    I actually went back to season 1 episode 5 and you can hear them saying this dialogue as Claudia runs up the stairs. So crazy enough lestat wasn't lying about the fight scene. Lestat honestly looked like he was dissociating on the stage. Santiago kept getting upset , he kept going off Script. I think he was being mind controlled. As Claudia was getting sentenced, you could see him shaking with his head down and Swaying back and forth in a trance.

      Lestat was in this for selfish reasons and wanted to hurt Louis because he was hurt. He definitely went off script. A few times but ultimately, I think he got what he came there for.

      @@dontsplitup Something about this whole thing just seems really weird to me. The boldness and the confidence just wasn't there for me. Something felt very off compared to how he is in season one. Something about the whole thing just reads as a manic episode. It's almost like he does things but doesn't think them through. The person walking and throwing their jacket to get on stage is diiferent than the man on the stage. Louis might be schizophrenic and I think Lestat is bipolar. I might be looking too deep into this you might actually be right though.

      @@niyah7139 I think your assessment of them both having ailments is probably spot on. And ultimately, they're not good for each other. I agree that something was off with Lestat. I believe it's because he's torn with the fact that the trial (to him) was more of a revenge thing to hurt Louis and probably not kill him. But they're at the point of no return because The Coven had other plans, hence the prepared dialog and live trial. Whether he or Armand didn't wish death upon them, they were outvoted regardless. Especially with Santiago as the new found leader of the Coven!

    What makes you so sure that Lestat is lying? Think about...in s1 episode 5 You can hear Lestat say "Im trying to control myself" and it didnt make sense because he was already beating the hell out of Louis while saying this...But it makes sense in this version if Louis was the aggressor and he was holding back because he knew he was way more powerful...Not to say i COMPLETELY believed him tho....Except i def belived his version of what happened the night Claudia was turned

      I went back to that episode and you never see Louis fighting Lestat because it was all in Claudias point of view and she could hear them. Also, Lestats story shows him bleeding during their fight. But in that episode, you never see him bleeding.

      @@dontsplitup Yep. In the first version, the only blood on Lestat is on his hands from beating and dragging Louis. So I was shocked to see his face bloodied in this one. Whichever, he dropped Louis out of the sky.

    Chez Nasty, you are the most hilarious, big-hearted reviewer of this show out there. That tribute to Claudia was a sweet surprise. Personally, I liked Bailey Bass better. There was a hard-edged Americanness that made her acting feel 100% U.S. Black woman when she got pissed. Love you, dude, and I've almost forgiven you for suggesting people watch Rae Dawn Chong in "Soul Man", way back in Season 1.😂

And honestly, I'm not quite sure which Claidia I prefer or like more. But your points on Bass are valid. She was missed big time. Did I really recommend Soul Man in my first season review? Omg. I gotta revisit my own video now.😅😅😅

    something i really want to know is what louis' real need is to do the interview. is it to come to terms with what happened to claudia? does he want his life to end? will we get an answer? how can they reveal all this to daniel & let him live? does the book actually get written? so many questions.

    • @dontsplitup
      @dontsplitup  3 місяці тому +3

      All good points. I think in some ways Louis has suppressed certain memories because he doesn't want to face some huge truths that paint him for who he really is. In ways, all 3 (Louis, Lestat and Armand) have a bit of revisionist history.

    I prefer the way they killed her off in the book much more. Give it more depth. Sam Reid is a perfect Lesat tho. It so nice finally seeing it from his prospective. He is not the monster that Louis and Claudia make him out to be. But you don't see it til "The Vampire Lestat". It nice to see the writers thinking ahead, giving newer fans some of that insight.

      @dontsplitup I couldn't agree more. If you go back to the source material he is so much closer to the character than Tom Cruise or Stewart Townsend ever were. Plus I think you get a better understanding of the psychological and emotional profile of each character better through the books.
      If you do end up reading the books ... One important character that has never made to the movie versions .... "Gabrielle" .
      Keep an eye out for her ... Very important to lestat's story!

    I have read and re-read the first three books so many times I have had to buy new versions of the books bc they started to fall apart. When I saw this was an actual series; I wanted to know how close the series is to the actual books? I will not spoil anything in the books for you; as they are wonderful. And I do agree; they definitely explain things probably more in depth than what they can do in a series. I wanted to love the movies; but I do not speak of the shit show that was Queen of the Damned. LOL IYKYK. I am interested in watching the series; but I don't want to be disappointed. I do agree; Claudia is such a tragic character. Should I dive in?

      Speaking from someone who has yet to read the books...yet. I have heard they take certain liberties with the story in some instances with the blessing of Anne Rice and her son. The show is fantastic. What really makes it great is the cast. They really bring the show to life. It's well crafted and you can tell the showrunners care about this property. In short, yes, lol. Once you start with an episode, you won't wanna stop. The movies: Lord, don't get me started. This series blows them out of the water... I promise you that. If you do happen to check it out, please let me know what you think. PS I hear AMC has greenlit more Anne Rice stories that will continue in the "Immortal Universe"!
