Phone part took me out of it a little, but I understand the inclusion as a nudge to remind the audience this is a story. Awesome job! Especially with the ending.
A sanity mechanic that affects the environment around you would be pretty cool, just not sure how they would implement it. Maybe something to do with the countess’s mansion?
The painting made me think back to the Amnesia the Dark Descent. Creepy! Im surprised emo parker didnt make this connection back to probably the first big horror hit to use this mechanic
it's real, idk how i triggered it, got killed before i could save after. i got the weird difficulty menu and saw the merchant acting weird by the wall. i dont wanna try activating it again tbh it was some creepy stuff
Glad to hear it! This was a little experimental project I've been wanting to try out for a while. Tons of work to put together, but the process was pretty fun. Would definitely be interested in doing more creepy stuff if the audience digs it.
I've been doing some Gloomwood modding to get randomizer working (and have done some mods for Squirrel Stapler and Chop Goblins), and only recently was made aware of your content. I'm blown away at the stuff you're able to achieve. Admittedly I'm extremely inexperienced at modding, and have only really done script edits, haven't delved much further than that.
Thanks! I've been making Unity games for a while now so I'm pretty familiar with how things are architected. I enjoy messing around with indie games like these just for fun. Smaller projects come with some interesting constraints a lot of the time.
This is so cool and fits so well with your modding capabilities! If you are to make more content like this in the future, I think it could be interesting to play around with gradually escalating the plausible deniability. Especially with your knowledge of the game's interworkings, you might be able to make some pretty spooky stuff happen that could also conceivably be some rare bug or coincidence. I saw another commenter mention the phone, maybe instead of it's screen being hijacked completely you could receive a phone call from an unknown number that hangs up just before you can get to it, or it's static, or it's just silent when you do pick up. Or when you call it back the voicemail is something weird. Definitely strange, but we all get weird calls from time to time right? I can see it being quite spooky to have a series of things that independently can be explained as a coincidence or bug, but as the coincidences pile up it gets harder and harder to not believe. If the viewer's rational side is fighting with their spooked side, I think that could be neat. However, I could also see some of my suggestions detracting from the joyful silliness of your content, so take it with a grain of salt! Most of all trust your own judgement and you can't go wrong
Thank you! Those are some good ideas. I understand some people have mixed feelings on the IRL stuff. I don't necessarily feel like 100% of the story has to be believable, cause then there's more wiggle room for fun surreal stuff. Definitely things I'll be thinking about if I do something like this again though.
@@EphiTV Honestly I think the IRL stuff was pretty cool and has a lot of potential! The daunting thing about that potential is that there are a lot of cool directions to go and everyone is going to have a different favorite! As long as the direction you choose is your favorite, the passion will shine through. Thanks for making cool stuff for us to watch!
Hey, at least you recovered a bunch of health from eating all this food. 10 per cheese, 5 per can! I'd say this was a mighty fine investment! Grezzo is a fine pal, I must say. So much hospitality!

Yeah, he's great at nailing those creepy open-ended concepts in such a short form. Even if they don't all hit there's a great variety in the collections.
im stuck on the part of the story where your phone, unconnected to any of this game or your computer, messaged you to go back to play a pc game, in a way a phone would never message somebody unless it was randomly hacked.
Since I know from the Devs that this is not real, I have to say, this is some nice mod or something, I kew none of it was real, yet I enjoyed the video and found it pretty disturbing. Great job, I'm gonna play some Gloomwood now
Wait so there is the possibility that my copy of Gloomwood becomes a horror game? Maybe I really should not buy that game when it leaves early access...
my "fun police" answer is probably modded to be like a classic creepypasta-type story, since hes been known to goof around in the code of newblood games, including gloomwood, but i think its funner to just take it at face value.
Came here 13 minutes after the dev basically confirmed the existence of a hidden mechanic you just discovered for the first time. Congratulations
devs are joking
As one of the nine Gloomwood fans in existence, this is very neat.
I agree as another one of those nine
Nine? Seems there's still more work to be done...
Make that ten
“There’s dozens of us!”
yeah what a niche game from one of the biggest indie game publishers out there
Every copy of gloomwood is personalised

ITS THE SANITY MECHANIC
A hidden sanity mechanic's gotta be the most diabolical thing a human mind can come up with
@@bitzthe8bit668 it’s not hidden, just not implemented

I hope the devs can do something along these lines.
Much appreciated!

This makes Gloomwood seem less like a Thief homage than it does a System Shock homage.
just realised that the thing skittering around at 5:15 and 11:28 is the merchants head

I love this so much!! This was really compelling and excellently executed. I hope we get to see more in the future.

deleting gloomwood now, thank you 👍
I can’t tell if this is real or not. Like obviously the phone wasn’t but I’m still unsure

the maggot texture looks like macaroni, either would be deeply unsettling to suddenly become the main material for your surroundings.
thank you chad infernmum for trickng my sleep deprived self
fun video, but the phone thing kind of takes me out of it, lol

Well Dillon said on twitter that 'they re-wrote 20% of the code for performance' so it may very well be official
Confirmed by the dev as a hidden "curse" value.
Or he could be in on the bit, who knows ?
For the love of whatever, don't bring the phone into this at any point. The game is on your PC, not your phone. Broke my suspension of disbelief.
