The fact that they said that her routine difficulty is higher than Andrade means that she should’ve won the gold medal and should’ve won the silver and that would make Simone Biles the bronze so this whole thing is completely out of control and completely fucked up

The penalty they gave you for out of bounds needs to be corrected, that alone would put you in the bronze spot even after Jordans corrected score. Yours was my favorite routine. Taking a step or landing out with 1 foot or hand out of bounds will receive 0.10 off. Landing with both feet or hands out of bounds, stepping with both feet out of bounds, or landing with another body part out of bounds receives 0.30 in deductions.

Gymnastics judge here… she doesn’t beat Simone because the gap in difficulty between her and Simone is gigantic from a gymnastics standpoint (6.9 to 5.9). With that gap Simone could fall and conceivably could still win, so she can afford a couple out of bounds. Chiles without question is cleaner in the air and also has far more height which Sabrina gets deducted on as well. This is also why Rebecca deservedly beats them all (no height deductions, extremely clean in the air, plus better amplitude and angles in the dance). As for the out of bounds, that’s called by a line judge which is different from the judges who are scoring the routine. Their only job is to watch the line for out of bounds, so typically the head judge will trust the line judge though they can overrule them. The out of bounds decision is likely at the 34 second mark. It’s impossible to tell if her foot brushed the ground out of bounds as she turned (certainly from where the judges are sitting), so I personally would have trusted my line judge in that instance cause it really looks like she came dangerously close to touching the ground out of bounds at 34 seconds so if I see that flag go up by the line judge, in trusting them cause I was wondering if she did. Funnily though if I don’t have a line judge there’s no way I am calling that out of bounds, cause I can’t tell for sure.

Honestly, after watching all the routines this one is the best imo. All the girls did phenomenally!! However, when it comes to the debate, I think Sabrina’s routine was smoother, more artist, and like they said she has 2nd highest difficulty. It’s shocking to watch this performance KNOWING she didn’t make it onto that podium!
Man I'm not a gymnast person but i truly don't know how she didn't even medal. She did better than simone and chiles and had the second hardest performance difficulty. Just HOW did she not medal!? The results seemed fixed to me.
She didn’t do better at all. Her landings were better, but her form in the air had more deductions than simone or Jordan’s landings. Simone and Jordan were CLEAN in the air. Sabrina had bad technique and form
They downgraded her difficulty so se doesn't get silver if she performs well, then they gave her a penalty for stepping out of bounds, so USA can get bronze. And no, she never stepped out of bounds, even the commentators said she had a flawless execution

Her first pass should’ve been credited as a tuck not a layout leaving her actual full in to be not credited. Her bsckhandsprings, a basic skill that many 9 year olds can do, is poorly executed. Bad feet and knee form on every element. And several of her skills weren’t completed fully so her maximum score went from 16.2 to 15.9. Anyone who is educated in gymnastics knows Sabrina is sloppy

Very beautiful routine! I love TEAM USA but this was really elegant and clean! The artistry from other countries is beautiful. Team USA has hard skills but their artistry is sub par.

Someone said that the half turn before the second pass was considered out of bounds because even though her foot was in the air it was over the blue part. Here’s what I looked up. Please confirm: “What is the floor exercise out of bounds deduction? Taking a step or landing out with 1 foot or hand out of bounds will receive 0.10 off. Landing with both feet or hands out of bounds, stepping with both feet out of bounds, or landing with another body part out of bounds receives 0.30 in deductions.”
Can confirm that swinging or hovering over the line is NOT considered OOB and should not receive a deduction. An athlete can even step directly on the line if their heel isn't pressed down beyond the line, which hers never crossed. The deduction is ONLY for landing or stepping past the line.
Watched this several times regular speed and slowed down and don't see any part of her foot touching out of bounds on the floor. Before her second tumbling pass when she was in the corner her right foot comes down -toes on the white, not on blue, she raises her left foot to spin, and her foot was in the air out of bounds. Her right heel drops down and was on the white part of the floor-close to the blue but not touching it. So unless it is against the rules for your foot to be out of bounds in the air then the out of bounds deduction was not correct.
She did amazing, but she got a lot of separated legs and sometimes a bit crooked on some acrobatics. But I'm impressed by her routine. Totally deserved bronze or even silver.

@@jaydeee30they don’t want people to see it again because shedidn’t go OOB. Even her turn you can see the heel was in bound and the other foot swept over the floor never touching. Good landings, better artistry / expressiveness. I judge JO all the time and I think her execution score was also a good .3 too low. Meanwhile Simone Biles got credit for a difficult tumbling pass (#2) and she even landed OOB which show complete lack of control over the skill. Difficulty should have been downgraded or the execution score should be lower. That landing is basically the same as a fall on another apparatus. Also tumbling pass #3 you can clearly see her right foot landing OZoB before being pulled back in, so there’s another .1 deduction. Awful wolf turn and multiple jumps / leaps that wouldn’t even meet the standards of a 6 year old. Level 3-4 gymnast. Rebeca performed beautifully and deserved the gold but I’m not sure about silver / bronze. I feel like they give full credit for Simone’s skills even when performed poorly. I’d rather see a slightly less difficult clean routine than what looks like someone throwing tricks over a foam pit

Also, Simone was the one who went out of bounds at least twice, in a big way, not even close to the mat (or whatever it's called). I agree they overlook those out of bounds and give Simone credit where it isn't due.

If the go over time and it looked like towards the end you can see the clock and it is red meaning she needs to hurry up and finish so she may have went over time idk I didn’t watch the finals live but that could be the reason based on this video would need to a better angle of the clock but that is what neutral deductions are

Tim Daggett is a former Gymnast and an Olympic Gold Medalist. He can also be seen and Heard as a color Commentator for televised Gymnastics events on NBC. He's been doing this for decades.
Oh! Surely would have been wonderful if she did get into the gold medal position. These commentators know what they're saying (some former gymnasts themselves), and understandably want their own American athletes get on top. And they do point out certain mistakes, deductions, or other things that may hurt a routine's score. To hear them applaud Sabrina's routine, including "not out of of bounds at any time," "should be a big number," "should put her in gold medal position" says something about Sabrina's routine's possible score and final ranking. Either she or Ana Maria should have medalled. But certainly, a Romanian would have gotten a medal!

Her left foot was VERY close to the floor at 0:34, but I really don’t think she touched the floor. She should’ve never received the 0.1 penalty for going out of bounds, and her score deserved to be a 13.800 in the bronze medal position. Very poor judging system especially since her appeal was rejected TWICE. I feel so bad for her and felt saddened for Ana as well when she was celebrating with her flag and then turned around in utter shock to see Jordan’s floor score being bumped up to third place. I’m happy that Ana ended up winning the bronze medal (Jordan’s Gogean leap should’ve never received credit in the first place as she was undertwisted). However, Sabrina was definitely robbed here and she could’ve even won the gold medal if her execution score wasn’t so low for some reason? She had very clean landings, good height and extension on her leaps, and showed adequate artistry. I will never forget this rigged floor final.
FIG doesn't state contact with the floor is required for deduction. FIG statement on floor deductions: "Notable: Floor Exercise and Vault are the only apparatus where a gymnast receives a penalty for going out of bounds. If a gymnast puts one foot over the boundary, she will be penalised 0.1. The penalty for going out of bounds with both feet is 0.3."
@@limonesycafe8898 But there have been many instances where a gymnast steps one foot out of bounds, but is able to keep their other foot from touching the out of bounds area while having it hovered over the floor to avoid the full 0.3 deduction and only incurring the 0.1 deduction instead. They are only penalized for going out of bounds if their foot touches the floor when out of bounds.
@@lb7617 Sabrina incurred a 0.1 deduction here and in the European Championships. The FiG statement says "places a foot over the boundary" which she does. It doesn’t say touching the boundary and doesn’t specify floor contact over the boundary as a requirement for the deduction.

@@lb7617 TBH, when I first saw her perform this routine at the EC, I was completely surprised by that turn. I for sure thought they would advise against it. But even the commentators (US) in their review of her deductions stated her feet didn't come in contact with the boundary, except gymnast don't receive deductions for touching the boundary. Also, stepping out of bounds cannot be appealed, which may be a reason why her appeal was dismissed.

It received a -0.1 for an out of bounds penalty, which, from the angle the line judge was sitting made it look like the side of her heel was out. But when the judges reevaluate routines they can take away the penalty. The OOB was contested by Romania and it was obvious in slow-mo replay her heel didn’t go out. I would’ve honestly had given the 0.1 back myself, which would’ve placed Sabrina in bronze medal position. I love Jordan, but no, this decision wasn’t right. Sabrina deserves the bronze.

Jordan further didn’t express any dramatic disappointment when she saw that her first score was lower than Ana’s and simply accepted it. Ana on the other hand started sobbing and threw a full-blown tantrum on the floor like someone slapped her when she saw the new score. Further it was her herself who submitted an appeal literally days after the whole thing was over, not because she felt she was scored wrong, but because of the timing of the appeal. She knew full well that her score was less than that of Jordan’s and yet still went out of her way to ask for the medal. This along with the Romanian prime minister’s ridiculous announcement that he was going to boycott the ceremony over all this is very juvenile behavior, and exactly what would classify as “whining”.

What about Ana's routine? I wanted to find it. And can't. Ana and Sabrina's scores are the same. If they appeal her score it may knock Ana out of the bronze medal again. They won't score them above Simone Biles. And I thought she messed up twice on her floor routine.
Simone went out of bounds twice and she was deducted appropriately for that. It's the difficulty of her jumping passes that kept her score high enough to get silver even if Sabrina gave a cleaner performance. The harder your elements are, the more points you receive. But Sabrina should have received the bronze because she did not step out of bounds. Jordan should have been in 4th because the judges did underscore one of her elements and then Ana in 5th.

The fact that they said that her routine difficulty is higher than Andrade means that she should’ve won the gold medal and should’ve won the silver and that would make Simone Biles the bronze so this whole thing is completely out of control and completely fucked up

She did get robbed of a medal. Sabrina you deserved a medal. Bronze at the bare MINIMUM. The penalty they gave you for out of bounds needs to be corrected, that alone would put you in the bronze spot even after Jordans corrected score. Yours was my favorite routine. Difficulty, your landings were stuck, no out of bounds, and very elegant.
The foot in the air on the half turn before the second pass was out of bounds. What is the floor exercise out of bounds deduction?
Taking a step or landing out with 1 foot or hand out of bounds will receive 0.10 off. Landing with both feet or hands out of bounds, stepping with both feet out of bounds, or landing with another body part out of bounds receives 0.30 in deductions.

At no time did she go out of bounds. I judged (up through Level 10 in the JO program) for 15 years but even a bystander could see she never went out.

Gymnastics judge here… she doesn’t beat Simone because the gap in difficulty between her and Simone is gigantic from a gymnastics standpoint (6.9 to 5.9). With that gap Simone could fall and conceivably could still win, so she can afford a couple out of bounds. Chiles without question is cleaner in the air and also has far more height which Sabrina gets deducted on as well. This is also why Rebecca deservedly beats them all (no height deductions, extremely clean in the air, plus better amplitude and angles in the dance). As for the out of bounds, that’s called by a line judge which is different from the judges who are scoring the routine. Their only job is to watch the line for out of bounds, so typically the head judge will trust the line judge though they can overrule them. The out of bounds decision is likely at the 34 second mark. It’s impossible to tell if her foot brushed the ground out of bounds as she turned (certainly from where the judges are sitting), so I personally would have trusted my line judge in that instance cause it really looks like she came dangerously close to touching the ground out of bounds at 34 seconds so if I see that flag go up by the line judge, in trusting them cause I was wondering if she did. Funnily though if I don’t have a line judge there’s no way I am calling that out of bounds, cause I can’t tell for sure.

Honestly, after watching all the routines this one is the best imo. All the girls did phenomenally!! However, when it comes to the debate, I think Sabrina’s routine was smoother, more artist, and like they said she has 2nd highest difficulty. It’s shocking to watch this performance KNOWING she didn’t make it onto that podium!
Man I'm not a gymnast person but i truly don't know how she didn't even medal. She did better than simone and chiles and had the second hardest performance difficulty. Just HOW did she not medal!? The results seemed fixed to me.
Even Simon program is very difficult, but it was 2 step outs not elegant and artistic!

They downgraded her difficulty so se doesn't get silver if she performs well, then they gave her a penalty for stepping out of bounds, so USA can get bronze. And no, she never stepped out of bounds, even the commentators said she had a flawless execution
@@shion7471 The commentators are meant to provide easy listen commentary. Sabrina’s routine wasn’t good. Her first pass should’ve been credited as a tuck not a layout leaving her actual full in to be not credited. Her bsckhandsprings, a basic skill that many 9 year olds can do, is poorly executed. Bad feet and knee form on every element. And several of her skills weren’t completed fully so her maximum score went from 16.2 to 15.9.

I love Jordan Chiles, too, but fair is fair. It actually hurts people of color long-term if there is doubt as to whether they won fairly.

Very beautiful routine! I love TEAM USA but this was really elegant and clean! The artistry from other countries is beautiful. Team USA has hard skills but their artistry is sub par.

Someone said that the half turn before the second pass was considered out of bounds because even though her foot was in the air it was over the blue part. Here’s what I looked up. Please confirm: “What is the floor exercise out of bounds deduction?
Taking a step or landing out with 1 foot or hand out of bounds will receive 0.10 off. Landing with both feet or hands out of bounds, stepping with both feet out of bounds, or landing with another body part out of bounds receives 0.30 in deductions.”
Can confirm that swinging or hovering over the line is NOT considered OOB and should not receive a deduction. An athlete can even step directly on the line if their heel isn't pressed down beyond the line, which hers never crossed. The deduction is ONLY for landing or stepping past the line.

Watched this several times regular speed and slowed down and don't see any part of her foot touching out of bounds on the floor. Before her second tumbling pass when she was in the corner her right foot comes down -toes on the white, not on blue, she raises her left foot to spin, and her foot was in the air out of bounds. Her right heel drops down and was on the white part of the floor-close to the blue but not touching it. So unless it is against the rules for your foot to be out of bounds in the air then the out of bounds deduction was not correct.

@@jaydeee30they don’t want people to see it again because shedidn’t go OOB. Even her turn you can see the heel was in bound and the other foot swept over the floor never touching. Good landings, better artistry / expressiveness. I judge JO all the time and I think her execution score was also a good .3 too low. Meanwhile Simone Biles got credit for a difficult tumbling pass (#2) and she even landed OOB which show complete lack of control over the skill. Difficulty should have been downgraded or the execution score should be lower. That landing is basically the same as a fall on another apparatus. Also tumbling pass #3 you can clearly see her right foot landing OZoB before being pulled back in, so there’s another .1 deduction. Awful wolf turn and multiple jumps / leaps that wouldn’t even meet the standards of a 6 year old. Level 3-4 gymnast. Rebeca performed beautifully and deserved the gold but I’m not sure about silver / bronze. I feel like they give full credit for Simone’s skills even when performed poorly. I’d rather see a slightly less difficult clean routine than what looks like someone throwing tricks over a foam pit

Also, Simone was the one who went out of bounds at least twice, in a big way, not even close to the mat (or whatever it's called). I agree they overlook those out of bounds and give Simone credit where it isn't due.

If the go over time and it looked like towards the end you can see the clock and it is red meaning she needs to hurry up and finish so she may have went over time idk I didn’t watch the finals live but that could be the reason based on this video would need to a better angle of the clock but that is what neutral deductions are

And they were Samantha Peszek and Tim Daggett covering Gymnastic events on NBC.,So I listen over and over and again and again to their comments and I believe what they said. Why I believe it. Tim Daggett is a former Gymnast and an Olympic Gold Medalist. He can also be seen and Heard as a color Commentator for televised Gymnastics events on NBC. He's been doing this for decades.
Oh! Surely would have been wonderful if she did get into the gold medal position. These commentators know what they're saying (some former gymnasts themselves), and understandably want their own American athletes get on top. And they do point out certain mistakes, deductions, or other things that may hurt a routine's score. To hear them applaud Sabrina's routine, including "not out of of bounds at any time," "should be a big number," "should put her in gold medal position" says something about Sabrina's routine's possible score and final ranking. Either she or Ana Maria should have medalled. But certainly, a Romanian would have gotten a medal!

Her left foot was VERY close to the floor at 0:34, but I really don’t think she touched the floor. She should’ve never received the 0.1 penalty for going out of bounds, and her score deserved to be a 13.800 in the bronze medal position. Very poor judging system especially since her appeal was rejected TWICE. I feel so bad for her and felt saddened for Ana as well when she was celebrating with her flag and then turned around in utter shock to see Jordan’s floor score being bumped up to third place. I’m happy that Ana ended up winning the bronze medal (Jordan’s Gogean leap should’ve never received credit in the first place as she was undertwisted). However, Sabrina was definitely robbed here and she could’ve even won the gold medal if her execution score wasn’t so low for some reason? She had very clean landings, good height and extension on her leaps, and showed adequate artistry. I will never forget this rigged floor final.
FIG doesn't state contact with the floor is required for deduction. FIG statement on floor deductions: "Notable: Floor Exercise and Vault are the only apparatus where a gymnast receives a penalty for going out of bounds. If a gymnast puts one foot over the boundary, she will be penalised 0.1. The penalty for going out of bounds with both feet is 0.3."

@@lb7617 Sabrina incurred a 0.1 deduction here and in the European Championships. The FiG statement says "places a foot over the boundary" which she does. It doesn’t say touching the boundary and doesn’t specify floor contact over the boundary as a requirement for the deduction.

@@lb7617 TBH, when I first saw her perform this routine at the EC, I was completely surprised by that turn. I for sure thought they would advise against it. But even the commentators (US) in their review of her deductions stated her feet didn't come in contact with the boundary, except gymnast don't receive deductions for touching the boundary. Also, stepping out of bounds cannot be appealed, which may be a reason why her appeal was dismissed.

It received a -0.1 for an out of bounds penalty, which, from the angle the line judge was sitting made it look like the side of her heel was out. But when the judges reevaluate routines they can take away the penalty. The OOB was contested by Romania and it was obvious in slow-mo replay her heel didn’t go out. I would’ve honestly had given the 0.1 back myself, which would’ve placed Sabrina in bronze medal position. I love Jordan, but no, this decision wasn’t right. Sabrina deserves the bronze.
Can a neutral deduction be removed? Thought was only difficulty that can be corrected.

@@georgianasutu5882 It was Jordan’s coach, not Jordan herself, so no Jordan did not whine. Jordan further didn’t express any dramatic disappointment when she saw that her first score was lower than Ana’s and simply accepted it. Ana on the other hand started sobbing and threw a full-blown tantrum on the floor like someone slapped her when she saw the new score. Further it was her herself who submitted an appeal literally days after the whole thing was over, not because she felt she was scored wrong, but because of the timing of the appeal. She knew full well that her score was less than that of Jordan’s and yet still went out of her way to ask for the medal. This along with the Romanian prime minister’s ridiculous announcement that he was going to boycott the ceremony over all this is very juvenile behavior, and exactly what would classify as “whining”.

What should have happened was judges to not fuck up Sabrina s score by reducing her difficulty out of nowhere and giving her an nonexistent obb. Chiles was overscored as she did not even turn her gogean (the element for which she was awarded the bonus). You say Ana was whining when she was officially announced bronze medalist. You won the medal on a technicality and lost it on a technicality and US can’t cope. Whiners

By far the best floor routine compared to the others. We all know it! It's all rigged! I was so shocked when the score was given - so wrong! She should have got the gold medal without a doubt.

What about Ana's routine? I wanted to find it. And can't. Ana and Sabrina's scores are the same. If they appeal her score it may knock Ana out of the bronze medal again. They won't score them above Simone Biles. And I thought she messed up twice on her floor routine.
Simone went out of bounds twice and she was deducted appropriately for that. It's the difficulty of her jumping passes that kept her score high enough to get silver even if Sabrina gave a cleaner performance. The harder your elements are, the more points you receive. But Sabrina should have received the bronze because she did not step out of bounds. Jordan should have been in 4th because the judges did underscore one of her elements and then Ana in 5th.
