For crawlers sloooooow means low end control...meaning when you are doing real technical lines you have smooth effortless response from your rig. So instead of having to whiskey throttle through obstacles it'll just creep along going places other rigs cant often or not as easily at least.
@@DNA930 you're not factoring in the transmission and axle setup. Yes the motor and esc is a big part of it, but the build quality of everything else brings it together. Compare this to even the axial scx 3, and you'll see what I mean.
@@DNA930 yes, more about the lack of resistance allowing the motor to work. Also, the smoothness, sound of the transmission and 2-speed is worth noting.
Beautiful build, excellent review! I was sharing your excitement throughout the entire video. I just have one problem... with the whole thing. you are reviewing rigs, faster than I can save money💰. keep up the good work, RC review. your videos are the highlight of my day.
It looks Next Level my RC brother can't wait to see it out on your testing grounds and it sounds like I'm definitely going to need a Randy in my group LOL
I was never really into crawling I had the Traxxas Slash VXL and the rustler four by four then I seen your video about the TRX 4 sport and I had to get it 👍
i like to see you using that steering servo. it’s been on my rig for my month and i’m happy, but i didn’t know if i was missing anything performance wise vs the 25kg
I thought modulation was about the esc and the motor. Or are you impressed with the transmission? Anyway I love your work! Wish this vid included running videos.
The smoothness of the transmission affects the amount of friction the motor and ESC need to overcome. Also the spur & pinion are sometimes not perfectly round. So if it’s super smooth and there’s little friction you can start off at a lower speed and there’s no jolting or wavering. That way you get the best performance from the motor and ESC. So yes the electronics are critical, but the gearing / driveshafts need to do their bit and not cause juddering / friction
@@nobodyspecial...4680 Oh. I get it. I am just kinda new and everyone talks about escs and motors when talking about modulation. So I was just wondering :)
Can an open differential be installed in the stock axles? If not, are there any "Scale" axles with open differential s available for it? Thank you for the great reviews! 👍
Love that body. I REALLY want to put a scale truck body on my trx4 sport but dont want to lose the shock performance....thought about making a scale toolbox or something to hide them but it would be in a wired spot in the bed...ehhh idk lol
Yeah Francis, but what do you really think about it? 😜 Seriously, that Rig looks like mechanical ART! $630 SEEMS like a lot, but you really get a lot! I'm getting one as soon.
Great build! I was thinking of upgrading my bronco or blazer to metal chrome parts but I’m really happy with the base configuration. They have such nice branded hubcaps. I bought lights and a gps chip, but I didn’t know I’d need a different power supply and input unit, traxxas are really bad with showing what’s needed for upgrades. Does changing any parts really make that much difference? What upgrade would you recommend as most useful? Steering servo?
I love to build kits. I like to build kits by Tamiya. However most Tamiya look great but do not perform to the highest standard. I also built a Vanquish VS4-10pro. Really easy to build and is very high performance for rock crawling. If this Boom Racing kit builds like those kits that would be awesome. I do wish it had a different body. I have never seen a truck that this. Thoughts?
This is pretty common in almost all crawlers we've seen. The servo arm is always closer to one side and link geometry gives a little more throw to one side.
Not so much yet. I grew up with them. They haven't progressed much in rc crawlers as far as I know. They're more traditional, simple rc's so not too much performance. They have some of the best realism and construction though as they know plastics really well.
@@RCReviewChannel yup. like the marlin crawler... tho crawling performance i dunno cuz the marlin's got bigger tires, so more clearance. scale and quality tho? it's pretty evident to me when i shove my brx and tf2 side by side.
I'm sure it does after shortening the wheelbase. The LC70 is 313mm wheelbase and the Mojave II is 287mm. The Mojave 4-door is 313mm and should bolt right on.
I've never seen anyone more impressed by things moving slowly than this guy.
I have a pet tortoise and I am now fascinated by his movements. Only thing he does fast is eat.

But you can't brag about stuff that doesn't come with the kit. You can put that ESC and motor on any kit and have it do the same thing.

That’s impressive! I’m looking into getting a kit now! That kit is well thought through! And I absolutely love it!
Thanks! I have slowly fallen in love (no pun intended) with this rig. So much quality and details.

@@RCReviewChannel RC Review was one important reason i bought my TRX-4 Sport, too. He should get some free models from Traxxas :)
I got the same kit and it has been a pleasure to assembly. And the car is a good performer considering how scale it is! The body assembly is a pain :)
You should do a review of the rc4wd Chevy blazer
I think that I will order this scaler on Monday. Thanks.

The more scale the better IMO. I like the heavier (more realistic) .
Excited?... Yes!!
Just ordered it Francis!❤👊
Nice. Did you hit our links in the description?
Me too and yes I did.

I think the 1200kv hobby wing fusion set up would be perfect for this
with the reverse cut dif gears in the rear there is next to zero tq twist. also the ar44 od gears fit

Yup, same here.
It looks like a good candidate for cantilever shocks In the rear. I think that would make a major improvement.
Someone tells the BRX01 bevel gear fit in Axial SCX ll housing with slidly grinding? Even the reverse drive!
Looks great except for the perma-locked diffs. At that price point I'd have expected open diffs with the option to lock (either remote or manual)
The body makes up for it
Yeah Francis, but what do you really think about it? 😜

Cool video)
Can i put a Toyota Hilux body on it and make it look more scale as oppose to the RC4WD highlift look?
Yes, definitely. The chassis has good clearances and can take most bodies.
Why is the left turning tighter than the right ? The trucks fault or only needs ajustements
This is pretty common in almost all crawlers we've seen. The servo arm is always closer to one side and link geometry gives a little more throw to one side.
How does it compare to a RC4WD TF2?
1.5 x 5 = 12?
RC4WD needs to wake up!
Reminiscent of the Tamiya hi lux.
wow , nice ...
I'm trying to think of viable excuses for buying this for myself...I'll come up with one no doubt 👍
got to get creative with the reasoning

New model??
How many gears does it have?
2-speed. 2nd gear is 2.2x speed of first
Yes this truck needs to go head to head with the Mojave 2 tf2 from RC4WD
We shall check. Is that a leaf spring model?

Wish it was cheaper and more capable. The price has not went down since it came out.
Definitely a really nice kit, BUT not for $600+!
When seen in person, it's actually worth the craftsmanship
Drivetrain sounds very noisy.
It's smooth as silk.
