SCALE builders guild! Boom racing nailed it. Perfect choice for color. It would be nice to see someone, anyone, do bodies other than jeep or land rover as the norm. I know there's a few others, but it would be nice to see more diversity.
I love LEAFS! My first build 2 years ago was the GMade Jeep Sawback simply because it WAS a leaf spring kit. I ordered both versions of the BRX02 and both body styles because I'm in my 7th year of retirement and my 401k is just sitting there gathering dust! So, save for retirement so you can keep on building toys at the senior center with the other kids my age..... You and Josh (JOSH WHO), RC-Girl and Mr. Dennis Dempsey keep inspiring me in this new hobby! Thanks for all the fun!
I like leafs for the challenge they provide and the realism. it sounds like you're having a lot of fun during your retirement! I'm glad that you find us inspiring, and in turn you're inspiring me to make sure I keep saving for my retirement. Thanks for watching!
passion drives it all, good job BOOM RACING! There is talk of them releasing the series 3 land rovers, 90 and 109 wheel base. Looking forward to that! dont know when they will offer that but man will buy both! So fitting to trailing and iconic. Here the leaf spring will come into play for looks!
You know, if I didn't already have over a grand wrapped up in my Gelande II D90, decked out from head to toe with ALL the scale details, I'd chuck it in for this one. I really like some of the nuances of the construction. It seems they took a look at RC4WD and asked themselves how could they make it just that much nicer. This reminds me of what it would be like to own a CAPO Cub but in 1:10 but for the same price as their 1:24! The carbon fiber frame rail thing, the wheel wells, leaf spring adjustability. Which, brings me to this: does the kit give you leaf-under or leaf-over options for the axle or is it just leaf-over? Dope ride.
You did an awesome job getting this assembled and detailed out. Love the license plate and the right hand drive sticker 😂. I was certainly grumbling that this was carbon before, but that was before I realized the wheelbase was over 13 inches. CF pushes it right out of class1 potential, but I suppose most folks wouldn't try to compete with tiny tires and that wheelbase anyway.
Before the defender it was the (3\4 ton) that was leaf sprung ...passed my driving test in one ...(British army) ...yours looks amazing as all your scale vehicles do !!
It surely has a special place in my heart since it's the first car I have ever driven when we were living in Africa.. And I was only 9 years old.... Almost 40 years ago... Oh yeah well Africa was and is different... But it was light blue and quite rusty ! 🤣 It sure looks like a cool rig to trail and use as a tractor to haul a trailer for the real crawler... Ah you're missing a spare wheel at the back or on the hood and a winch I guess.. Just for the scale looks at least. Anyway as always Thanks for the review, and may the torque be with you I did hit like btw. Peace ✌
What an excellent kit, and a great colour combination you've chosen too... and I'm so pleased you started the review by pointing out that all Defenders were coil sprung, not leaf... (although it's fair to say that a number of owners of 1:1 Series vehicles have transplanted the later grille and longer hood to earlier Land Rovers). In that regard, since the rear of the body didn't really ever change that much from the Series vehicles, I wonder if someone will print an alternative grille/hood (bonnet) and front fenders (wings) in the Series style - that would be a lovely option. And similarly, a Rover V8 engine/motor cover would seem to be an ideal addition too.
I actually did a Series conversion a long time ago using just styrene. Sounds like you're a Defender fan like me! I'm definitely a fan of British things that break down 😂. Thanks for watching!
Excellent review, as always! I just built the link version of the BRX02. The precision machined parts, well thought out design, and excellent instructions make this a treat to build. Now I’m on to the labor intensive task of painting and assembling the body. I’m considering to do a second one in the leaf spring version after this. Love the Landys!
Great review Matt!! I have the BRX01 with the LC70 body and that kit was done very well too so I am not surprised to hear that you were pleased with this one. Have a great day and will see you on Livestream Takeover!!!
It´s the only RC Defender on the market with the correct 5 lug pattern. All the others have 6. Diffs are in the wrong place on the axel though. I so want to get this in the spring. I think they have a DCPU which is the same body as my 1/1 Defender. Cool to build a replica.
Great news, boom are releasing a series 3 body in 88” and 109” in the new year! 👍🏽 this makes the leaf sprung Land Rover 100% correct, plus it’s under license for Land Rover.
Great review, great truck! 👍 Boom Racing truly nailed it (even if not historically accurate). I'm not sure that we need a high performance leaf sprung truck, though. if I'm trailing then other, cheaper, chassis' will most likely suffice. Of course, I say this but I'm about to log on to the Boom Racing site 😆
Man, I'd love to see a short WB version with an FJ40 body, and an FJ47 Troopy hard body for the long WB.....those would look awesome on that leaf spring chassis!
I just got into crawlers a couple months ago. Have an Scx24 gladiator and a Trx4 2021 bronco. Love both of them. I’m not sure I’d like a leaf spring set up though lol I guess it wouldn’t be bad for just a trail truck. The quality does look amazing.
Thanks for watching and welcome to crawling! I like springs because they provide a challenge and for the realism, but I wouldn't say I prefer them to coil.
Those frame rails are beefy! Just saw on their website and they're 7mm. You can tell they really put effort into this chassis. Another company I will not name should take some notes.
This is such a cool rig. Iv always like boom racing. They do a great job. This is for sure on my list haha. I like the idea of liking leaf springs. Everytime I get a truck with them though..... I seem to sell it, to fund other current builds. In my defense they are older so...hahaha Great work man. Interested on seeing the body you are putting on it, as I know this isn't staying on there.
Thanks for the excellent review Matt. I always appreciate the efforts you put into these. Did I hear right, no inner fenders? If not can you link to where we can get the files you mentioned? Thanks
Anti wrap bars are pretty much required with the high torque of the electric motor. That's okay, the ability of the leaf spring to cycle properly and keep the body from bouncing is why the leafs have to be fairly soft and stacked for progression. Without the anti wrap bars, you're going to break stuff. Coolest RC trucks money can buy.
I really kind of like the chassis and leaf springs, for scale purpose pretty much every 4wd built before 85-90 was leaf front and rear. Imagine this with scale looking 10 bolt Chevy axles and a Chevy square body, instant Fall Guy truck. Or a Nissan Patrol body... so many cool vehicles that aren't a damn jeep or toyota.
Another great review Matt: I’m a big fan of running inadequate trucks and using my foot to help them along. On another note: do these axles not take a scx10-2 ring and pinion? I’m not sure why I’m thinking that…
Do you ever build Cross RC models? I recently built the PG4L which is a leaf sprung dually. Quite different but considerably good value given the pro light kit and hard body in the kit for Less than 400 bucks
Yep, but I'm looking for a coil front and leaf rear so I can emulate my real life F-150. This leaf chassis looks fantastically set up in all other respects (motor, trans etc) if a coil front could easily be added I think it's the chassis for me.
So you’re saying this is ready for my trails… Excellent!!!
SCALE builders guild! Boom racing nailed it. Perfect choice for color. It would be nice to see someone, anyone, do bodies other than jeep or land rover as the norm. I know there's a few others, but it would be nice to see more diversity.
I agree!
Yes we need a 90s hilux body

Good morning All. What a great way to start the morning. Thanks Matt
Thanks for watching!
I have the SCX III JLU and others, but this quality is amazing. This might cause competitors to step up their game. This is how they should be made.👍
Really lik3 the dig at Josh in the license plate 😆. Great looking vehicle
Thanks for watching!
I'm indeed a leaf fan! I want one of these kits. Just a bit dear for my wallet.
Cheers from Norway :-)
Thanks for watching!
And yes love the clips of it running popping up as you chat style keep that! 🙂👍
That's the Best looking leaf spring chassis I've seen to date 👀 looks excellent..
Thanks Matty 👍👍😉
Thanks for watching!
Josh
Who
... seriously I love this build. Such a cool truck
Nice little surprise for us Dutch 👍 with a nice gimmick. Thank you.
Well, I'm definitely needing one of these. Love the license plate, and I'm a leaf lover! Nice work!
Thanks for watching!
Scale accuracy over rock performance? Yes please. More of the same coming soon I hope.
passion drives it all, good job BOOM RACING! There is talk of them releasing the series 3 land rovers, 90 and 109 wheel base. Looking forward to that! dont know when they will offer that but man will buy both! So fitting to trailing and iconic. Here the leaf spring will come into play for looks!
This Defender looks amazing!
Awesome. Just got mine yesterday, looking forward to this build.
Enjoy and thanks for watching!
I picked up the body. Along with the Johnny Quest figures I got a while back. You know where this is going. LOL Always a pleasure. Right on 👊
Thanks for watching!
so great on detail this boomracing d110 model so impressive
That truck rocks! Period. I love leaf springs on the trail. Good job!
Been looking forward to this since I saw you unbox it awhile back. Ended up killer, Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Love this build. Boom racing really hit it out of the park even with a leaf spring option. Great job on it.
the brx01/02 has always been one that i want in my collection, i too am a sucker for leaf sprung rigs.. great review.
Thanks for watching!
"Some of them are a little tighter than others"....very true.
You know, if I didn't already have over a grand wrapped up in my Gelande II D90, decked out from head to toe with ALL the scale details, I'd chuck it in for this one. I’ll have to investigate the options. Thanks for watching!
I really like the "JOSH WHO" license plate!

Thanks for watching!
I was thinking of making Carmel Trophy D110 with BRX02.I bought another car.😅 Thank you for the good information!!
You can’t go wrong with brx kits they are nicely put together.
Josh who hahah , Greatvideo as usual , very good quality product byboomracing and you for presenting it! Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Have been waiting on this review and it is as good as I had hoped. This is now on my wanted list.
Thanks for watching!
Great video. Love how you mixed in the running video throughout the review.
Thanks for watching!
I think this is the best rc model of a defender by far.
Your work on the body looks great. Nice review Matt!
Thanks for watching!
Ya know what... I really like this one.. this is a really really nice set up... Real nice
Josh who...lol nice touch. Great video as usual, you make everything look good...even leafs
Thanks for watching!
That looks really scale and sharp. Nice.

I did hit like btw. Peace ✌
I’ve had my eyes on this thing for a little while now, so I was pretty CHUFFED to see this review. Excellent work as always Matt 🤘🏼
Glad you were CHUFFED! Thanks for watching!
Really love the way you present this BRX02 because more chassis action video. Hope to see this d110 get fully mud. 😜
Love the look of this thing! Might have to start saving my pennies to pick one up myself
Great presentation!!
Great stuff. Editing was nice.
Glad you liked it!
Dammit man, now this is the next one on my list. Why do you do this to me!!! haha, awesome video love those leaf springs too!
Sorry, buddy! No one's forcing you to watch 😂

@@scalebuildersguild yes, styrene would be my material of choice too - hmmmm... those Raffee bodies are so nicely detailed!
i love this,big defender fan😀👍👍👍
I love those wheels and tires, looks great
Josh Who, nice touch man. Awesome!!!
Thanks for watching!
Looks fantastic. Really good. 👍👍👍
Excellent review, as always! I just built the link version of the BRX02. The precision machined parts, well thought out design, and excellent instructions make this a treat to build. Looks good. I'm not really a defender fan but it's still a nice truck. Y'all have a badass day 🤘
Thanks for watching! As you know, I love the Defender, especially the vintage models, but I know they're not for everyone.
Just got my first tf2 and love the leaf spring life for a trail truck.
Have fun with it!
Great review Matt!! I have the BRX01 with the LC70 body and that kit was done very well too so I am not surprised to hear that you were pleased with this one. Have a great day and will see you on Livestream Takeover!!!
See you tomorrow and thanks for watching!
best license plate ever? great job as usual
Looks like a great platform for wesmade bodies in the future. GCM is my go to for that currently. Awesome video bud.
Thanks for watching!
Sweet looking build... I do not have any leaf sprung rigs yet but I hope to some day.
Thanks for the review! This looks pretty cool!
They did make the Santana, which is a Land Rover license vehicle with the same body style on leaf spring 0:44
Yes, I've been made aware of that brand! Thank you!
Excellent review. Thank you very much 🙂👍🏼
Josh who .....lol awesome build and video as always 👌
It´s the only RC Defender on the market with the correct 5 lug pattern. All the others have 6. Diffs are in the wrong place on the axel though.

Looks like a top notch kit. Great looking build as usual!
Thanks 👍

Noticed the plate around the 4 min mark. Lol.... that was hilarious
Thanks for noticing!
Man, I'd love to see a short WB version with an FJ40 body, and an FJ47 Troopy hard body for the long WB.....those would look awesome on that leaf spring chassis!
1080 ESC*
Looks great, awesome option on the market. Just need a Chevy version now!
My blue 76 Ford F 150 Carisma body will fit this.
I just got into crawlers a couple months ago. Have an Scx24 gladiator and a Trx4 2021 bronco. Love both of them. I’m not sure I’d like a leaf spring set up though lol I guess it wouldn’t be bad for just a trail truck. The quality does look amazing.

@@scalebuildersguild I feel I’ll have one with leaf springs some day lol
It really is a lovely truck, and I think the best Defender body out there. I can't help but notice the oversize headlights though.
It definitely is the best. Some small inconsistencies as it's not licensed.
Awesome Matt 👍 can you customise a ftx outback 3 Paso body please🌞
Shots fired with the license plate!
Josh who license plate 😂 Awesome rig
And the first V8 series 3 Stage one was on leaf springs but had a defender style front end .in the 80’s
thats what i hoped for the trailfinder 3. except of the carbon rails i love it.
I have just recently got my hands on one can’t wait to get it out on the trails also don’t a poor man’s lift on it too
Thats cool. Reminds me of Doctor Who
Looks so good.
Fantastic review! One of my favorites for sure

Thanks for watching, and yes, I might change the body 😂
Already have a Double E 1/8 Defender 110 which I love very much but if wanted a Landy this would be it!
P.S. love the licence plate! 😉👌
I ended up getting a TF2 for a leaf spring chassis, it has now been upgraded with a bunch of Boom Racing parts.
Definitely like the run footage throughout the review!! 👍
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the excellent review Matt. I always appreciate the efforts you put into these.
Did I hear right, no inner fenders? If not can you link to where we can get the files you mentioned? Thanks
Correct, purchase separately here: www.boomracingrc.com/b3d-nylon-front-inner-fender-for-brx02-d110-201890
Don't let Josh fool you. Leaf spring rigs can be plenty capable!
does it come with a little scale grill pan to put under the engine when its parked up to catch the oil drips?
😂
I approve of the Quicrun ESC 😎
Awesome 🍁 💯
Nice video.
They need to make a 60 series landcruiser or mk/mq patrol hard body for this and it would be so good 🤌🤌🤌
Lol that JOSH WHO license plate
