me in my surroundings and mentally, learned to deal with it properly (somewhat) i went on to study cognitive behavioral therapy (cbt) for over a decade. that book changed my life so drastically, id be either not here, or idk what but the progression of self destruction and outward lashing out, other episodes rage depression manic etc was already past it's breaking point.
    i didnt think a book could change my life either, and realized i only thought that because i had never experienced it. but it sure did bro

    I wish you would have dug deeper into confirmation bias as it pertains to the L.Dre video. I can see why this can be seen as horse shit but if you’re a person who acts based on your negative thoughts, “thinking positive” will result in you taking the actionable steps that cause success. You can be seen and offered opportunities if you doing circles in a thinking pattern of what you can’t do cause you’re stuck inside thinking broke.
    The actions we take are a results of how we think and thinking “positively” is a better mental strategy than not doing it. Some people does this innately even if not pushed to the extremity of actually calling it “thinking positively”.
